  1. There are several small surface lots, but I don't think I've ever seen anyone tailgate in them, and I live in the warehouse district.
  2. Take 'em to North Minneapolis. They'll feel right at home.
  3. Tailgating's not really much of an option here; the stadium is crammed into downtown, and most of the parking is in ramp form. On the other hand, no one seems to mind, since the main gate heads straight out to 1st Ave. Take them to Kieran's patio or my personal favorite (if you're into dives) Cuzzy's.
  4. A couple problems with this line of thought. Sano clearly isn't ready for the big leagues; he just jumped to AA as a 20 year old, and his old strikeout problems are coming back. We can't count on him in September, and we may not be able to count on him for much or all of next year. Similarly, Sano isn't even on the 40 man, and he doesn't have to be until 2014! Why push him up when he isn't ready when we're not in any hurry to trade Plouffe (not a walk year)? Plouffe is also young, cheap, and a valuable righthanded slugger. I think he's a good 3B option with the potential to become better. I'm not comfortable giving up something like that for speculative minor league assets when there's no one to plug that hole in the lineup. And speaking of plugging that hole in the lineup, Carroll isn't very effective this year. Last year wasn't great for him either, but I think it's becoming clear that his skills are declining. And don't forget that he holds a vesting option. If he plays enough, we are forced to pay him for next year too, and by next year, I think we'll probably want to move on. We could plug in Escobar into Carroll's utility role and do just as well for cheaper.
  5. Cornelius Cabela. We don't know much about him since he signed out of Indy Ball, but he has been working out with Sidd Finch in Tibet, so I have high hopes.
  6. Good for Perk. He deserves it, and it's about time the Twins had more than one representative.
  7. Plouffe is the sexy pick, which may be the only time anyone calls Plouffe sexy. But I think Arcia is going to surprise. He'll spot ya a half season lead and still hit 20.
  8. I'd like to see Mariano Rivera one last time, but I also kind of don't because I'd like to avoid Rivera in a closing situation at Target Field. Maybe I should travel...
  9. Sure, big fan. I have his autograph, actually. But Piazza's career OPS was more than .100 points higher. Johnny Bench was great, and a true hall of famer, but I don't think he's in quite the same offensive class as Piazza. Besides, Joe Mauer's numbers look better than Bench's, albeit in fewer seasons. If Joe Mauer can stay roughly consistent for another five years (and lets' face it, we're not too worried about Joe's consistency), he'll also graduate to another offensive class and leave Johnny Bench behind.
  10. I honestly think it has to do with health. His rehab is going fine, but it can only go so far before they have to put him into games. The first few innings, my eyeballs tell me he's the same pitcher he was last year. The latter couple he throws (inning 5 or 6 usually) are just not the same. I do think he's earned patience though.
  11. So if Byron Buxton hits a home run off of Archie Bradley, does Sean Connery show up to tell him about the quickening?
  12. So you're saying the front office had a plan and wasn't just ridiculously incompetent? But wait, that does NOT fit the narrative. Whatever will we do?
  13. This makes all the *****ing and moaning in the other threads even less than useless. But fire Terry Ryan anyway! Wharrgarrbbbll!
  14. If I could like this multiple times, I would. I don't understand the pathological need of so many people to see certain Twins' players and front office personnel fail in order to assure themselves that they aren't wrong. I watch baseball to be entertained, not to prove myself right. And this season is much more entertaining than the last two. Is it really that hard to sit back and enjoy it!?
  15. Little known fact: Byron Buxton was Joe Mauer's childhood mentor. #buxtonfacts
  16. I think this kind of gets lost in the shuffle sometimes. In the rush to "get something" for him, we lose sight of the fact that another half year of him IS something. And some scrub in AA who's never getting past Rochester doesn't make me feel better about losing a good player and lifelong Twin. Do we really need another Deolis Guerra? Let me at least enjoy watching Morneau until his curtain call in September.
  17. Sano's only got a few games under his belt at this point. A .067 batting average can be a .367 batting average with only a couple of good days. Besides, if they're going to walk him that much, I say keep taking pitches and getting on base. It'll likely make him a more selective, and better, hitter in the future.
  18. You seem to have missed the point. It isn't that top prospects DON'T go to AAA (read it again; he never said that). It's that "there are few prospects" there. You listed what, ten guys? Out of 750? What's the ratio of AAAA filler to prospects? My guess is that it's pretty damn high. It's all a numbers game. Some top guys may stay there for a whole year, but when they tend to go on to have 10-15 year big league careers, we're not really talking about consistent rosters, are we? In the end, AAA rosters are full of filler because they have to be. The idea is to develop the prospects and then win with the guys who stick around.
  19. Good news. Best to still be careful with him though. He's not a part of the Twins' present, but he's a big part of the Twins' future. Kid gloves, I say.
  20. Honey badgers are scared of Byron Buxton. #BuxtonFacts
  21. When he shows up on the Twins, the team will have Joe Mauer switch numbers so Byron Buxton can wear 7.
