  1. I agree with both of you. Thanks for changing my mind! My thought process was Colabello could DH platoon with Kubel/Parmelee/Arcia or Pinch hit. I think his bat could play in the majors and would like to see him stick around on this continent. I wonder if we have tried to shop him around the league.
  2. He really wasn't terrible in his first attempt in the MLB. He was older when he came up but he was still a rookie. There is still a learning curve when it comes to hitting MLB pitching. I Really hope they let him stick around I would prefer they don't add anyone else and drop Fryer. We don't need him on the 40 man at this time and his contract is ridiculous anyway so I don't think anyone would take that.
  3. I like the move. The kid might need to spend the year in AAA and show he can pitch there first, but moving Doumit for a guy that ranked 4-10 in his organization is a no-brainer. We have plenty of players that have Doumit potential but need to have his playing time to show it.
  4. Completely agree, Seth. I had the same reaction (I believe I read about it on Seth Speaks not positive though). I was quickly ok with the move and, over time, forgot who we gave up for him. After Correia, I don't really get to worked up over FA signings. I will voice my opinion of if I agree or not but I will no longer swear off the team because of a move that they make.
  5. Yohan, not Johan. Yohan Pinto was once a pitcher in the Twins system until he was the PTBNL in the Carl Pavano trade. Welcome back, Yohan!
  6. It's a little soon to make that statement, don't you think?
  7. I would not give Fien for him. Maybe a Duensing/Parmelee or Burton/Parmelee lands both?... If be more interested in Joyce than Lobaton.
  8. If we trade Plouffe, Escobar or possibly even Collabello could hold down 3B. He did play some 3rd base in the minors. If Miggy and Plouffe can hold down 3B I don't see why we can't have a platoon of Collabello and Escobar do well enough until Sano arrives. We are building for the future not next season.
  9. His value could also decrease enough that he would be worth nothing. I honestly don't get how this would be a "bad" move for the Twins. De Aza could slot into a great 4th outfielder with pinch running ability after Buxton and Hicks arrive. Whether its early this year or to start next season, Sano will man 3rd. If Plouffe has enough value to land a quality OF, I'd make the trade. I'm a Plouffe guy but this is a move that could be an even trade this year but work in our favor as the years go on.
  10. Fair enough. I think that it would be nice to have a better outfield option to transition for Buxton this year. De Aza could move to a corner for Willingham if he was traded at the deadline and Hicks or Buxton are up.
  11. I don't think it's as crazy as you guys think. The players are almost a wash and Sano is getting close. Plouffe will not have a position on this team in about a year. I don't believe Plouffe will hurt us as much as De AZa would help us.
  12. Chicago is looking for help at 3rd. They could to be open to trading De Aza or Viciedo to get a 3rd baseman. Would Chicago be open to trading either for Plouffe? I would prefer De Aza to play center for us and steal some bases. I don't think Plouffe would come back to haunt us as he does most of his damage against lefties and we may have a lefty free rotation. Thoughts?
  13. I'm sorry I wasn't clear. I know that this move shows that he is in the rotation. I would like the move more if he was brought in to compete for a job. I don't believe that he has done anything to deserve a spot of the bat. His history and stats are closer deserving of a minor league deal with an invite to ST than a 2/11 deal an a lock for the rotation. Again, I'm just annoyed and nit-picking. It's not the end of the world and I'm not going to blow up like I did when the signed Correia last offseason.
  14. I'm not terribly upset by this, but I really don't get it. I could see Pelfrey coming in to compete with others for the 4/5 spot in the rotation, but he surely has not earned a roster spot. Money is irrelevant to me because I feel the Twins have it to spend, but you can't tell me that there aren't other pitchers available that are just as talented that could compete for a rotation spot. Or perhaps one that deserves a spot. Pelfrey should have had to prove he was better than Gibson, Worley, etc. before receiving a contract that stats he is a lock for the rotation. Underwhelming and mildly annoying move.
  15. I see your point; however, there is also an agent in play that does all the work for him. Think of it like a hiring agency. The company manager goes to HR and tells them to hire another worker. They, in-turn, call up hiring agencies and ask what they have. The agency then calls the client and lets them know that they will be working at the company (pending physical and drug test).
  16. Now that I get who you were talking about, do you care to elaborate on TR not talking to him. Do you like this? Do you think he slacked?
  17. First Scout? I have heard this twice now. Here and about Kris Johnson. What/who is First Scout?
  18. Who are some of the guys that you would have placed on waivers before Hendriks? I'm not arguing with anyone who thinks someone else should have gone before Liam because I agree. Chances he doesn't get claimed? I'd say 5%. Even with his bad numbers in the majors, he is just 25 years old and has a great track record in the minors.
  19. I mentioned back when Seth did his top prospect list that I'm not AS high on Berrios. He got really fatigued last season and I am just not sure if he can make 200+ innings on a consistent bases without getting hurt. I hope I am wrong! With that said, I still have high hopes that he is in our rotation in 3-4 years and is able to contribute when healthy and fresh. I don't want him to switch to relief until it is absolutely necessary.
  20. I agree, Jay. I hope he takes advantage of this opportunity and gets a good couple year career in. Maybe the Twins have found something with these Indy guys. They sign for cheap and are at the peak of their careers. You can get maybe a handful of years from them at minimum prices and move on. I'm cool with that.
  21. Exchange Pelfrey for Garza and BOOM, rotation.
  22. Mike Berardino reports that the Twins are one of about 5 teams in on Navarro.
  23. No, just MLBTradeRumor saying that the Blue Jays and us were in the market. Nothing saying we were in talks with him. Sorry if I lead you astray.
  24. True, but I still think it's fun to consider what you would prefer before the deal rather than after.
