  1. Excellent. Truly excellent. Thank you Brad. Great laughs here.
  2. Thank you Brock. I really appreciate the input of a great many of the posters here. I often find folks I disagree with. Still, it is good to read differing opinions. If everyone here thought the same as I think why would I read this stuff? There would be nothing to learn.
  3. Don't even know where to go with this. Twins have no one in the minors threatening to step up to the middle infield and make a big difference. And with TV revenues going up MI are not going to be cheaper soon. Alas, Carroll will have to play until he's 44. Do we have a clause to keep him from retiring?
  4. I like his attitude. He will be fun to watch, and we may have him around for years.
  5. Alex Meyer pitched 39 innings in A+ ball in 2012. Trevor May pitched about 150 innings in AA with an 4.87 ERA and a WHIP of 1.450. I would think that neither will see MLB action this year unless the Twins are incredibly desperate. On the other hand I have a high regard for your opinion. Really Seth? Might we see these guys on the major league roster this year?
  6. Totally agree with mcrow. For Arcia to be putting up his numbers in AA ball at age 21 (youngest player on the team) is very promising.
  7. Thank you Seth. Fun stuff. People keep referring to the Arizona Fall League (AFL). I don't get too wrapped up in it. It is, for the most part, a small sample size. Last year Souhan wrote this big article on Dozier. Acted like Brian was the next Joe Mauer based on good AFL stats. Hmmm...
  8. If Rich Harden is in his top form he immediately becomes the best pitcher to wear a Twins uniform since Santana left. I suspect it is unlikely to go that way.
  9. I agree. So many people don't get this. Was Puckett the better player? Yes. But it was Hrbek who was the one you really had to look out for. Too many of his hits left the park.
  10. What Doc said. This is exactly my fear with Hicks, too. A little time in AAA just to make sure he is adjusting well there. It is a rare player who goes from AA to MLB without some genuine struggles. Please try to remember how rare a Mauer type of player is. The guy I think most likely to handle the jump is Arcia, but he doesn't play CF.
  11. Riverbrian - Everytime I Single or Double. Perfect. You are ready for the season!
  12. Fun to read. Thank you Brent!
  13. We have so many pitchers showing up already that unless the Twins are going to sign a genuine impact pitcher I see no point. It's just adding one more log to a bonfire.
  14. Favorite Hrbek memory - in the late 80s or early 90s the Twins were playing a game that was out of reach (they were behind, I believe). Hrbek was on first. Tom Kelly gave Hrbek the sign to steal. The pitch was fouled off for strike two. Kelley had him continue to try to steal every pitch as the batter fouled off the next several pitches. Hrbek was huffing back to first after every foul. Kelly & the whole Twins dugout were laughing so hard most could not sit on the bench. Announcers were laughing, too. That is the kind of thing that makes baseball great.
  15. I truly expect Morneau to have a big year. That would help. A lot.
  16. I do not know enough about the relievers to argue about pitchers. I think you are right about the starting rotation. And I think you are exactly right on the fielders. The only one I question is Escobar, though I guess I see no better option at this time. People want to see Hicks, but that would be a bad idea IMHO. All in good time.
  17. Gibson has logged a total of 117.2 innings in AAA with an ERA of 4.67. There is almost no way he will start the year in MLB. Hendriks will get another chance to prove that his minor league stats are not a fluke.
  18. Good point Nick. The bar is set pretty low. Good chance the starting rotation will out-perform last year's stats.
  19. It will be fun to see May work through the system Hope to see him in MLB by 2015 or maybe late 2014. Thanks Seth.
  20. Very nice article. Thank you Parker. He played the way he wanted to. Had he been a jerk, well, that would be one thing. He played hard, comments suggest his teammates liked playing with him and he took pride in his work and his team. A guy who retires with a career OPS+ of 128 and 35.7 WAR has little to apologize for. (FanGraphs WAR = 41.9)
  21. OK, that one made me laugh out loud.
  22. I wonder about Jones having anything but a fastball. How developed are his secondary pitches? A guy who throws that hard has not, historically, had to learn another pitch. Interesting conundrum.
  23. Whay are comments here being deleted?
  24. Completely agree with Cap'n Piranha. IMHO, Arcia is the best pure hitter the Twins have right now other than Mauer. As the youngest player on the Rock Cats he was their most dangerous hitter with the highest OPS (OK, Ramirez was higher, but in only 49 at bats). AAA is definitely a different level, but I expect him to do well and finally start getting the attention he deserves. If Parmelee falters we may very well see Arcia in a Twins uniform this year.
  25. Ceasar Tovar did it all. Played all nine positions one game. Of course, this was a long time ago.
