  1. The same as the argument for Keystone Light over Busch Light.
  2. Well, the Twins could hire a leg-breaker, but I'm afraid that would push them over budget.
  3. His agent forgot to hand out the "proven closer" pamphlets?
  4. I was addressing the crowd in general, not you specifically.
  5. I know this isn't exactly original thinking, but is it possible that the payroll flexibility that they say is still there, really isn't there? That ~$80 million is the new payroll ceiling and they don't want to make that known? I guess I'm just curious what "flexibility" really means in terms of actual dollars.
  6. Single season park factors are troublesome on their own, the simplicity of the ESPN park factors makes it even worse.
  7. How about this? http://picasion.com/pic64/dbe4aa3c3e15741c7611c0f1420279d8.gif

  9. Add in, while Cedeno was putrid as a really young player in the minors, he posted a 900+ OPS in his time at AAA, and generally improved as he went up the ladder. The two players obviously aren't a great comparison offensively.
  10. His point being, you routinely demand proof of others, while never providing any yourself.
  11. Here's a napkin math hypothetical. If Kelly Johnson hits near his career mark, he's worth about 0 runs above average offensively. If Florimon hits like he did last year, he'd be worth about -25 runs in a full season. Assuming that Dozier pairs up full-time with either player, the question becomes, what is the total defensive difference between SS Florimon / 2B Dozier and SS Dozier / 2B Johnson? I'd put Johnson as a -5 at 2nd, Florimon as a +5 at short (not much to work off of), Dozier a 0 at SS and +5 at 2nd. That would give a 15 run benefit to the Florimon/Dozier combo defensively, but a -10 run difference overall. Hypothetically.
  12. The only downside right now is that you risk pushing Correia out of the rotation prematurely if/when Gibson/Hendriks/Pelfrey are all in the rotation together. Downside? Sounds like an upside.
  13. Didn't you berate Nick in another thread over a similarly small improvement? (nevermind that Cedeno's recent history is an improvement over his early years, making his career mark less meaningful)
  14. Hopefully both Dozier and Plouffe play acceptably (both ways), mitigating the need for Carroll to accumulate any plate appearances at those positions and rendering the vesting option moot.
  15. Yeah, all those strikeouts he gets would have been a real drag on our league "best" strikeout rate.
  16. This one's for you Shores, wherever you may be.
  17. That sound you hear is a stick, bang, bang, banging away.
  18. I can understand that, but I take the shot on Marcum regardless, his potential upside is just that much better than Saunders. I would have much preferred a combination of both (without any Correia), but sadly that ship set sail way too early in free agency.
  19. Marcum probably wouldn't want a low-ball two year deal anyway. If he truly believes he's healthy I'm sure he'd rather have the single year and hit the market again next offseason.
  20. If he comes in and pitches great he turns into a pretty attractive trade chip, and you win more games in the process, which helps fill this horrendous hole of apathy they've been digging for themselves. If his arm falls off, you're out a few million bucks they weren't going to spend anyway. This "they suck so why bother trying to improve" line of thought is beyond maddening.
  21. As so eloquently stated in that other thread, "dollars and years." They can't take it if you don't offer it.
  22. You should report any occurrences of this happening in the "Questions About Twins Daily" subform. More specifically, there's a thread in there where others have reported similar problems.
  23. Worley more than likely will be a superior acquisition to Correia, and if the board's newest martyr had been paying a little bit more attention before attempting to throw half the forum under the bus, he would realize that not everyone is "perpetually angry" and that the board could barely contain its excitement over the Span/Revere deals.
  24. Not only did you knock that poor strawman down, you doused it in gasoline and lit it on fire.
