  1. Hey. There are some things that just aren't funny. Nobody messes with Zep.
  2. Wow. Are you posting this from the game? I'd be looking for an usher myself.
  3. Plant, Page, Bonham, Jones. Accept no substitutes.
  4. Either that, or we're talking about Bachmann again.
  5. Check the fronts - throw-back day. Old St Paul Saints uniform and Milwaukee Braves.
  6. Nobody can compare to Papa Tolkien.
  7. "In the place of a Dark Lord you would have a Queen! Not dark but beautiful and terrible as the Morn! Treacherous as the Seas! Stronger than the foundations of the Earth! All shall love me and despair!"
  8. One is a person near the end of a career, and the other is a baseball player.
  9. Anybody want to do an over/under bet on how many pages this thread gets to before the last out is made?
  10. Sorry. This is a game thread. Any discussion about the game itself is not allowed.
  11. Sounds like it was a good move all around. Rochester is 6-1 since Benson left.
  12. I'm not sure at this point what we could get in return for Morneau. He still has value to the franchise, so you don't give him away like Liriano or Young. But given his health history and relative lack of production this year (compared to previous years pre-injury) may cut down what would be offered in return for a trade. Do we know if Justin wants to stay here? Or is he seeking to test the FA market? I don't think he can do both - I can't see us offering him a contract similar to the one he is finishing up. Does anyone know/have a guess what the level of a qualifying offer will be this off-season?
  13. Heck, let's create a new medical definition for this one: Roaming calf cramps - they can strike either leg at any time.
  14. Age? Lingering effects of the two lost seasons? Inadvertent technical changes in swing? Not the best way to start a contract year.
  15. Given the average innings pitched by a Twins starter this season, aren't we already doing this? Sorry, couldn't resist.
  16. Has to be A-Plouffe to DL. Otherwise Colabello has to spend 10 days in Rochester before being eligible for recall.
  17. I missed all the hub-bub too, since I'm not a part of the sabermetric community, but I can understand how a group that has traditionally felt underappreciated (such as sabermetricians) can be extra sensitive to what is perceived as criticism, whether or not it was intended as such. I see that in life all the time.
  18. I've had a calf injury - got it playing softball. Even after it "healed" it was still prone to reinjury - I had to skip games a couple of times later in the season.
  19. Is this in response to his earlier post on this thread? I thought that was actually well written with good points.
  20. I agree with these points completely, and I don't know enough about lineup construction to know whether the points in this article are valid or not. That said, I did find the title, of the article and the thread, to be a little condescending. Phrasing it this way made it seem to me like just another "dogpile on Gardy" thread, and IMO those have gotten old.
  21. Really? We're going to be critical of the manager when, post-change, we've won 3 straight?
  22. Way to go, Chris! Now that's taking one for the team!
  23. I'm in MDT - does that mean I'm sorta lazy?
