  1. Turns out it was more like their first, and last toe-dip in the water, with nary a ripple to show for it. In the meantime, the Blue Jays (24% comprised of Ex-Twins cast-offs- a total of 6 out of 25) will be lapping the Twins for the last Wild Card spot during their 4 game series next week (and that's a likely outcome, even with the Twins dodging David Price).
  2. Yes, when I think of the top 4 available RPs before the deadline,Clippard, Papelbon, Lowe and Aroldis Jepman.... oh wait, I guess that's not what you meant.
  3. This. I've been banging the drum on chatting up the Marlins since before the ASG. They proved they could be had in the latest dea; with LA and Atlanta. They have a history of making wholesale changes casting off their best talent and just blowing things up completely. I am curious to find out if Ryan even made one phone call inquiry to Miami.
  4. Yep. This is why I've had great doubts about him, too. But the Twins also gave up another hard-throwing young arm, as well, for a veteran putting up replacement-level numbers. Why strip your SP depth (remembering that Hu actually acquitted himself well in one AAA appearance) for someone, who by definition, could be replaced by any number of current AAA arms at 29 other systems, or all the other pitchers who are about to be DFAd after today's trading flurry?
  5. Which one said that? I'd like to buy him a beer. And here I thought that the Twins had finally moved past that stage of being the butt of all the MLB-franchise-ineptitude-champion jokes by the national media. It's like Terry actually enjoys wearing a "Kick Me" sign on his back.
  6. Nitpicking, I know.. but just what changed in 6 minutes?
  7. As noted previously, there will probably be two-three dozen better-than-Jepsen's available on the waiver wire by next Monday. And Jepsen himself, too. Nothing trade, that could easily turn out to be worse than that.
  8. As I stated previously... It is a whole lot of nothing. I think most of us recognize this basic fact, why do this type of trade, at all? It doesn't fix things this year, and only makes things more complicated-by-excess-mediocrity next year.
  9. I wish Terry Ryan understood the concept of NOT making a trade just to make a trade. Clearly the Twins could have done much better, examples abound, it just would have required a little more imagination and legwork. Jepsen's reaction to the trade? Don't worry Kevin, as long as Terry and his veteran-RP-loving ways are around, you'll always have a job.
  10. Nice smackdown, Mike. (Almost) no one is "over-reacting" here. Just noting a bad trade that accomplished nothing.
  11. Shocked that people would overrate our acquisitions.
  12. I admit, I've been pretty cautionary on Hu as a bit of a one-trick-pitch pony. But this is an awful move, as I said, you could have gotten a really good RP from Miami for Hu and another Top 10-20 prospect.
  13. Seriously, the Twins probably wouldn't have had to offer all that much more to the Marlins to get Capps or AJ Ramos.
  14. The Rays may have changed management, but fleecing the Twins is evidently still in the operator's manual on Page One.
  15. And Tapia. Wow.
  16. I guess she overcame her fears by the time Showgirls came out?
  17. A ROOGY this year?
  18. And as we all hold our breath....
  19. Who is playing the role of Wilson Ramos in this deal?
  20. Definitely never a fan of trading straight-up a potential future position mainstay for a RP, any RP.
  21. I don't understand why the Twins aren't in on a potential fire sale in Miami. They got fleeced by the Braves and Dodgers. Take on a big contract or two and they can pick up some of their young pitching and position talent, and based on how the Marlins typically operate, it wouldn't cost much.
  22. We were talking about starting out a career, not random months. And even in the context that you use, 531 out of what?, hundreds of thousands of individual one month performance measures, 531st is also historically bad.
  23. Nolasco? And if it comes with a package of say, Maurer?
  24. I'm not arguing the point, just pointing out that he didn't get hurt sliding in 2014.
