  1. Sorry for stepping on your post, unrefreshed thread on my part...
  2. So....as Gibson will be approaching 60 IP in Roc. in his next start this weekend....and who knows how many more starts left pitching for the Wings....that only leaves around 10 or so available major league starts for Gibson. He'll be done by mid-August.
  3. Racked up 9 IP in 2 0f 3 previous starts.
  4. I responded to Brock before reading your post. Good points, but that's where they stand now, check the trends, Correia is currently on pace regression in May to.... fully realzing a rediscovery of his inner Correia. Last night's disturbing performance was the exact opposite of how he pitched in April. Meanwhile, Worley has nowhere to go but up- hopefully his last outing is a reflection on some postive sideline adjustments he's made.
  5. Correia self-admittedly joined in for some BP fun, himself, last night.
  6. Misses the Rays point. They appear to want their prized talent on the field ASAP, to maximize the still-undetermined "ceiling potential" added to potential trade value. I think they think they are better off having a talented, but inexperienced player on the roster with large, and potentially growing, trade value over a higher-priced veteran with shrinking trade value.
  7. I never understood how the agents were able to sneak the "Bonus Baby" rule back into the system in the first place. The players union must have been asleep there for awhile.
  8. The "control thing" is far down the Rays list of concerns, for most of their players, they are on tradewatch from the day they first put on a major league uniform. They are already shopping David Price around even with 2 more years of team control.
  9. 1) Not quite as fast, to be equivalent developmentally, Buxton would need to called up next August. That's my preference, get him 50 games in 2014 to have him ready to hit the ground running in 2015 and try to avoid a Hicks-type debut. 2) Sano could never have Machado's glove, but I'm still hopeful that Sano can be the superior long-term prospect, and have a Pujols type of career, which I think WAR-wise would edge out Machado (assuming he ends up at the premium SS position, which is still in doubt). 3) Very fair point, one I've railed on for years. But I still have the sneaking suspicion that the Twins international prospects would be moving up faster in other organizations.
  10. No grey area there huh? I must have voted wrong. Just following the poster's logic here: If, Gardy haters are "birthers" Then, Gardy lovers are "truthers"
  11. He lost me on the line before, the one he didn't see fit to edit
  12. Fools hope? Looks like we're at the gates of Mordor out there...Correia appeared to want no part of a good, but not great Braves lineup. Imagine when KC actually enters through the Black Gate and into the realm- ie, this Saturday in Detroit- AKA Mount Doom- The Tigers are 1st in the enitre MLB realm in Runs Scored/BA/OBP and OPS. Like Froto said in LOTR, I think Correia is at about this point: "It's just a feeling. I don't think I'll be coming back."
  13. Even Valencia brought back a Rookie League player, Pineda, who was leading the GCL in BA at the time. Decks get shuffled, being able to deal Parm for something of value will require some extended period of relative success.
  14. Great update. Clete Thomas (has missed much of May), Eddie Rosario (keeps getting HBP, please not yet another injury setback...)?
  15. All that is true, but didn't Jake have "super seniority", with time served in the organization, plus his own place in Florida and of course, his brother? Seth, have you had any contact with Minty? I presume he would only take this job if he feels he was told he has a strong shot at getting back on the major league staff, ultimately as the manager.
  16. I would like to see it, hope they have the discernment to realize it's past time for a change in cultures. Now about that pitching coach change...does Dave Duncan have pitching proteges currently looking for work? I like Jack Morris, but I'm not sure if he's the right guy for the job.
  17. Young guys have been sent down to AAA for time immemorial, good time to work on specific things without the glaring spotlight. The Twins have been patient with Hicks and his development up until this year, no reason they can't revisit that approach if the situation eventually forces itself- without any long-term damage to the Hicks psyche. Richardson is Revere-love, Part Deux. Place-holder on very temporary assignment.
  18. Does anyone know for certain of Dougie-Fresh's relationship with Ryan? It seems like they must have parted on good terms in the trade to the Red Sox back in his playing days-- after all, to get hired, he booted "The Franchise's" brother out of a gig managing the best minor league potential talent in all of baseball.
  19. The Twins for years have been stuffing Rochester chock full with filler career AAAA guys, understandable to some degree to maintain a good relationship with the community owners; but has that trend now been picked up at New Britain, as well? Antoan Richardson (since moved to Roc.), Curt Smith, now Parraz and Petit? I thought the organization was awash in OF prospects???
  20. Words to that effect. No objective person could endure those first 4 innings and characterize anything in that performance which should draw a positive review. While he did hit his "hold the opposition to 4-5 runs..." part, he failed to meet the 2nd part of his TD-Certified, "Correia Suckitude of Success" standard, only giving his team 4, not "5-6", forgettable innings. Many of his pitches bore resemblances to a BP-friendly pre-game routine, like in the case of Uggla's HR. Other times it was clear he doesn't have any confidence at going right at hitters and mixing it up by coming inside- and resultantly, many of his pitches were fat.... or Phat!, if you prefer.
  21. And if sent down, the Twins would be short a Spanish translator? But seriously, doesn't Ramirez have to clear waivers to be sent down? Regarding the last series/homestand.....I think the abounding negative vibe was correlated with a Twins performance that was uncomfortably reminiscent of the bad times of 2011 and 2012. At times it looked like every aspect of their game was coming unraveled. On Sunday, the two muffed fly balls, one for a HR, coupled with the multiple strikeouts with both RISP and bases loaded were certainly disconcerting omens of a possible extended collapse....we've all been there the last couple of years.
  22. My money is on Walters.....pitched well on Saturday night....
  23. I think you might want to add the "(for now)" qualifier for Worley, as well.
  24. Hey, maybe he was just making a "quiet" point?
