  1. The club is now officially piling on with... well.... feel free to decide what you think is going on...in what, may we now call, "The Hicks Affair"? In the midst of a light and celebratory post-game presser after an impressive win over the Yankees, Gardy went out of his way to take yet another dig at Hicks. Hicks was benched for the 3rd straight game, despite declaring that he was ready to play, but the story behind the story turns out to be getting even stranger by the day. And now with the extent of Santana's eyelid injury yet unclear, be sure to tune in tomorrow, for the continuing story of... "All My Centerfielders"
  2. Yeah, Plouffe has turned into Mr Durable. A real testament to his focus on offseason strength and conditioning and prehab workouts.
  3. Yes on Rosario, he was 1-5 and still playing CF. And what about Mark Hamburger?
  4. Big changes in the Twins lineup tonight, but I don't want to steal fellow WindyCity-ite, Chitown's, Lineup Thunder. I love the Snake Plissken reference, by the way.
  5. He's a Top 60-Top100 prospect by various different neutral rating services. While I agree, he's definitely a ways off offensively as a big leaguer, and as a 2nd Basemen, but as he's been an OFer all his life and is extremely fast, he'd probably be perfectly acceptable (when compared to the alternatives) as a MLB CF....I really don't see the evidence that the fans are overrating him.
  6. The punishment?/injury?/Wally Pipping? of Hicks continues tonight in the Big Apple: 1. Danny Santana (S) CF 2. Brian Dozier ® 2B 3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 4. Josh Willingham ® LF 5. Oswaldo Arcia (L) RF 6. Trevor Plouffe ® 3B 7. Kurt Suzuki ® C 8. Eduardo Nunez ® DH 9. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS
  7. I don't know if this will help, but...... "And starting tonight as your Twins DH, and going up for the first time against his former team, Eduardo Nunez." 1. Danny Santana (S) CF 2. Brian Dozier ® 2B 3. Joe Mauer (L) 1B 4. Josh Willingham ® LF 5. Oswaldo Arcia (L) RF 6. Trevor Plouffe ® 3B 7. Kurt Suzuki ® C 8. Eduardo Nunez ® DH 9. Eduardo Escobar (S) SS
  8. Not that you were poking at my post specifically, but I think we all accept the element of the unpredictability of unfortunate circumstances in our posts, and I thought mine made it clear that is was as much expressing disappointment of the string of bad luck outcomes, as it was in criticism of the promotion philosophy. (And as a result, implicitly wondering if the delay of the Big 3 position players with their situations spilled over into deciding to roll back the whole general promotion process for another year?) Seth, have you heard things not published yet about May and Meyer? The last things I read from Anthony about where Meyer is at made it seem very doubtful that something was going to happen with him any time soon, and with Antony officially announcing an innings limitation for Meyer in that same article, perhaps even doubtful that he even gets a September call. And perhaps I've missed something, but is there something published out there that indicates that May is an imminent call-up?
  9. Yep, I was with Thrylos until he mentioned Antony. Andy MacPhail is available to be the interim GM while he awaits the decision on a successor to Bud Selig, McPhail is a lead candidate to replace Selig. And Jim Pohlad sits on the Commisioner Search Committee, so he's in a position in close proximity to MacPhail at the moment. I think a fresh and removed point of view, but also a familiar face and experienced baseball executive would be the perfect short-term hire.
  10. Given what has happened at the big league level, I think it's fair to say that Rosario likely would be with the Twins right now in CF if he hadn't been suspended and just performed at a minimally acceptable level in the minors. Whether he gets called up now or not remains to be seen, but I can easily see him getting at the very least a September call-up, provided all is forgiven and he performs OK.
  11. If Bremer said it, it's gospel.
  12. I missed that one, thanks for the heads up, reliable source- directly through the mouthpiece. Gardy has just set up the ultimate paranoia play to recall Hermann, not only is he the 3rd Catcher, 3rd Center Fielder (work in progress, apparently), now he can be our 3rd First Baseman, too. It was just crazy not pinch-hitting Parmelee against RHP, he clearly gave the team the best chance to win over the singles-hitting right hand options, or Kurt Suzuki. Chris Hermann solves everything...and..."No Added Sugar!"
  13. It seems like the Twins default position is always delaying when tomorrow finally gets here. Obviously, some developments this year are out of their control Let me continue in the spirit of our "differences". I fully expected Sano to be up by sometime in May, Meyer in June after the Super 2 date, Buxton after the All Star Game, and Rosario on September 1st....and joined then by May and Vargas. At this point, with the Twins current philosophy, recycling bad veteran starters and relievers, playing a 32 year old catcher 6 days a week over the team's 3rd best bat, and in another example, of promoting Chris Hermann as meaningless filler for a West Coast roadtrip over better options (saved money on air fare for Arcia and service time for Vargas), I hold doubt that any of my predictions will hold, except for a call-up or two....perhaps either May or Meyer after Correia is traded, but Pelfrey will be given every possible chance to claim Correia's spot first, probably followed by Darnell and Johnson.
  14. Hopefully, it's not much more than a couple weeks, max, with the Miracle.
  15. You are onto something, here. At first blush, the Twins Way would almost demand that Rosario be punished for his 2nd offense transgression. But, does Hicks' performance, refusal to go to winter ball, public reprimand for work habits, and most recently the switch-hitting bombshell, override any concern about how to proceed with Rosario? It's hard to imagine that Rosario would be ready to face major league pitching by July 1- Santana obviously has the edge at the plate, but there's no doubt Rosario would be a better CF than Santana. Pick your poison.
  16. Didn't mean to put words in your post that weren't there, my bad. The fact that the Miracle has established guys in their infield might be all this is, but I would operate on the assumption (until proven different), that Rosario is a priority minor league prospect over Vielma as the first future potential 2nd Baseman behind Dozier- or in the other instance- for anyone else currently on active duty in the entire Twins mnor league system in CF, if Rosario plays in CF for the duration of his tenure in Ft Myers, and then right away when he reaches NB, we'll have more definitive certainty.
  17. Kubel's bonus has already been earned and credited. Perhaps it could be considered a severance package, paid forward?
  18. Yeah...."America, Love It or Leave It" never worked for me, either.
  19. ***I vote for ScottyB to take Rob Antony's spot, Interim GM genius!
  20. And we can add historical dots, like Dozier solidifying 2nd. And Rosario reversing his trend from CF-only in 2011, part-time CF/mostly 2B in 2012, full-time only 2B in 2013...to first game in 2014 in CF (and considering the MI logjam at Ft Myers). Maybe nothing as JB suggests, but if more dots are added, first in Ft Myers, and then, where he can have his pick of positions in NB, we'll start filling in the matrix.
  21. Yup. But is he a prospect? I'd like to get an update from the great prospect gurus in our community on Wheeler. How many starters with a K% of 13.4% in High A become successful major league pitchers?
  22. Pretty excellent take overall.* There was a method to the Twins madness when they pushed Rosario to 2nd in the first place- his bat appears to play best either at 2nd or CF rather than corner OF, but it's uncertain if his glove can play at either of the 2 premium defensive spots. 2nd base has solidified at the major league level....and CF....which was a position of strength, up and down the entire organization in 2012.... is now in utter chaos. *Re:..."no current outfielders to shed tears over".....Oswaldo Arcia is still a keeper in my book.....until he proves himself too Delmonesque in the field to then be relegated to the DH role. Certainly, rather than lose him for nothing, he would bring a strong return in trade.
  23. Yes. And actually, he has demonstrated that he hit well above league average. Can't you just admit you were entirely wrong in your previous post on the details of your assessment? I'm not advocating anything. I'm merely noting what the Twins have done today with Rosario's reinstatement and that what he accomplished last year with his .742 OPS is simply the jumping off point for the Twins, to see if he can logically progress from there, in a truncated season of 2014, to a point where he can earn a look-see in September..... at a position at the major league level that is in complete chaos and crisis mode... and no ready answer going into 2015. Is it forcing the issue? Yes. But desperate times require desperate measure. This would be one option for possibly addressing their desperation.
  24. That is an interesting question. I get the sense that the club is pretty exasperated with Hicks, especially when words like "drama" are now being used next to Hicks' name. Getting bombshell unilateral ultimatums from guys putting out less than fringe Major league performances will make managers unload a little frustration on a reporter. Regarding Santana, I would have to think that the Pitchers and their agents have expressed their displeasure with this OF circus. When the organization should be putting virtually all of its off-field focus on the upcoming draft, they have completely temporarily derailed Santana's challenge to the SS position, forstalling answers to the Twins most important unanswered question mark among postion players......and through a dilemma largely of their own making, they have themselves scrambling night and day just to keep the CF tourniquets secure.
