  1. The organization obviously had talent. There was a solid young core, no doubt in my mind. That doesn’t change the fact that the Twins were exiting their worst season in team history. A lot of the players that drove the 2019 team to 101 wins might have been here when the current regime took over, but very few of them were actually good. Buxton was bad in 2016. Berrios was awful in 2016. The pitching cupboards were nearly bare and that doesn’t even account for the three consecutive wasted Top 6 picks from 2013-15.
  2. I agree with your post except for this statement. They inherited literally the worst team in Twins history. Many of the Ryan-drafted core players that are good today weren’t actually good when the current regime took over. Not trying to give them a pass for 2021 but to say that the franchise was in a good spot in November of 2016 is not accurate.
  3. That’s a lot of holes to fill in one offseason. I’ve said this before and I still stand by it, the # of games the Twins win in 2022 will depend on how much the pipeline produces. If it does produce, I think the Twins could have a fighting chance in 2022. But this is the year which that needs to start happening, if there is baseball this year. If it doesn’t then it’s a failure.
  4. Indeed. Wilson, Mahomes, Herbert, Carr…wow.
  5. When did I ever say they were?
  6. The Seahawks aren’t a good team, even with Wilson.
  7. That’s a king’s ransom!
  8. The biggest impact of Missed Baseball (for me) is that I don’t have any baseball to watch. That’s a problem.
  9. What a tough road it has been for Lewis with two consecutive lost seasons (one due to COVID and the other due to an ACL tear). Wish him all the best and I hope he becomes a core piece on the team one day.
  10. Welcome to TD! @yellan I’m not sure how you would find this. Normally I would say a baseball savant search is the way to go but my method would require watching video of all of the plays that come up in the search.
  11. If you’re saying that I should throw the 2020 staff’s stats (which weren’t decent, they were very good) out the window entirely in favor of the eye test then I am at a loss for words.
  12. Maybe I interpreted this the wrong way, but LVTwinsFan saying, “2020 season? That’s cute,” gave me that implication. If I was wrong to interpret it that way, then I apologize. Yes, it’s a small sample size, I agree. 100%. It can’t be judged on the same merits as a 162 game season.
  13. The difference with the Marlins is that 2020 was their first winning season since 2009. Ten ****ing years since they were a good team. And the year after that, they were dog**** again. For the Twins 2020 was their third winning season in four years, including a 100-win season the preceding year. Major difference there.
  14. It’s a small sample size, but it’s still a valid sample. That doesn’t mean it should just be discarded.
  15. Should the Dodgers World Series Win not count? Of course it should count. Other teams played under the same conditions. It seems like you’re just discarding it because it’s not convenient to your point.
  16. I mean in 2020 their pitching staff practically carried them throughout the season.
  17. The 2021 Twins were definitely disappointing to many of us, for many reason. The Starting Rotation imploding, Colome blowing game after game, literally constant injuries, you name it. The question of the day is “How surprising was this to you?”
  18. Possibly. He did show promise at the Major League level last year (he had an ERA+ of around 100), so I think he could get better in 2022. Of course I could be wrong and we shouldn’t rely on him as one of our top starters
  19. What is there to suggest there’s a strong chance he won’t stick? I mean he’s not going to be the ace of the staff (at least I hope not) but I don’t think it’s unfair to slot him in at one of the 3-5 spots.
  20. I'm sorry hawk but he isn't a top manager ,,, look what hinch did with Detroit ,, Not once have I said he’s a Top 5 manager. Of course Hinch is better. I do however think he’s an upper tier manager. Look what the old has been larussa did with white Sox I really have a hard time grasping this argument right here. It seems like you’re trying to say that LaRussa is a good manager and leader. Do you remember the incident involving Yermin Mercedes that was all over the news? How can you look at that and think LaRussa is the right man for that team? On the other hand, LaRussa’s managing style is incredibly dated. Baldelli had a talented team? Well LaRussa had a talented team as well. even last year Rocco could have won a few more games if he made better choices with what he had on the roster ,,, Would that really make you think better of his performance? If they went 78-84 instead of 73-89? It’s hard for a manager to ever look good with a losing record. Rocco took leave to have a baby delivered and his replacement won 4 in arow and went 4-1 ... Ah yes. Because Bill Evers’ whopping five games definitely has more validity than Baldelli’s 300+…
  21. I wish there were more color commentators like Romo. Not an Aikman fan, but at least he’s not Collinsworth. Joe Buck probably isn’t leaving, because his contract expires in 2023. Maybe Greg Olsen replaces Aikman.
  22. The players performed well. So ****ing what? That doesn’t mean he gets all of the blame and zero of the credit. If players performing well can mask a manager’s flaws, couldn’t literally constant injuries and a hodgepodge pitching staff make life for the manager more difficult?
  23. https://nypost.com/2022/02/23/troy-aikman-close-to-leaving-fox-for-monday-night-football/amp/ Looks like Troy Aikman is leaving FOX to go to ESPN. It appears there are rumors around Joe Buck as well.
