I keep hearing the Twins are full of corner guys and DH's yet they trot out Escobar in LF and Nunez at DH. I don't really care about shortstop, if you want to give it to Danny Santana or Escobar I don't care, but as far as I'm concerned, Sano can DH and play a little 3B, and Kepler can go play LF right now, As for roster moves, go down to 12 pitchers and send Vargas back to AAA, cuz him on the bench does absolutely no good. Hicks-Santana Sano-Vargas Kepler-pitcher Eventually I'd just get rid of Nunez put Polanco at SS and make Escobar the utility guy They might not be ready, but I'd rather have a "not-ready" Kepler in LF and Sano at DH than the options being trotted out there day in and day out. Its why I've become more of a Cubs fan in recent years, they say lets throw our prospects out there, lets find a position for them and see what happens where the Twins are like well you know, if we wait another 3 weeks and see how so and so is doing, well I'm not sure, and then they finally do call them up and they struggle and they send them back down.

Kepler and Berrios in the Futures Game
joeboo_22 replied to John Kelsey's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
I thought it was 2 per squad (4 total), I have no clue Sano has done it before, Kepler hasn't, but Kepler is a European/true German, so I'm guessing that helped (his .340 ba with a ton of xbh didn't hurt either). This is a futures game, Rene Tsoni once won the MVP, Matt Tolbert played in it, don't get all strung hurt if someone made it over someone else, its a stupid all-star game, its just cool because you get to see the guys play on a MLB field, on TV. Walker is good, but every scout says he has a swing/approach that won't last in the majors, whether that is true or not IDK -

Tonkin Optioned. Who Replaces Him? It's Meyer!
joeboo_22 replied to John Bonnes's topic in Minnesota Twins Talk
I feel as if Tonkin just won't work in Minnesota, unless the Twins change the size of the leash, can't give him 5 innings and get mad if he struggles. As for the call-up my guess is Thielbar or Meyer, unless they call up a Sano or a Kepler for a few games? IDK, they'll probably call someone up just to call someone up -
TD Midseason Top Prospects: #9 Max Kepler
joeboo_22 replied to Parker Hageman's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
With Kepler he has had a solid year, he had a little bit of a slump in late May/Early June before the recent tear. However there are numerous questions on whether he is a prospect or not, and if so is it real. There have been plenty of Twins to have tears at AA, Joe Benson is a great example. The thing that makes me think he is a legit prospect is, he has always been very young for his league, and has noted wasn't healthy in years he has struggled. Is there HR power? no, but in looking at him, he could still put on a little weight. The question is what position does he play, and its a question where you hear so many different responses you aren't sure what they are. TR says he is a CF and its his best position but they play him elsewhere because of Buxton, Now he plays a bunch at 1B, but is that because he can't play LF better than someone else or is it that 1B makes the most sense for the team? Its just confusing, As for future moves I'd move him up to AAA later this week, him at AA does little to no good for the Twins, he is on the 40 man roster, and having him play great in AA does very little, now I do understand the he is still young and is finally having success but when I look at the Twins and see holes at DH and OF I feelas if anyone in those positions should be pushed somewhat hard. -
The move of Polonco must mean that Mauer is close to coming back? you'd think if it was any significant playing time they would bring up Pinto right?

With the Cubs getting another shortstop, I'd try to figure a way to get Sterlin Castro, if you look at the Twins system, its not exactly there at SS, yeah we have Santana and Polanco and some others, but all of them are flyers. Castro could be a shortstop for the next 5-6 years. I'd try to figure something out

Alex Meyer Rerun or just showing More Consistency
joeboo_22 replied to jokin's topic in Twins Minor League Talk
It depends what they need, there is no real reason to call up Meyer for 1 or 2 starts. At the same time if they say good buy Correia or say Pelfry your going on an extended vacation to the bullpen or wherever then its a different story. I still say I'd give May the shot first, the reason being we have to see what he is. If he obviously can't cut it, send him back down and make him a reliever, I don't want this Hendricks stuff where we basically lose a potential starter because we are stubborn. -

Article: Twins Trade Justin Morneau To Pirates
joeboo_22 replied to howeda7's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
Trading him is the right move, he deserves the right to play for a playoff contender and will help the Pirates down the stretch. The issue I have is the Twins trade him for nothing but were demanding a top prospect for Willingham if you are going to sell, sell everyone. Doumit, relief pitchers, anyone who can return a bucket of practice balls -
I'm guessing Kepler will be there, he missed the first half, is versatile all 3 OF positions + 1B. they probably want him to get some more AB's and see some higher talent. Others? Maybe Tonkin but I'd be surprised he'll be a September call-up and I believe was in the AFL last year. My guess is they go more the DeVries, Hermsen, Hermann, route, not that big of prospects but guys who a decision will be need to be made on this winter.

Article: Trading Perkins Makes Too Much Sense
joeboo_22 replied to twinstalker's topic in Twins Daily Front Page News
They should be open to trading Perkins but I think it has to be a no doubt issue, and I'm against trading him within the division. He is too young and cheap, its one thing to trade him for pieces to help you for the coming decade, but if you have to play against him for the next decade it makes the trade haul a little less attractive. I guess what it would take for me is a top 30 prospect starting pitcher in AA(Alex Myerish) or higher, a major league caliber middle infielder who is a B+ prospect (something like a Florimon who hits a tad better). And then a AA B/c pitching prospect (Treinen for Nats) and then a lower level prospect who has some upside potential (like a Beckham for the Rays) And I just don't know if a team who is contention is willing to make that trade. Maybe it happens, maybe it doesn't -
I think he'll be at 1st or RF, probably 1st if he can learn the position. I believe he has played there some in the minors and possibly a game or 2 in the majors as well.

I'd trade some bullpen guys if the price was right, always seems like a team or two over pays for a reliever. Same with starters, if someone wants Corriea or Diamond, or Sam Deduno then fine. I wouldn't trade Perkins as he is a hometown kid, good closer and is young enough where he will still be around in a year or two when this team can turn it around. Mourneau- the problem with him, is I feel unless he brings a decent return which I doubt, it won't look good to the casual fans. Keeping him for the rest of the year might be the best choice. Unless of course some team is willing to overpay. Willingham- He's got another year, so its not like we have to trade him, he could get more over the off-season, I thought they should have traded him last year, he hasn't been healthy, he has struggled. But again its one of those if he gets a decent return, go for it. Doumit- I'd trade him if the offer was right, he's alright, but he's awful in the OF, not great as a C. Again though under contract for next year as well, so its not a firesale type of situation.

With the #1 recruit I don't think Texas A&M is doing this to throw Stewart under the bus by any means. Every football team is trying to get the #1 QB recruit in that class every year. It does hurt Stewart though, probably quite a bit, he goes from having solid leverage to little.
