  1. Oakland has the worst offense in the majors hands-down. That's the main negative I can think of in this situation. However, I don't understand how you can say it wasn't a strong performance. 9 strikeouts and a double play in 6 innings is ridiculous. I think what you're getting at is that it looks better on paper, but for me stats are stats. He was missing bats like crazy and didn't struggle with the strike zone. Liriano played to his advantages and I doubt he couldn't have pitched any better.
  2. WHY?! Why does he do this to his?! All I wanted was for him to get a few quality starts so the Twins could trade him and slam the door shut once and for all. But good lord, with a masterful outing such as tonight, it's so difficult for me to not get pumped! You just don't want to see someone who is capable of performing on an elite level leave. I hate the way Liriano messes with our minds. I feel so torn, but my brain still realizes it's the wrong move to keep him. Although, my heart says otherwise.
  3. That's sad news. I was a big fan of his after he proved to be one of the only reliable arms out of the pen last year.
  4. He must still be "hurt".
  5. I don't like BABIP as much for batters as I do pitchers. I just thought it was notable, because it's flat out ridiculous. And as RiverBrian said, I wasn't paying much attention to xBABIP, but I did mention that Plouffe would likely be below the MLB average BABIP (which you confirmed).
  6. The Padres officially signed him. We're still stuck with his salary, which is depressing. http://espn.go.com/mlb/story/_/id/7985613/source-jason-marquis-agrees-deal-san-diego-padres
  7. If the Twins draft Buxton, he instantly becomes their best prospect. I don't know if you can say the say about any other player in the draft. I think that's how you can gauge the best player available. Who provides the most potential and flash to the farm?
  8. I believe the average mark is .300 for BABIP. Plouffe has always been well below that mark, but when it's that low I have to imagine that there is some bad luck involved. Last year his was .286 which is slightly below average, but reasonable since he isn't much of a line drive hitter. In that season, he was hitting .238. I think it's possible that he could hit for a line like this: .245/.340/.395 If he can get his glove in order, Plouffe isn't too bad an option at 3B. Although, he wouldn't be an asset either. For a RF? Not a chance.
  9. I'm trying to think of who's left. Gibson Harrison Benson Hicks Sano Rosario Arcia Boyd Henriks (If he counts?) ? You got me on this one
  10. Great choice for hitter of the day! A lot of them could have made a strong case.
  11. He now has a 6.30 ERA in May. Better cut him loose while we still can....
  12. He has an extremely low BABIP that is at .152. So in addition to not being very good, he has had some abysmal luck as well.
  13. The only reason I did so was to show they were next in line for a call up. Options aren't an issue with any of them, so I don't see a problem.
  14. There is one open spot after I DFA'd Gray. EDIT: I didn't catch the other guy who corrected it. Never mind.
  15. No one in their right mind can blame Capps for giving up a home run to Miguel Cabrera. One of the greatest hitters in the game came through for his team. It's sad, but it happens.
  16. We've had posts like this in the past, but I think now is a good time for one. The Twins seem to be making a lot of questionable moves and now is your chance for some suggestions. Crazy or not, anything goes! Here is what I'd try. 1. Clean up the 40 man roster DFA Jeff Gray and Tsuyoshi Nishioka Add Anthony Slama, Sean Burroughs, and Pedro Florimon 39/40 Spots Filled 2.Promotions for the new open 25 man spot Move Danny Valencia to the Major League Twins. 3. Further Cuts Release AAA players Clete Thomas and Brian Dinkelman Promote Benson and Tosoni back to AAA 4. Oswaldo Arcia Watch him carefully and consider an advancement to New Britain.
  17. This is a big head scratcher. Komatsu has more value than Mastroianni and has been performing better. Although if the Twins lose Komatsu, I doubt it will haunt them at all. There are two reasons why the Twins may have opted for Mastro instead. The first could be that they want the big league club to have another utility man. Darin is a little faster than Komatsu and has the advantage in the field. The other is Mastroianni's ability to play 2B and OF, whereas Komatsu is solely an outfielder.
  18. If Sano were to move to 1st, he's taking an EXTREMELY similar path to another Miguel a few of us have heard about. I hope we get similar results.
  19. Ah I see, sorry for the confusion. Good update. I guess I got worked up over nothing. It was nice to speculate and get a clubhouse response to the issue in case something like this were to happen. I think we're all a little shocked that Slama is #3 or even lower on the totem pole.
  20. I hope you don't mind me asking Seth, but when will your Top Prospects Series return? I've really enjoyed it so far and am getting a little anxious for the top 20. I'm just curious and don't want to rush you or anything!
  21. 1. Josh Hamilton 2. Miguel Cabrera 3. Ryan Braun 4. Joey Votto 5. Albert Pujols 6. Matt Kemp 7. Paul Konerko 8. Jose Bautista 9. Carlos Gonzalez 10. Dustin Pedroia
  22. I'm extremely curious as to where you are seeing people judging Slama on his MLB appearances. I fail to see anyone mention them in any previous posts. Regardless, all three in contention for the new spot have the makings of good right handed relievers for the bullpen. I think it's a great idea to give Blackburn the long reliever role to possibly get something of value for Swarzak.
  23. Let's just pray he can string a few good starts together and that somewhere, someone in a front office is a little too far off their rocker.
  24. I hate to say it, but Michael is starting to look like a bust. We never had high expectations anyway though. I'm disappointed in Maloney. I was hoping he might provide some worth to the Twins in his new role. There is still time. I get affected easily by small sample sizes out of pure fanaticism. It's my downfall.
