  1. I think it's possible for 3 years if he really cruises through the minors. Very, VERY, unlikely I might add!
  2. That would be extremely unlikely. Hicks is really only 2 years away and Buxton is 18 years old. He's good, but not Bryce Harper good.
  3. I see what you mean, but I'm really just trying to say I'd rather draft a 1st tier OF (at a position of "no need")than a 2nd tier SP (position of need).
  4. I noticed that right away too. But this statement from the article made me refrain from commenting about it. "Obviously there are several more outfielders in the system, four to five per team, but for people to say that the Twins have huge outfield depth is, unfortunately, no longer the case."
  5. The biggest thing TwinsDaily followers don't put much thought into is how many of the outfielders will pan out. Does everyone really expect Hicks, Morales, Kepler, etc. to all reach the MLB and have good careers? Byron Buxton is only a HS kid and 18 years old. It will take at least 3 years to develop him and probably longer than that. The Twins of 2016/2017 may not have this kind of outfield depth. This is the reason you go BPA because the minor league is so unpredictable. For example, if Buxton has a 15% chance of "success" and every other player has a 14% or less, you take that extra percent. Most may say he IS more risky than the other choices and this is a losing point, but I think upside/natural talent makes prospects more likely to reach the majors.
  6. You could say every player from 2001 to 2009. Dustin Ackley may not live up to his top 5 prospect hype, but he's still been a solid contributor to the M's thus far with a great career ahead of him.
  7. It's a hot streak sure, but Arcia should realistically be on the verge of a promotion. .328/.381/.536 and his glove and arm have been excellent. He's spent quite a deal in Ft. Myers already, so why not?
  8. Well said. There is just no explanation or reason for the Twins to pass on Byron Buxton if he's available. He's the best player in the draft and has crazy upside. If the Astros are too stupid to realize it, the Twins should give them the finger, take Buxton, and laugh all the way to the bank.
  9. I don't understand sarcasm on the internet. I can't sense tone and emotion behind a computer screen. My bad.
  10. I think #12 is Corey Koskie. Pretty sure #10 is Joe Mauer and the other one you identified as Joe Mauer is wrong.
  11. It's ridiculous that you think wins are an important pitcher stat. Especially for relievers who have to get lucky to get them. Burton can strike people out, has a better track record, better ERA, and keeps runners off the base paths (.915 WHIP). Personally, I'd like to give Bowden a shot at starting, Devries moved to the long relief role, and Swarzak traded. Hard to do that all at once, but it's a pretty good scenario.
  12. Amen. I don't understand why there is a Jeff Gray fan club of sorts. He's a mediocre journeyman reliever with an awful 1.34 WHIP (1.468 Career) and poor K/9 career rate of 5.3. He's 30 and not getting any better. Let someone else who is getting better and has earned a shot pitch. I'd remove Manship and Gray from the 25 man roster in favor of Bowden and Slama.
  13. Anthony Super Slama needs another big league opportunity. I don't know why the Twins keep refuting him.
  14. SP Gibson Diamond Hendriks Bromberg Free Agent/Walters RP Burnett Slama Guerra Oliveros Robertson Duensing Perkins(CL) Line Up CF - Revere C - Mauer RF - Sano 1B - Morneau LF - Willingham DH - Free Agent 2B - Free Agent/Rosario SS - Dozier 3B - Romero/Florimon/Valencia (Yuck) Bench OF/INF - Plouffe OF - Arcia/Benson C - Chris Hermann INF - Chris Parmelee
  15. All of those Twins need to be sent packing except for Morneau. Liriano is almost a toss up because his stock is way too low, but it would be nice to lose his contract.
  16. I like Beresford too, but he has zero power and has an awful Slugging % to show for it. I can't see him ever breaking .700 in OPS and his baserunning is mediocre as well. There are too many flaws for him to ever become a regular on an MLB team.
  17. Wilkin Ramirez is slumping in his 15 games for the Red Wings. He continues to flail at pitches and cannot work the count at all. Ramirez hasn't been able to muster any power and his last big fly dates way back to his time in New Britain. Instead of knocking on the door to the majors like he once was, Wilkin has completely backtracked after his performance over the past two weeks.
  18. Hermsen is such a great success story this year. Strikeouts or not, he's still a possibility for the future. Not sure what he tops out at, but with a big 6'5" frame I'd be surprised if he didn't gain a little more zip in the next few months.
  19. He's in the NL and has a pitcher's park. Provided he can dig himself out of the minors, Marquis couldn't have been put into a better situation to succeed. If he can't make it with the Padres, I wish him well in retirement.
  20. I suppose it is, but that's not how the saying goes.
  21. He's just 24 and he's hanging it up. My guess is that it's a result of the new concussion paranoia going on in the NFL. He certainly wasn't a bad player and could have turned into a useful nickel or dime back. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/05/30/asher-allen-retires-at-age-24/
  22. Oakland: 28th in Runs, 30th in Batting Average, 29th in OBP, and 30th in SLUG Pittsburgh: 30th in Runs, 29th in Batting Average, 30th in OBP, and 28th in SLUG OR a better way might be Oak: 28th in Runs, 29th in OPS (.674) Pitt: 30th in Runs, 30th in OPS (.618) It's really just apples and oranges, but I agree that I'm wrong.
  23. Thanks for posting. I'll be sure to listen if I can keep myself awake! I've found myself following the Twins minor league affiliates more closely than the Twins themselves lately.
  24. My biggest concern if he's traded is that his new team's coaches can "fix" him and we get screwed out of a top 20 pitcher.
