  1. Buxton was Caught Stealing for the 5th time yesterday and I believe his on base streak has reached 29 games.
  2. The best of all these pitchers were unavailable or international signings. Cain would have been nice to have, but Span turned into one of the best players we've had this decade. Can't really fault the Twins for any of these. The best were already drafted and for a lot of the other guys, all teams passed on them.
  3. Patrick Reusse on Twitter Miracle 3B Miguel Sano (HBP in left elbow) and 2B Eddie Rosario (sore leg) out with injuries. Sano says he'll miss at least 2 days. Yeah false alarm, but maybe Hicks has a chance? I doubt it though.
  4. I see. I was a little surprised that all three were gone. I was expecting them to wait till all star break like most, but I thought this might be a sign.
  5. Miguel Sano, Eddie Rosario, and Dalton Hicks are all absent from the Miracle's lineup tonight. They may be reuniting with AJ Pettersen in New Britain. Also of note: Kennys Vargas is playing
  6. The Delmon Young picture needed explaining, but it's ridiculously funny after I read the paragraph. I can always expect a few laughs from your articles!
  7. His double that night was hitting left handed. Filling in for him was a right handed batter vs. a right handed pitcher. It was interesting to find out that Wilkin Ramirez has a reverse split though, but he doesn't have much of a career history to legitimize it. What also could have been costly defensively was that Parmelee had to make a diving catch on a ball that looked much closer to center field. Fortunately, he caught the ball, yet I still think that's a running catch for Hicks.
  8. I'd like to pile on Gardy for the loss tonight. He again substituted Ramirez for Hicks, which resulted in a slower outfield. This potentially cost us the game because Hicks may have been able to get to the game winning hit. Plus, I saw no real advantage to having Ramirez hit because Hicks had looked pretty good at the plate in the game. I liked pinch running EE at the time and that did work out, but it was pretty embarrassing to watch Justin Morneau flail at balls outside the zone while Escobar continually was able to time Mortenson. If anyone should have been pinch hit for, it should have been Morneau. By the way, this is the 3rd game that I saw a huge lapse from him that may have cost us the game. He can't handle players in the media, he's lost it in-game, and I don't see any reason to keep him moving forward. He's a hindrance.
  9. The results have been elite. Prior to this Red Sox game.
  10. I was never talking about the Twins future. Not sure where "sustainable" even comes into the conversation when talking about the win loss record they have put up. Up till this point, the Twins have had an elite bullpen. Perhaps I should have said "had" rather than "have". So, could be on me.
  11. Playing time in general. Jamey Carroll was a 3.5 WAR player last year. If you want to argue that Florimon and Dozier can eclipse that, be my guest. It's not like Jamey will produce that this year, but that dropoff of solid production will hurt the Twins this year.
  12. The only thing that I find surprising is the W-L. The Twins have an elite bullpen, mediocre offense, and poor rotation. Yet, they are still sitting around .500. It was predictable that the rotation would improve a little because of the new faces and health. It was also predictable that the offense would get much worse with Denard Span's departure and Jamey Carroll's lessened role. We also lost an overperforming Revere. The Twins would be scoring more runs if the trio of Ryan Doumit, Justin Morneau, and Chris Parmelee contributes.
  13. And you'd be correct. Sano, Rosario, Arcia, and Kepler were all international signees, Gibson was a late first rounder, Berrios and Harrison were supplemental picks, and Meyer and May were acquired via trade. Hicks was really only a mid round pick as well. The only guy, as you said, that was acquired through high draft pick (a.k.a sucking) was Buxton. Drafting ahead of other teams is important throughout the rest of the draft, but I'd say it's only in the first where it's significant. Had they been good the past few years, they could continue to do what they've been doing just like the Rangers and Rays.
  14. I think they sleep all night. I'm sure Gardy does it all the time during games behind his sunglasses too.
  15. How frustrating can you imagine it to be for a perceived AAA filler (Clete Thomas) to be crushing the ball in the minors and have hardly any chance at a reward/promotion?
  16. Pitch framing is just part of the defensive game as I see it. Doumit is an awful defender and framer. If he's not producing with the bat (he's not), he's hurting the team. It makes him a bad option at catcher because of the defense. The limited offense he's given so far hurts even more when he's the DH. It's been only a month, but I'm frustrated with how's he's done and the extension is starting to look bad. Let's see if he can dig himself out of the hole he's dug himself.
  17. I'm sure you could find someone that went 0-2.
  18. 23-4 is just unheard of in baseball. So impressed with the Miracle! They'll be weaker without AJ, though, but it's good news.
  19. Congrats to you for getting your prospect promoted and to AJ Pettersen!
  20. There was no reason to think Willingham would have gotten a hit off of Perez. Willingham is hitting .214 off of RHP. Ramirez, I understood, but not Willingham. That would have allowed Hicks to remain in defensively and have Ramirez sub for Parmelee.
  21. He got careless with substitutions too. That could have cost us big if the game got longer. I didn't think Willingham stood much of a chance vs. Perez in a RHP vs. RH matchup and his career numbers were 1-7 against him at the time.
  22. Gardy blew another one. Fien isn't good past one inning and we didn't need to save the bullpen.
  23. Once the ball hit the wall, I knew he was going to probably leg it out into three. We need him to find the gaps more!
  24. The Twins should start him and find out.
