Mike Berardino @MikeBerardino 3m So, uh, this is kind of a problem: Correia is at 54 pitches in top 3, trailing 5-1, and #MNTwins have declared both long men off limits. Where's Drew Butera when you need him?
Ken Rosenthal @Ken_Rosenthal 38m Sources: #Twins’ field people pushing to keep Suzuki. Quick extension unlikely, but other catchers in organization much less advanced.
The FIRST thing to change is the on-field management. It should have happened at least 2 seasons ago. (I think Gardenhire may very well have success again elsewhere if he chooses to go that route but he should not be manager of the Twins next season. At some point you have to provide a jolt. It's been a long run and the first 9 years were pretty good. The last 3 1/2 the exact opposite. It is time for a change.)
The whole thing is just sad ... the allegations of domestic violence, the allegations of substance abuse, the allegations of HGH use ... it is just a dark, dark picture. And I'm assuming that his father was diagnosed at a relatively young age so the possibility of a genetic tendency to Alzheimer's would add to the dark picture. It is also a reminder that ballplayers are human beings like the rest of us .... and face the same challenges (although perhaps heightened by the public spotlight).
It isn't victim blaming. It's being smart and not letting yourself get caught in a trap. That doesn't mean that no one ever gets forgiveness. It does mean that it is rare that someone abuses only one victim and women need to proceed with extreme caution with someone who has any history of abuse. (We've had personal experience with this in my extended family with very bad results so I feel very strongly that the woman needs to protect herself -- and one of the best ways is not to get involved with someone with an abusive personality in the first place.)
Great night for him and really good night for Vargas: 3/3 with a walk; home run; 4 rbis; 7 total bases. And not a bad one for Hicks: 1 for 2 with a walk and 2 rbis.
I'd actually bet that isn't true. People lose kids and spouses and they still have health problems and have to deal with aging parents. Your classmates may have been cushioned against some of the hard knocks but reality bites.
Other people tell me that the reunions generally get better the further you are removed from high school .... after life knocks people around a little. And you can brag on your gorgeous and talented daughters. But I have to tell you, they print reunion photos in our local paper. The women ALWAYS look much better than the men.
Can't advise. After I had my 20th, they tried to have a 30th and no one wanted to serve on the committee. So they didn't even try to organize a committee for my 40th. (And this was with a graduating class of 96 -- maybe we were just always ornery.) Sounds like RB had a pretty good time at his recent one, though.
