    Levi, I don't know if this will help or not but if you go through and mark all your forums as read and then start new, you'll note that they all show up on the forums page as gray. But if someone makes a new post in a thread on a forum, the forum becomes white on the index page. (this is on the desktop version -- assume it is the same on mobile). (Ignore this on the Articles Forum because it keeps turning white as additional old articles keep posting). There may be more than one thread that has new posts in it in the forum but then that was always the case. At least it tells you if there is something new.

    Brock fixed it so you can change it! And I'm betting he put in that new title for you.

    Unless you are one of the people for whom this doesn't work. Apparently SB sees different pages when he clicks in to "My Settings" than I do. If you had trouble getting into certain pages yesterday, you may have trouble with this, too. If so, contact Brock when he isn't quite so busy.

    But nobody else knows you have a warning point. That's apparently only visible to the poster. (Well, since the mods are all-seeing, maybe they can see it).

    RE: Mauer I didn't want to post a new thread on this because I really don't want to get into yet another lengthy Mauer discussion but did anyone else read Reusse in the Strib about the need for management to call out Mauer? It was kind of an odd piece but then the whole situation with Mauer is odd. There's nothing to be done but wait for that oblique to finish healing. On the other hand, sometimes I feel like he needs a size 16 planted firmly on his b*tt.

    Nope. All I can do is edit and report. And when I go into edit (and advanced editing), there isn't a delete either. Guess I can go look at my settings and see if there is something I need to change.

    Can't use those either cuz I always break the lead. I don't know the meaning of writing lightly.

    ChiTown, Do you really have a delete button on your posts? Because all I have are edit and report -- and report is totally wasted on me because I never report anybody.

    LOL. Depends on the version. I've done NY Times Daily crosswords in ink but I always use a pencil for the Sunday ones and once I get to the hard or diabolical levels of Sudoku, pencils are my friend!

    I'd do that except that I don't have a "delete" button under the post -- even if no one has posted after me. And I went through all the advanced editing and can't find a way to delete there either.

    Curt, At the top of forum pages is a small clickable statement "Mark this Forum as Read". On the left of each post in a forum (on the forum index page for each individual forum) is either a star or a circle. They will both take you to your last unread post in the forum. The star means you have posted in that forum. The circle means you haven't. (But when everything transferred yesterday, it made it look like you (or me in this case) hadn't read anything. That's why I just went ahead and marked all my forums as read so I could essentially start fresh with new posts after I had done that.)

    5. Pencils -- I was working a semi-pro football game yesterday. On the back wall of the production booth... There were 4 pencil sharpeners bolted to the wall. I got to thinking... I haven't used a pencil in probably a decade. Maybe longer... Because I can't remember the last time I used an ole #2 pencil. And why is it called a #2 when it is clearly more popular than a #1 pencil. I LOVE pencils. Nothing like a freshly sharpened pencil and a clean crossword puzzle or a clean Sudoku.

    Seth, For some reason I couldn't open your link so here is another to the same story/video (I hope): http://www.news-press.com/story/sports/mlb/2014/07/27/minnesota-twins-player-development-academy-benefits/13223975/ The Twins have shown fantastic leadership in adding the academy -- although I hope it gives the Twins an edge, it is something I'd like to see other clubs add for their minor leaguers. And congrats to Bill Smith for what appears to be a job very well done. Overseeing the renovation of Hammond and the Academy upgrades (and Perry's Hill, too) seems like it has been a great use of his talents.

    I'd like an interim manager. Gardenhire really does just look exhausted -- how could anyone have any enthusiasm anymore? Then a GM from outside the organization who has complete authority to hire his own team -- both in baseball ops and as field staff.

    Well, the Twins were horrific again but at least a few good things are happening in the minors. Hopefully Hicks moves up to AAA soon and Buxton to AA. And it looks to me like maybe they should be moving Burdi up to FM.

    Maybe it doesn't give a blank for senior members who are really newbies. Or it only lets one Iowan change their status each day.
