  1. If I were the Twins I would try to work out a trade for Josh Johnson and try to sign him to an extension prior to the season.
  2. Agree with Kab, there is no reason why Jorge shouldn't crack the top 20.
  3. Grienke is nice, but I wouldn't give him the 100 mil he will command.
  4. Wow, that was one of the best endings I have ever seen! Keselowski wrecking Busch on the last lap, then Amrbose and him battling back and forth. A lot of people hate the Road Races in NASCAR but I am personally a fan, switches things up quite a bit.
  5. I'd bring Pavano back on a minor league deal as it can't really hurt anything. I'd definitely bring Baker back on an incentive based deal, hell give him the $3 mil base you'd give to the next Marquis and let him earn up to 8 mil.
  6. :banghead:
  7. I'm not sure Arcia is top 50, and I could almost gurantee Rosario won't be in the top 50. I could see Arcia in the 60-80 range and could see Rasario sneak into a few lists as well. Gibson should def be a top 100 guy. But I could see him left off most lists. Not that any of the "lists" matter much.
  8. I have just accepted at this point that Butera is going nowhere anytime soon.
  9. Players that should be dropped from the 40 man after this season: Gray Manship Guerra Nishi Pavano Capps Tosoni Players that probably should be dropped: Perdomo Alexi Blackburn Wait and See: DeDuno Fien
  10. -I think its pretty apparent that Sano and Buxton are a clear cut 1 and 2 in the system. -Hicks now has upped his OPS in AA to .849 has a career high 27 SB and career high of 12 HR, add that to an elite arm and elite defense overall and we could be looking at him to hit his ceiling down the road. At this point I would put him above Arcia, and would have to imagine Hicks will crack the majority of top 50 lists heading into 2013.
  11. You realize Pavano and Capps are impending free agents...correct? And that the only way the Twins can get rid of Blackburn is if they paid at least 90% of his salary.
  12. Why the hell would they take Blackburn, Pavano or Capps?
  13. Shuffling the chairs on the deck of the titanic at this point.
  14. Plouffe starts a mini rehab assignment tomorrow in AAA.
  15. Also to combat the earlier comments: Morneau and Mauer were both fast tracked to the majors. I can't really think of one player in the minors that should definitely be on the majors at this point: Arcia/Hicks- Already have 3 very good OF. Parmelee- Already have 3 Very good OF, a good 1B and a good DH. Hendriks- possibly, but has struggled in two trips to the mahors this year, team wants him to work on some stuff in the minors. Sano- Way to raw. I also can't really think of any player they let rot in the minors either in the recent history. Guys like Plouffe and Span were simply late bloomers.
  16. You can't possibly believe that garbage you just spewed.
  17. I'd rather offer Jurrjens the token 1 year 2 mil contract instead of the next Ortiz/Marquis. Other than that I am not very interested.
  18. When people are saying he should go back to Japan they aren't saying it in a "your not good enough for this country", rather a "if he goes back to Japan he can no longer be a burden on this ballclub" I guess it could be said more PC, but honestly I don't think most people were really offended by that.
  19. I still think the automatic assumption of "he was going to lose .150 no matter what" is a bit aggresive. I'd argue that a .100 point drop could/should be expected from a slap hitter like Nishioka. If he ended up being a .700 hitter with good MI defense he still would have been an asset, this is what the team was thinking when they signed him as sort of a worst case scenario. Obviously they felt he could do much better, but the worst case scenario ended up being a nightmare that nobody could have predicted. Seriously, even in the old BYTO threads people were against the signing because it was giving Hardy the boot , not because they predicted he would be one of the worst players in the history of the franchise.
  20. OPS is a perfectly fine stat. Also Plouffe has played better then Mauer this year. That isn't a knock on Mauer as much as it is the fact that Trevor Plouffe has been playing out of his mind. OPS like most every other stat doesn't obviously tell the full story, as you have to take things such as speed, and defensive value into effect as well. However OPS is miles ahead of "traditional" stats like batting average, RBI's and Runs.
  21. Do you have anything whatsoever to back that up? I agree that Japan is somewhere between AA/AAA, but .800 to .650 is a pretty drastic split, so drastic I think that you are just making that up.
  22. Is he also part of the scouts that signed guys like Sano, Rosario, Arcia?(I honestly have zero idea so I apologize if I am off base) If so, then perhaps he deserves a semi-pass on this. At the end of the day if Sano reaches his potential and Nishioka is a waste of 15 mil I think I can live with that. The most frustrating thing of the whole deal was how much we gave Nishi guaranteed, I wonder if they could have gotten him for 2 years instead of 3, but then part of me wonders if it was the Twins who wanted 3+ an option just in case Nishi turned out to be good.
  23. His 2010 was a fluke, but its not like he was hitting .150 in the seasons before that. He still hit .300 in 2 of the 3 years prior and had about an .800 OPS before his 2010 season as well, plus showed decent pop with 27 HR in 2 seasons. Again, nothing that special, but nothing that should indicate that he couldn't produce even a .700 OPS in the majors, and this doesn't even begin to explain how god awful he is on defense. If I had to blame anyone for this debacle it would be the following: Nishioka: 50% Scouts: 30% Smith/Rest of FO: 20%
  24. Feel free to get off your soapbox on this non existent issue anytime now. Nobody has said anything offensive regarding Nishioka. People saying "he should be sent back to Japan" isn't racist/inappropriate in the least, and "time to say sayonara to nishi" isn't bad either.
