  1. There are open stand up MRI'S Google it. There are options here, and typically hospitals have both. My brother in law is an MRI tech and has operated both types of units. Typically the open MRI is for those who cannot fit into a standard MRI (which I'll admit is a bit of an experience even for someone who is mildy claustrophobic). I'm trying to figure out why they just didn't let him use the open... that said, standup/open MRI's exist, but they aren't exactly common. My brother in law got to operate one in Fort Wayne, IN... There's only 1 in the entire city, and it was brand new. Yup, Standup MRI's are very rare. "Open" MRI's are more common, but still somewhat rare. And even those are pretty intense for people with even mild claustrophobic issues. It has nothing to do with "toughing" it out or anything of that nature, some people just can't deal with that ****.
  2. Exactly, but Flacco isn't some "elite" QB, he is a good QB. Somewhere around the 10-12 range. The notion that you need a Tom Brady, Aaron Rogers, Manning type to compete in this league is incorrect. There is no reason if things don't break right that Ponder can't eventually get into that range as well. Of course it would help if he wasn't surrounded by the worst WR and TE corp in football...
  3. The problem isn't being negative, the problem is continuing to beat the same dead horse over and over again without bringing any substance or value to threads. He wouldn't be banned because he was sour on the Twins, he would be banned because he was acting like a God Damned child. There are plenty of posters here who are very negative on the Twins these days, but still bring value and thoughts to a thread.
  4. have you compared that to the other mlb teams? Yes I have, Start with the rest of the Division. The Royals have had 6 guys get TJS this season. Your move.
  5. If your mouse touches on some full screen video and sound pop up. Very annoying. Tell big lead sports or whoever to turn them off unless they are giving you a premium CPM for that garbage.
  6. I'd replace Duensing with Vasquez, but yeah that is a good plan. People need to just stop with the "derp, players need to pitch like Bert and Nolan, derp" talk. It would be one thing if the Twins were the only team keeping an eye on pitchers innings, but last time I checked the best team in the NL is getting ready to shut down their ace due to an innings cap. Every team does it. The ones that don't end up witha DL featuring Kerry Wood and Mark Prior
  7. I would argue that Rapesligberger is not "elite" yet continues to make and win super bowls. You can build a super bowl caliber team around defense these days, it's just hard to do. Also the Ravens and 49ers were each one fluke play away from the super bowl last year as well, both have pretty ho-hum QB's. I think Ponder could become as good as an Alex Smith or Joe Flacco some day if things break right.
  8. Gibson should be higher then 9.
  9. “He’s an emergency second baseman. He’s not as skilled; he would have a lot to work on at second base. I take all the throws with him, so you can tell your (readers) the manager’s out there taking all the throws when he’s fielding groundballs and it’s a work in progress. He’s an emergency infielder. He was an infielder and was moved to the outfield, and that’s because a lot of the balls ended up in the outfield anyway. That’s what happens.” Basically what I have been trying to say for weeks now... the notion that the Blue Jays moved a capable 2nd baseman to the OF is/was laughable.
  10. It should be noted yet again, that even the 2nd opinion doctor didn't know Baker needed Tommy John surgery until they actually cut the arm open.
  11. There are open stand up MRI'S Google it. They are pretty rare, and I'm sure Span didn't think it would be an issue going into the MRI. Since they are so rare (the stand up) it wouldn't be shocking if they weren't able to get him to one the same day. Except that the phobia issue likely came up during his first MRI on Monday. Why does it matter though? If he is to sore/injured to play, then he is to sore/injured to play.
  12. There are open stand up MRI'S Google it. They are pretty rare, and I'm sure Span didn't think it would be an issue going into the MRI. Since they are so rare (the stand up) it wouldn't be shocking if they weren't able to get him to one the same day.
  13. I would hope we're not doing that, but at the same time if we're paying a guy several million dollars a year to play, we have the right to ask the player to assist in whatever it takes to get them back healthy and on the field. Certainly we can try and work with him and fine a way to get the medical information we need that accomodates his phobia, and it sounds like Span is trying to be cooperative, but I can understand the fan's frustrations when a story like this gets out. The next step would be for the doctors to put him under, but if that is the case typically they need a days lead time or so.
  14. Sweet Jesus are you kidding me? As someone who just had an MRI on their head, let me tell you, those things ****ing suck. I had to do an open MRI to keep from freaking out, and even then I needed my GF in the roof to give me support, plus had to keep eyes closed the whole time. I'm not claustrophobic otherwise. It's actually quite common that people can't do face first MRI's, I'm surprised they couldn't get him to an open one though.
  15. So the solution this time was actually rest and rehab...interesting.
  16. I think Duensing needs to be in the pen for all of next season. For better or worse Perkins will be our main closer heading into next season, Duensing needs to be our LOOGY who can come in in the 7th/8th to help supplement Burton. Though to be honest, I would like them to look into doing a closer platoon with Burton and Perkins.
  17. I think Manships numbers this year in AAA are deceving, his 6.4/4.0 K/BB ratio indicates to me that his ERA should be much higher then 3.03, plus he has appeared in 49 major league games and hasn't looked good in that time, and is 27. Just not a whole lot of projection left, I guess he could be a stop gap #5 guy, but the Twins have plenty of those at this point.
  18. I like the plan, but I think Manship is as good as gone next year, he just doesn't strike me as someone who will be an asset to a major league bullpen or rotation. If Hendriks steps up, man that would be huge! At least we could go into next season with the thought that Diamond, Hendriks and Gibson could give us 3/5ths of a decent rotation. Color me intrigued when it comes to Vasquez, his walk rate has been tolerable this year.
  19. My guess is somewhere in the 7-10 range right by Hendriks (if he was still a prospect
  20. DeDuno has a FIP of 5.40 and an xfIP of 5.07 If you are going to walk a ton of guys, you frankly need to strike out a ton as well. Sanchez is the perfect example, he has always walked a ton of guys, but when he was striking out 9.5-10 guys per 9 innings he was able to get away with it. This year his k rate dropped below 7 and he has gotten shelled.
  21. Though I think this signifies the end of Blackburn for the Twins, I hope he is able to rebound in the future, perhaps if he gets it back together he can be a #5 type guy in the NL. He obviously lacked the high end talent we would prefer, but when he was effective the guy always went out and gave us quite a few good performances while keeping his mouth shut unlike some of the other #5 pitchers we have had in the past. Plus, his game 163 will be remembered as a hell of a performance, and he seemed to be the one pitcher who wouldn't **** all over himself when they played in Yankee stadium. I still think he can figure out a way to get back to a 4.50 ERA type guy, that place probably isn't on the Twins though.
  22. There is zero reason for him to be holding back at this point, he is an impending free agent who most likely will have to settle for a minimum or minor league deal at this point. If he was able to pitch, he'd be back by now trying to drive up his own value. It was apparent early on that there was something wrong with his shoulder, always sucks to see a guys career end because of something like that, would like to see him get at least one more start as a Twin this year for the fans to give him a proper send off. Guy was a solid pitcher for us.
  23. MVP: Nishioka CY Young: Nick Blackburn. Matt Capps 2nd. Rookie of the year: Jeff Gray Manager of the year:Bobby V
  24. The problem is his k rate is only 5.9 per nine innings.
  25. It seems like only a matter of time before DeDuno completely blows up, it seems like every other inning he has the bases loaded with 0 or 1 outs and is able to get out of it with little to no damage, that can't possibly continue. He needs to have some extreme control improvement if he ever wants to stay in the league.
