  1. Yeah I really don't get this. The Twins were shopping Willingham, its just a fact that teams don't give up top tier pitching prospects like Meyer/May etc for guys like Willingham when you can go out on the FA market and get similar production for close to the same cost. Yes, Willinghams contract was nice, but lets not pretend it was Glenn Perkins (prime of his career, 3-4 mil a year) nice.
  2. Yeah, I don't get where this trade Doumit stuff comes from. Doumit at this point isn't really an everyday player: He doesn't field anywhere well enough to play every day, and honestly prob doesn't hit enough to be an everyday DH for most teams. With that said he does have plenty of value, especially for a team like the Twins with Mauer. There is no reason to trade Doumit, even if Willingham is the "regular" DH next year, if Morneau is gone there is a good chance that 1B will have plenty of days available for Doumit or Mauer to play.
  3. Nick is spot on, players play through nagging injuries all the time which is why you see so many guys tough it out and get surgery in the off-season if needed. It's basic freaking human nature to NOT want to go under the knife if necessary, yeah Josh was struggling a bit but he was still hitting some bombs out of the park etc, it really became an issue a week or so ago when he re-tweaked it etc. Also keep in mind that the Twins depth at OF (especially guys that can hit enough to justify a lineup spot) wasn't (and still isn't) exactly bursting at the seams.
  4. Saw that a few people were going to the futures game, I plan on going to the Friday night game for sure (Sat as long as the Twins don't embarrass themselves too much Friday and the woman agrees to go again) Would be good to meet up at Stans an hour or so before Friday's game to grab a few beers and chat Twins. Last time we had Nick Nelson and Username (mike) in town and it was a pretty good time, I recall we went to Frankie Rodriguez's random ass "bar" afterwards.
  5. One night stand with Jeter >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Watching the Twins play the Yankees
  6. I think the parting was amicable and professional as it could have been.
  7. It was reported twice on MLB trade rumors. Until someone points to something that says else wise I will have to go with that..... Also aging no defensive bats aren't exactly hard to find on the markets both FA and trade.
  8. There were multiple reports of the offers not being very substantial and a © prospect or #4/#5 type pitcher
  9. I think it would make sense, the twins likely would have a spot available for him and I imagine he still likes the org/fans and vice versa. Plus pitcher friendly park etc etc
  10. I think he re injured it, it's hard to place blame on this one, the twins and he had every reason to try to "play through it" in order to get some trade value for him. Maybe this is for the bet, ideally he comes back strong and the twins can either keep him as an asset for next year or trade him I. The off season
  11. What are the odds Minnesota brings in Johan next year on a "show me" type 1 year 2-3 mil base (4-5 mil incentives) type deal?
  12. Itstimetotakeits parenting skills > watching the Twins play the Yankees
  13. Play Hicks every day. Clete Thomas is having a nice year, but he is a 4th OF.
  14. I mean don't get me wrong, in a "good" rotation Pelfrey prob doesn't have much business being in one. But the Twins have the worst rotation in baseball (by far the least Quality Starts in the MLB) if he can go 6 IP and 3ER that will go along ways with this motley crew
  15. Based on the write up I am excited! Sounds like a boom or bust guy since power is his one true elite "tool" but I like the idea of this team bringing in more guys like that.
  16. I get the "lets sign everyone now!" thing, but if there is one area the Twins should be given a pass by us fans its the international signings "game"....Sano, Arcia and Kepler (plus a ton more) show why. I trust they will be able to find some more gems.
  17. Because he is still significantly better then PJ Walters and his 6.31 career ERA. Pelfrey has been dissapointing no doubt this year, but he is coming back from Tommy John and in his last 4 starts he was at least somewhat serviceable. 3 of 4 he gave up 3 ER (other one was 4 ER) and in 3 of 4 he went 6+ IP. Again, nothing earth shattering but he was at least showing some improvement.
  18. Yeah, the Twins have said as much.
  19. PJ Walters vs CC Sabbathia LOL
  20. No issues with them running Burton out there, up until the past couple weeks Burton has been one of the better 8th inning guys in baseball and he is signed somewhat long term, it is evident now he has got to work something out on his end now. **** happens, its frustrating because Burton was one of the few guys we thought we could count on this year.
  21. The Yankees might be the perfect trade partner heading into next year.
  22. The Tigers have 722 SO in 701 Innings. That is absurd. How are they not 15+ games up on us?
  23. Pelfrey came back really quickly and to be frank he was never anything super to begin with. Diamond is puzzling, I still think he can turn it around. Worley is the biggest question mark.
  24. They really need to do a "futures" league home run derby as well.
  25. I would trade Perkins straight up for either one of those guys. With Hansen you probably need another guy who is close to major league ready (like a back end rotation guy or something) but Hansen is something really special IMO, that could be our answer to SS right there.
