  1. If Crawford can be moved, then Nolasco can as well. As Kab said, you often times will need to take back a bad contract as well. Are there any "bad" contracts out there we could take on to improve an area of weakness? Old pal JJ Hardy looks to be out of favor in Balt and is owed 26 mil over 2016-2017, the problem there though is that his 14 mil 2018 option becomes guaranteed if he is traded. Heck even if you don't take a bad contract back Nolasco is still only owed about 33 million through the end of 2017 (includes his pro rated contract this season and 1 million dollar buyout), I still wonder if the Twins ate 20 million of it if a team like the Dodgers or someone would be willing to bite.
  2. I would agree with this as well, though it pains me a bit in the heart everytime I see Escobar or Nunez slotted in LF/DH with Rosario on the bench.
  3. You got your wish!
  4. Trading Pelfrey is the dumbest thing this team could do at this juncture, first off: nobody is going to send back a blue chip prospect for him, so you instantly make the 2015 Twins worse. Second off: Pelfrey is pitching fantastically currently, even if he does falter a bit I think there is a really good chance he could become a shut down 8th inning guy for us. Lastly, Pelfrey is close to home and seems to enjoy pitching here, if the Twins can figure out a way to move Nolascos contract at some point I wouldn't be opposed to bringing Pelfrey back for 2016.
  5. :shoot: :shoot: :shoot: :shoot:
  6. Brock is a little busy at the moment. http://i.kinja-img.com/gawker-media/image/upload/s--n6U3P_Hc--/c_fill,fl_progressive,g_north,h_358,q_80,w_636/17kdjxvdqvygyjpg.jpg
  7. That money could be spent much more effectively in other ways after this season such as: A.) Signing a DH if Vagas doesn't work out B.) Signing a SS if Santana doesn't work out C.) Signing a shutdown 8th inning guy D.) Signing a big bat corner OF E.) Signing a pitcher not named Ricky Nolasco If they could find a team willing to take 50% of the contract, you do the deal ASAP, if someone offers you a decent prospect in return while picking up 25-35% of the contract I think you do that deal ASAP as well. The Twins likely would get equal or better production out of Milone, May, Pelfrey, Dean this year anyways, and in 2016/2017 they would get better production with Berrios and more.
  8. A couple of us are still around. I wish Frodaddy, A-Wan and Ofx would have made the jump.
  9. I will start: The twins are winning a lot of games, this makes me happy. Tim Stauffer has not been good this year, but his intgerity is second to none (read the story of him being 100% forth right when he was drafted) Juan Castro may be the worst hitter per baseball reference, but he still has more at bats then me.
  10. I'm guessing those 19 were negative and you didn't want to be associated with all of the negative posters around here? It brings up a good point, the problem with sausages is that sometimes bad ingredients and process end up making some foul tasting links. For instance I am NOT a fan of the Stauffer Sausage in the least, I am not a fan of the Escobar LF/DH sausage, but the Escobar SS sausage is quite tolberable.
  11. (note: I didn't see the NASCAR Sub Topic on the forums page, mods feel free to place this in the NASCAR Sub Forum once you build it) Thoughts on the NASCAR season thus far? Annoying as all hell to see Jimmie Johnson win yet another race but so far this season has been pretty solid overall, a few of the races have been a tad boring but that is to be expected, the usual heavyweights (#48, #4, #2, #11) have been winning races this year, but it has been exciting to watch some of the underdog drivers/teams like Martin Truex put up strong race after strong race. The future also looks exciting with some talented youngsters 18 and 19 years old making big names for themselves in the Xfinity series, in a few years Erik Jones will be a championship contender in the Sprint Cup Series and Bubba Wallace and Daniel Suarez will be right behind him. (I think the latter two will be important for NASCAR reaching a broader overall audience hopefully) Thoughts? On a personal note, was given Hot Passes/All access to this weekends races in Dover, besides the 91 World Series this might have been the coolest sports experience I have been at, I tossed together a quick video below with some of the pics/video I was able to snag in the garage and pits. If baseball really wanted to appeal to the fans more/make it more fan friendly they could take a page out of NASCAR's book which is the most fan friendly sport around. (Oh and start letting people share MLB highlights on youtube)
  12. The flash ads and autoplay ads have gotten out of control, I'd say that 20% of my visits in TD is either slowed up significantly due to them, or sometimes makes my whole browser crash. Interestingly enough Wild Extra runs much better on my machine. Thoughts?
  13. That's the beauty about sports, sometimes the "best team" won't win and sometimes the best team won't win a title, sometimes it just takes the right amount of luck, timely "clutchness" and you can win it all ala the 1987 Twins, last time I checked that world series title counts just as much as the 1927 Yankees where they dominated everyone. Sometimes all you need to know is that the sausage tastes good and you don't need to concern yourself with how it's made, and right now the Twins sausage tastes good, the only sausage that could possibly top it would be some Mark DeRosa sausage as he could bring the whole thing together. I don't care at this point that their run score numbers and other sabre stuff isn't grade A quality, I am just enjoying the ride for now.
  14. Works every time
  15. I will respectfully disagree with that. Gordon isn't even a year removed from being the 5th pick in the draft and MLB had him as the #33 prospect prior to this season. Gordon would have much more value then Polanco because of his upside. And that's before we even get into pedigree.
  16. Rosario has a better swing then Arcia though to "make" something out of those bad pitches he swings at (Kirby Puckett did that fantastically during his day) Rosario will be fine, the pitch recognition and discipline will come with time and experience in the major leagues, he is still very young and somewhat "raw", but he has shown some flashes during this cup of coffee that not only suggest he can be a regular MLB but a potential star as well.
  17. That's pretty awesome he is number one in WAR over the last calendar year. While I am not sure he is the "best" 2B at this point, I think he is in the conversation for top 3, and certainly is top 5. This quote made me happy as well: Minnesota might not be as good as its current record suggests, but even if the Twins go two games under .500 in every month from June through August they’re going to be 70-65 after September 1 and still find themselves very much involved in what looks to be a crowded pennant race Baring a complete meltdown, we will have fun baseball to watch into September (and at least football season happens then if the Twins miss the playoffs) Haven't had that in several years now.
  18. Meyer- His trade value couldn't be any lower, no team is going to give up an asset for him at this point, nor should the Twins even be shopping him at this point. Polanco/Gordon/Santana- Not sure how you group these three together, Santana has no real trade value, Polanco has minimum and Gordon has quite a bit IMHO. Turner/Pinto- Minimal Value -for- Swihart- Boston aren't going to give up on a 21 catcher who is already in the majors and could hit for a .800 OPS in the future. Duensing- Now you are talking. Thoughts??? Also, we'll throw in Deunsing.
  19. Power Rankings don't mean anything.
  20. I have a gut feeling the demotion wasn't about performance and was something along the lines of maturing, attitude, or something else. We are all frustrated that Escobar and Nunez are the DH, but I'm pretty positive that TR realizes that isn't ideal at this point either. Hopefully Vargas gets whatever fixed he needed too: whether performance wise or not
  21. except for those hot weeks immediately before he was sent down of course...oh and 2014 as well.
  22. Didn't every Twins starter get 5 wins in may pretty much?
