  1. I think Gibson was exposed the other day, he is a solid pitcher no doubt and will have a long and solid career, but he simply lacks the stuff to be a front of the rotation type, good teams and good hitters are too much for him. (Which is who you face in the playoffs anyways) I'd still trade any of Rosario berrios or Gibson for tulo though
  2. At the end of the day, Escobar has no business playing SS every day in the majors. He just doesn't have the range. Santana more than has the range, but seems to just make a lot of dumb mistakes, but shows flashes of brilliance. Santana cost us the game last night most likely, but Escobar definitely cost them the game against Oakland It's pretty clear that the only SS help will come from outside the org this year.
  3. Since you are bringing up WAR from last year, its convenient you ignore Santana's 3.3 WAR from 2014. Both aren't good current options, but it's pretty obvious that Santana has a lot more upside then Escobar has/will have.
  4. May is in the bullpen, does that mean that the Twins consider him a bullpen arm moving forward? Why on earth would the Orioles move Gausman? yeah, he was in the pen for a bit, but they are counting on him for the rotation in the future as well as the rest of this year as they fight for a playoff spot.He had a 3.57 ERA and a 3.41 FIP last year as a starter pitching in the hitter friendly AL East.
  5. Escobar's WAR was smoke and mirrors, it's much more likely he is a 0.5 WAR player then a 2.5 WAR player.
  6. The thing is, I doubt the Twins do that, would anyone be surprised if Hunter would suddenly become a malcontent if he lost the starting role? At the very least they need to move him down in the lineup, his at bats have been terrible as of late, especially in big spots. With runners in scoring position and less than two outs you can't afford to have a guy hacking at bad pitches and popping up harmlessly to the SS
  7. Has he though? Arcia has a career 0.0 WAR, Gausman has 2.6. Gausman is a pitcher which always will have more value when comparing to a no field corner OF type. Baltimore won't make that trade and they would be foolish to even consider it, if you want a guy who strikes out a lot, can't play defense but can hit 20-25 HR then you can just snag a AAAA guy for free. (Like Parmelee) And even if Arcia had performed better at the ML level it wouldn't balance out their value, Gausman still has plenty of upside, and had a 2.1 WAR season last year in a half season.
  8. Arcia was one a top ten rated prospect like Gausman was?
  9. No fight. It looks like half of the team has just thrown in the towel at this point. Can't think of a more most win game then this afternoons game, they can't afford to go into a Yankee series losing 5 straight.
  10. Hunter in July: .167/.215/.267 Looking a little long in the tooth, it's time the Twins start considering bringing up Arcia and having him and Hunter platoon.
  11. Not physically soft, the team mentally looked completely checked out the past two games. The at bats, the pitching, the fielding, the throwing, the overall lack of effort. Playoff caliber teams shouldn't do that, every game counts. You can't dwell just because one game didn't go your way, that is what 90 loss teams do, not playoff teams.
  12. The Twins got Gomez (top 50 rated prospect), Guerra (#35 rated prospect), Humber (#26 rated prospect) and Mulvey (not a highly rated prospect, but still a solid one at that) in return for Santana. Berrios+Polanco don't come anywhere close to that in current value.
  13. 1 run in 18 innings after losing a tough game, 3 errors and about a half dozen other sloppy defensive plays. Giving up 21 runs in those two games. That is soft, I am sorry, it just is. Those last two games were some of the worst baseball I have watched, at no point did the Twins even look like they had a chance or were exerting any effort in either game. I don't mind blowouts, those happen, but the Twins clearly were going through the motions on Sunday and even more so last night. That is frustrating when you stay up until 1 am on a weekday to watch that crap.
  14. It's almost as if his previous franchise also didn't want to play him at SS, so at this point we have numerous professional baseball front office people who clearly think he can't handle playing SS along with the majority of fans, on the other side we have a small but vocal minority saying that Escobar is good defensively at SS. I wonder who is right?
  15. 75% of the SS in my beer league wood bat league would have gotten that one. Any average major league SS would have gotten it no problem and made a good throw to beat him out by 4 steps.
  16. The rotation would be led by Phil Hughes who is pitching like his 2014 season again lately, but good try to continue to mistrue the conversation around Gibson/Berrios and Tulo.
  17. How about who has more value the next 5 years, since that is how long each of them would essentially be under contract? Also Radke >>>>>>>>>> Gibson
  18. Preposterous statement of the year nomination. Tulo is a hall of fame SS, Gibson is a guy who is probably a #3 starter on a good team and a poor mans Brad Radke at best.
