  1. Hindsight is always 20/20 but there is a reason why he was the #1 prospect in baseball, as a 19-20 year old he absolutely mashed in the higher levels of the minors. I don't want to compare him to Buxton since Buxton has a higher floor, but just imagine what it would take in a trade to ship Buxton out.. I agree though, giving up Bartlett seemed dumb at the time.
  2. My guess is potentially. Though if the crime wasn't motivated by race etc (i.e. he was pissed that he couldn't get into a closed club) then I could see that not being charged as a hate crime. Either way, he should probably see like 30 days in jail regardless at this stage. As much as we joke/poke fun it's pretty clear the guy has a major drinking issue, hopefully he can clean up his act a bit.
  3. IMO I think Gleeman does a great job on the prospect lists, a lot of us to a fault (myself included) like to views prospects in the best case scenario/ceiling etc, Gleeman is able to provide an accurate analysis that also factors in a players warts as well. I think "disdain" is the wrong word, realistic is the more accurate word IMO. The hard truth is, the majority of the top 40 prospects in this system, or any system will never make any real "mark" on a major league team. (i.e never post more than 1.0 WAR in a season or 3.0 WAR in a career) so it's nice to read some realistic projections for some guys (i.e. Dean, who while he may make a major league roster someday, probably won't contribute at anything more than a replacement level type for more than a year or two) I think Seth does a great job as well overall, his lists/projections tend to be a bit more "rosy" then Gleemans, but I think that comes from him: 1. Knowing a lot of the players personally 2. Just the nature of his writing/optimist about the players in general. Neither method is "right or wrong", and when you combine a combination of both, I think you get a very good overall picture of the Twins top prospects and what we can/can't expect out of them. Other than them two, I really don't care how other "lists" are ranked other than KLaw and BA.
  4. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24555689/jimmy-haslam-says-homeless-man-convinced-him-to-draft-manziel Sometimes you pick the wrong hobo to take advice from. Happens all the time to me!
  5. To be fair Baseball America had him between #1 and #3 prospect in baseball for 4 straight years, as a 19 year old in AA and AAA he put up a .881 OPS and 26 HR's and as a 21 year old rookie, held his own. It's not like the Twins were the only team to "see" his potential. Unfortunately as we now know, other than 2010 he never lived up anywhere near his potential. I still don't really fault the Twins for making the trade. Delmon had his risks no doubt, but the upside and talent were always there, sometimes these things work out, sometimes they don't. I just wish they hadn't given up Garza, but I suppose that trade probably doesn't happen without him.
  6. I wonder if Paul is regretting stepping out so early, I feel he could have had a second life during the Rubio beat down. If Kasich is suddenly third in NH, no reason why Paul couldn't have made a run up the leader board.
  7. http://cdn.fangraphs.com/not/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/delmondonatello.jpg Time for Delmon to update the old Tinder profile: Interests: Pizza, April O'Neil, Pizza, "Slapping people silly with money", Pizza, Bats or Bowstafs as weapons, Pizza, Pizza flavored Pizza. Turn offs: Jews, Cubans, Latins, umpires, working out, Shredder.
  8. Meant to quote my prediction, but accidently deleted it, I said Denver 20-12, do I win a prize for being closest?
  9. "But if I go to hell then I hope I burn well, I'll spend my days with J.F.K., Marvin Gaye, Martha Raye, and Lawrence Welk, And Kurt Cobain, Kojak, Mark Twain and Jimi Hendrix's poltergeist, And Webster yeah Emmanuel Lewis cause he's the anti-christ,"
  10. Dude that is the literal definition of bigot/bigotry. I didn't make the word up or the definition. When you (not you, but someone) say you have no respect for a group of people (atheists) that makes you a bigot towards them, sorry that is the reality. I remember when I said Torii Hunter is a bigot against homosexuals people flipped ****, however it is the correct word to use. I am bigoted (don't respect) towards several groups of people: Hate Groups aka KKK White Supremacists, Packers fans etc..
  11. We believe in nothing Lebowski!
  12. big·otˈbiɡət/ noun a person who is intolerant toward those holding different opinions.
  13. To be fair the bullpen has been a disaster this off season. Inexcusable. I also would like the twins to have a backup plan for Buxton in case he comes out of the gate slow....
  14. dude, you were the one who made the analogy, not me. So don't get salty when someone responds to it.
  15. "One true marriage" in itself is discrimination since you are basically saying homosexual couples marriages don't "count" that is discrimination plain and simple, so no, they shouldn't have to bake that nonsense. An apt comparison would be a gay couple asking a straight baker to make a cake that says: "God Hates All Hetrosexuals"
  16. So a gay couple wanting a wedding cake leads us to a hate group wanting a KKK cake? Sweet slippery slope fallacy, bud. So gay marriage messages are the same thing as hate speech messages in your comparison? Does. Not. Compute. Also I'd wager that 99% of KKK members wouldn't have the balls to approach a black baker and request such a thing anyways (unless they were in their hoods/garb) and surrounded by 30 of their knucklehead buddies.
  17. Cool it with the tone. If you actually re-read what I have said a couple times: I think there should be a $10 national minimum wage, and from there, cities and states can adjust their cost of living (i.e. LA, Seattle, Chicago, NYC, SF should be $15, duluth, etc should be $10 and MSP/Milwaukee should be somewhere int he middle) $10 an hour at least makes someone $400 a week (still, barely anything) but at least a couple paychecks should be able to afford someone rent/basic food in several parts of the country. Then ideally those same people can save even a tiny bit for mid to long term savings as well. That extra $100-$120 a week for people will make a big difference for them IMO (meanwhile it shouldn't effect the businesses much at all) By the way, nobody is saying definitely WHAT the number should exactly be, just that it should be a bit higher. Yes, a couple jobs and hours might be sacrificed in the near term, but eventually the market will correct itself (bad businesses will go out of business) and better businesses will figure out how to run a better business.
  18. The cake shop REFUSED to serve the homosexual couple, that is literally the same thing as denying them a seat at a restaurant.
  19. Yeah. Game. Changer.
  20. My issue is: if you want to take a chance on a once solid, but now 2-3 years removed player, why not make it Cliff Lee?
  21. Sano was just fine in the minors at 3rd, and in his limited time last season had very good UZR and other stats. Besides if there was actually a legit and huge concern he couldn't man 3rd, then why on earth do you go out and commit multiple years to a DH type this off season? (park)
  22. I think people are over-rating Plouffe quite a bit...let's look at the numbers: 2015: 14th out of 21 in WAR for 3B (guys behind him that 15 out of 21 OPS+/wRC+ It's preposterous that we are letting this kind of player dictate what we can/can't do with the future of the franchise (Sano) Everyone is dead set on getting some insane return on Plouffe, I say, who cares! Get a couple decent prospects or a lottery ticket or two and call it a day! He shouldn't be in our long term plans anyways, might as well get something decent now, let Sano play 3rd instead of messing with Sano all season and eventually trading Plouffe for the exact same return (or worse) or losing him to FA eventually.
  23. Yeah NH and Iowa are terrible cross sections of America as a whole: Iowa: 93% White 66% Protestant Under Educated New Hampshire: 94% white Poverty levels twice as low the national average Income 20% more then the national average. All these two contests show us is that: Cruz does well in the undereducated/protestant group. Bernie does well amongst whites under the age of 35.
  24. Dude seriously what on earth are you talking about. Couple things: as a small business owner you shouldn't be paying ALL of your employees minimum wage anyways, ideally you are already paying your employees a somewhat LIVABLE wage to begin with. If giving said minimum wage employees an extra $2.50 an hour (btw: I think if you raise the minimum wage to $10, it should go up to $8.50 for the first 9 months, $9.00 for the next 6 months, then $10, to give everyone plenty of time to adjust) is really enough to shut your business down, then good riddance. If I had a family business that had been around 100+ years like in your bizarre hypothetical, I certainly would hope I was a good enough businessman to figure out to run the business with an additional $100 a week expense on a full time minimum wage employee. Perhaps I would figure out a way to sell $100 more a week in goods by either: 1. Selling more. 2. Raising prices a bit. 3. Cutting back in needless expenses. It happens all the time, you act like every small business in the world is going to fail because the minimum wage would go up a couple bucks in this scenario. That holds about as much water as your "Trump Supporters are all democrats" nonsense.
