I'm concerned about the bench bats in your scenario, you would have Shafer, Hicks, Hermann, and Pinto as bench bats and Pinto is the only semi power threat. I wouldn't trust any of those guys in a PH situation
Either way I would like to see both of these guys on the major league staff, either as manager/1st or 3rd base coach/hitting instructor (only in Molitor's case)
I'm going to the Twins/Astros game in Houston on Monday and I'm super excited that I don't have to watch Correia. Every Twins game I've seen the past few years has featured Correia getting blown up and I was kinda depressed seeing him as the scheduled starter on Monday. This is the best news I've heard in a while!
You have to expect diamond and Walters to come back down to earth, even if just a little bit. but diamond(much less anyone) can't be expected to keep up the rediculous stats that he's posted. Walters may be a good find but he's just not as good as he's showed, he will definately settle into more of a back of the rotation type. I want to believe in these guys but in reality the rotation you posted is a bunch of #4 starters and the only FA pitches that are above a #3 are gonna be way too expensive for us and we don't usually roll like that. You can put a tux on poo but it's still poo. You can't expect a fan base to buy into that rotation.
If that's the roster it means they don't want to sell tickets. It would be one FA pitcher upgrade over what we have now and depending on the FA that's not going to make much of a difference. If the fan base sees a poor team this year and there is not much of an upgrade common sense tells me that fans will see no reason to keep going. Every team must provide some sort of hope at the beginning of the year for the fan base to gather around, that's just basic sports business.
Sounds like an 80-90 loss team to me, poor defense, mediocre pitching, and a decent but not overwhelming lineup. Sounds like the rangers for most of last decade. I don't really have a better proposition for next year but it's not looking good either way unless we spend some $ on pitching or trade willingham for someone who will be an ace. It looks to me like either way we're playing for 2014
I hope he will hurt opposing pitchers with his speed on the bases! Sorry, someone had to do it...He's gonna be a great addition to our farm system and to pun lovers like me.
I feel like there is going to be a high college arm that will drop to #32, there always seems to be one, possibly Stroman or Watcha. I'm hoping for that and then Brown at 42, wishful thinking I guess.
Hensley could very well be gone but you never know, Shooter Hunt was projected to go 10-15 in 2008 and he fell to us (although now we know why). I'm personally hoping for Smoral anyways. As far as Buttery goes I brought him up because I've heard he's had a lot of helium as of late and some people are projecting him as a late first rounder. I haven't seen or heard a lot and I thought you guys may have. Great series though.
What are your thoughts on the Ty's, Ty Hansly and Ty Buttery? I've heard a lot about Buttery that he could be a top of the order guy in the Mussina mold(probably because of the knuckle curve) although there is a lot of debate on his ranking, I've seen him as high as late first round and as low as third round. Hansly has had his stock rise over the past few weeks but his delivery scares me, he is all arm and that could mean potential injury problems down the road. Do you guys see either of these guys at 32 or 42?
I love this series! One thought, I just noticed that you passed over Ty Buttery, is there any reason for that? I am under the impression that he is a consensus first rounder
