  1. Jeremy Hellickson pitched poorly on Friday, but still earned a victory over the Orioles after allowing eight runs on 10 hits over his 7 2/3 innings. Hellickson struck out four and walked one in the game. After allowing three early runs, Hellickson was on cruise control after the Rays offense bombarded the Orioles with 12 runs through the first six innings. He ran into trouble in the eighth though, where the O’s tagged him for four more runs before chasing him from the game. He’s been extremely inconsistent on the season and will carry an awful 5.82 ERA into his next start where he’ll take on the Blue Jays in Toronto on Wednesday.
  2. Darin Mastroianni will undergo surgery on Wednesday to repair a bone chip on his left ankle, and will be sidelined for at least six weeks. It was a very discouraging sign when Mastroianni, who was already progressing slowly in his recovery, was uncomfortable testing his ankle during light sprints on Wednesday. He shouldn't be expected to return to the Twins until after the All-Star break and can safely be dropped in deeper mixed formats. Source: Tyler Mason on Twitte
  3. Twins released LHP Rafael Perez. Perez, who underwent shoulder surgery last September, had been pitching at Triple-A Rochester in recent weeks, compiling a 2.25 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 2/3 K/BB ratio over his first four innings of work. The 31-year-old lefty could draw some interest from teams looking for bullpen help.
  4. According to Twins' GM Rob Antony, Rich Harden's rehab has been "slow" and "not very well to be honest". Harden felt soreness in his surgically-repaired shoulder while throwing a few weeks ago, and hasn't progressed much since suffering that setback. It's starting to look like a longshot that the oft-injured right-hander will ever make an impact for the Twins. Source: Rhett Bollinger on Twitte
  5. Joe Mauer is out of Friday's lineup due to back stiffness. It isn't a major concern, but Twins manager Ron Gardenhire didn't want take any chances. Consider him day-to-day. Source: Rhett Bollinger on Twitter
  6. Sox again! Looks like we are in last place.
  7. The Twins are just slow and are failing to make any roster moves this year.
  8. Not a bad team, as the sox zoom to the top of the standings.
  9. Depends on the bullpen too, with 7 man well rested pens you can pull early and some days only a few are available makes you go longer.
  10. Chris Parmelee is 3-for-22 (.136) over his last eight games. A lone double counts as his only extra-base hit during that stretch. It's an awful time for Parmelee to scuffle, as Oswaldo Arcia has clearly passed him on the depth chart, relegating himself and Ryan Doumit into a platoon. If Parmelee (.214/.301/.337) continues to hit like an injured utility player, he may find himself in the business class on a flight to Rochester soon.

  12. Liam Hendriks has been placed on the disasbled list at Triple-A Rochester due to a sore right elbow. It could explain his struggles this season, as Hendriks holds a 5.53 ERA and 1.63 WHIP over five Triple-A starts. It's not clear at this point how long he'll be sidelined. Source: LaVelle E. 13. I have nottin against drinkin, i drink myself. Gardy saids get after it!
  14. Twins win and nobody here but drunks. SAD

  16. Josh Willingham is out of the Twins' lineup Saturday due to wrist soreness. Willingham is considered day-to-day. The 34-year-old outfielder has five homers and 15 RBI in 29 games. Aaron Hicks (elbow) is also sitting Saturday vs. the Orioles.
  17. Francisco Liriano made his season debut Saturday against the Mets and allowed one run in 5 1/3 innings as part of a 11-2 victory.
  18. Glen Perkins is unavailable on Friday due to soreness in his left side. The 30-year-old lefty has pitched fairly well to this point in the season, posting a 3.55 ERA, 1.03 WHIP and 20/5 K/BB ratio through his first 12 2/3 innings while converting all eight of his save chances. Consider him day-to-day for now. Jared Burton would likely draw any save chances while Perkins is out. Related: Jared Burton Source: Rhett Bollinger onTwitte
  19. No team came play better than the Twins
  20. Pedro Florimon Jr. left Thursday's game against the Red Sox with a tight right hamstring. It's not clear at this point how severe the injury is. Florimon Jr. was replaced at shortstop by Eduardo Escobar. Source: LaVelle E. Neal on Twitte
  21. Tim Wood has been shut down from his rehab assignment after developing more soreness in his pitching shoulder. He'll be examined at the Twins' Triple-A affiliate in Rochester. Wood is coming back from a rotator cuff strain and had allowed six runs over his last three rehab appearances. Source: LaVelle E. Neal on Twitter
  22. Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Kyle Gibson is not an option to replace Pedro Hernandez in the rotation. Gibson tossed a shutout Wednesday at Triple-A Rochester and now boasts a 3.32 ERA and 35/11 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings. Even though it appears he won't be called up soon, the righty is a good bet to spend significant time with the big club this season. Source: Rhett Bollinger on Twitter
  23. Is the crying done so we can enjoy the game now?
