Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports that the Indians have signed free agent outfielder Michael Bourn to a four-year, $48 million contract with a vesting option for 2017. That option vests for $12 million if Bourn reaches 550 plate appearances in 2016. It's another big offseason splash for the Indians, who have also acquired Nick Swisher, Trevor Bauer, Drew Stubbs, Jason Giambi, Mark Reynolds, Daisuke Matsuzaka, Matt Albers and Bryan Shaw. And they decided to keep shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera. Bourn will start in center field for Cleveland and should retain a high level of fantasy value. He hit .274/.348/.391 with nine homers, 57 RBI and 42 steals in 155 games last season for the Braves. The Indians will surrender their 2013 competitive balance pick, which would have been No. 69 overall. -
Billy Martin was the greatest manager, coach, and player ever, the drinking and friendship with Mantle will never be forgotten. I loved every minute of it. He is #1 in all of baseball.

Who was the hitting coach? Coaches are suppose to be helpful not forceful. Concussions are bad. They change your life forever. Maybe that is what he is trying to say and still trying to over come. Moody, the blame game, worthlessness, grumbling, estrogen. every little thing bother him, that is hard to over come. He is dreaming of being a hero for the Nats to try to over come theses feelings. Concussions are hard to over come and to explain, from happiness to just a sadness. -
CBS Sports' Jon Heyman reports that Joe Saunders' deal with the Mariners is for $7 million. Heyman adds that the left-hander can earn more through incentives. The deal has yet to officially be announced, but that should come soon. Saunders, 31, had a 4.07 ERA in 28 starts last season between the Orioles and Diamondbacks. Got to say Bob Allison was Mr Twin orginal and played his entire career as a Twin. A right handed 30hr guy we sure could use him now in rf.

Jim Eisenreich, was a great player who couldn't over come his fear of playing to a crowd. There little known back then and a lot less help.

With spring training coming up the Twins should try Mauer at 3b and 2b, the Twins have no need of ofers and 1b men. He is not a 30hr guy and it would strength Twins infield and one less weak hitter on Twins bench. Mauer is fine as a catcher, just the wear.

U can't have your cake and eat it too. No risk no gain. 3 years ago the Twins were ranked higher than the Yanks.

If you want a ace you got to pay like a ace. There is risk with young pitcher too, Pineda and he is no ace and probably never will be.

Mauer hasn't been healthy ernough to catch alot of games, don't worry he will get it back with more work, but does he have to, his bat does the talk.

I think Don Mincher was pretty great. He won game one with a hr in his first at bat. The first Twins world series hr and win ever. Off Drysdale as Mudcat won. The Twins should have never lost that Series, It was heart breaking.

Anthony Swarzak will miss a month after fracturing two ribs late last month in a non-baseball related activity. Swarzak suffered the injury while horsing with around with teammates at the team's recent TwinsFest event. His absence will stretch into the Grapefruit League schedule. I think the Twins can make the playoffs. That is what everyone hopes for, There is no reason that the Twins can't be a wild card team. It's all about getting off to a good start. With just a little confidence the younger players can really rally this team.

Rays designated SS Elliot Johnson for assignment. The Rays also designated Reid Brignac for assignment on Tuesday, leaving Yunel Escobar on his own at the top of the shortstop depth chart. Rays signed 2B Kelly Johnson to a one-year, $2.45 million contract. It's a low-risk deal for Tampa Bay that could potentially yield some high rewards. Johnson hit just .255/.313/.365 in 581 plate appearances last season for the Blue Jays but he has good power and his steady presence at second base will allow Ben Zobrist to exercise his defensive versatility. Johnson may be worth snagging in the later rounds of mixed league fantasy drafts this spring.
