  1. I think we're pretty close to the end now. The losses aren't even close at this point. 100+ games has a way of separating the contenders from the pretenders.
  2. Last offseason? Absolutely - they should have sold high on Jeffers, Lopez, Ryan and Buxton. This deadline, with a scrappy team desperate for support from ownership and the FO? No. They had to at least try a little buying. But it hasn't made the difference because it's still not a very good ballclub, all things considered.
  3. Cool. What happened next? I don't want to be a jerk, but that's kinda the crux of it. They really haven't won anything significant in a very long time. And they don't seem to be able to capitalize on an open window. They're a mid-tier organization at best. Donaldson is only saying what many of us already believe.
  4. He's not nice. But he's not wrong. The only thing he missed is that Minnesotans are smart. We can tell when a franchise has nothing going for it. The Twins have had a loser mentality for a very, very long time. The 0-18 playoff stretch was not a fluke. Neither is the recent cluster of missed playoff years. Most people are waiting to be woken up from their MLB slumber when the organization demonstrates a killer instinct in the FO and a never-say-die attitude on the field. Elite talent and relentless guts. The Twins still aren't close to either one. I like this year's team, but they're clearly headed for "also-ran" status.
  5. They kinda already did this in Iowa. Last night's game really sucked.
  6. Well, shucks. This is the kind of loss that can really stalk a contending team. I hope Shelton gives them an earful. Get 'em back on the field and cobble together a few wins.
  7. Wait ... what? Baldelli works as some sort of special assistant for the Dodgers, and Falvey has not accepted another position. When both of these guys have equivalent jobs to what they had in MN and are having success, then maybe roll out that last line. Until then, the fans may have been right.
  8. Sadly, this was pretty predictable. Trading Ryan at the height of his hype was absolutely necessary. It didn't happen. He must be feeling the pressure. He shouldn't. He's a #3 starter that has to role-play as an ace for a middling team in a Wild Card hunt. Here's hoping he comes back strong. The Twins have pushed most of their chips on this playoff push. If he can't figure it out, chances of playing meaningful baseball in September are slim.
  9. That's why I fault the Twins for very limited vision. Half measures only lead halfway to a title.
  10. Darn. Good enough to put up a fight but not good enough to win might be the '26 Twins in a nutshell. We'll see how they do from here.
  11. KC is a winner. That's clear already. Now get Jenkins up here and let these kids join the hunt.
  12. One of the preseason consolations - back when I was pushing for this team to rebuild - was the hope of getting a chance to see fringe players like Sabato get an actual chance. I'd love it even more if he gets a crack in a WC run.
  13. How long have we waited for this organization to use their best players in situations like this? Jenkins is also needed up here. They may stumble, but it's better than losing the WC hunt with the likes of Gray and Roden.
  14. If there isn't a 2027 season, I wonder how many fans will leave MLB for good? I personally can't imagine going back or caring even a little bit about MLB after that. I'd just as soon the league dissolve and spend my time watching town ball.
  15. Welcome! I hope this team's brightest days are ahead. But I don't want an owner to curry my favor. I simply want my team to win a World Series title. These deadline trades didn't really move the needle for this year, and they may make it harder to win in the years ahead. Winning will rebuild support. Nothing less than that will do the trick.
  16. Here's the only problem, though: Tom Pohlad and the Pohlad family were the causes of the "poor timing." This wasn't a fluke or a glitch in the offseason schedule. The grace is kind of you and speaks to the core decency of you as a Twins fan. But it's also fair to judge any Pohlad based on the decisions made by the Pohlad family. They were the owners then and still are now. The success or failings of this organization are their sole responsibility.
  17. No one can explain this. Pohlad painted himself into a corner with a series of offseason decisions that were mostly delusional. He had an assist from a surprisingly feisty Twins team in a surprisingly flat AL. If they fall short in the weeks ahead, this team is going to be even further from building a winner than they were at the end of last season. That's the cost of a lack of vision and an unwillingness to make unpopular but necessary decisions. But, a rough '26 season where you're out of the hunt by June or July was going to be the cost of a rebuilding vision, too. That's the tradeoff. They better get Buxton and Ryan healthy and get it together offensively. And fast.
  18. There's just something about this team that struggles at the first sign of expectation of success. I was hoping it was just a Rocco thing, but it seems to run a little deeper in the culture. We'll see. This team has positively surprised me a few times this season. Here's hoping for a few more. But it's possible that the gas has finally run out. And, of course, at just about the worst possible time.
  19. He gave me my first autograph before a game in 1986. And then he blew a save. Here's hoping you're very wrong.
  20. Reliever trades made at the deadline give me a mild fan form of PTSD. Here's hoping it goes well. They didn't go big. Let's just hope they don't go home. At least the future wasn't mortgaged.
  21. "He beat the White Sox with a six-inning, one-run outing on July 1" I see the plan here. They're gonna have him start all six remaining games against the Pale Hose. Smart move.
  22. I was all ready to slap a good wet blanket on any comments about the trade deadline: "If you can't beat the Royals at home, you don't need to worry about any trades." Shelton's Hellions weren't having it. Now, superstition compels me to say it: this team stinks and is going nowhere.
  23. I was watching Gameday and they were headed to the 9th down 3-0 with like one hit all day. What did you all do? Which one of you knows sorcery?
