  1. I wasn't trying to knock Carroll there. I was just saying that he's been a great pickup for the Twins, even if he hasn't set the world on fire with his bat.
  2. Carroll's slugging percentage may not be anything to write home about, but his defense has been fantastic so far this season, regardless of where he's played.
  3. Great play by Span to help Pavano work around the leadoff double.
  4. It seems like the plan coming into this series was to give Mauer today off no matter what. Otherwise, Gardy could've taken him out before the 8th inning of last night's blowout win so he could be ready to go today. When I saw Mauer still behind the plate in the 9th, I knew that we'd be seeing Butera starting today. With that being said, I don't think it's the worst thing in the world to give Mauer a day off here, especially with Morneau back playing first.
  5. Great hustle by Morneau there to beat out the throw. That was impressive.
  6. Nice play by Carroll getting the runner at home.
  7. Shoot. Hopefully Diamond can come up with a little damage control here.
  8. I agree. Blackburn was pretty terrible, but the entire team seemed to come together to pick him up, and that's something we haven't seen much of this season.
  9. He was a defensive replacement in the 8th.
  10. True. And right on cue, he hits a bomb and really makes me look like a horse's a**
  11. That's an interesting point. I just think we would be seeing at least glimpses by now of him being decent, and I haven't seen it yet. My initial post was made out of frustration I guess, and I should probably give him a little more time.
  12. I don't remember saying anything about Casilla being a major league player....not sure why his name is mentioned here. But you can't seriously tell me that there's another team in Major League Baseball that would have Trevor Plouffe on its roster.
  13. I wonder what Trevor Plouffe has to do to prove he's not a major league player.
  14. Yeah, I'm definitely not saying it's a bad thing he's done. It just sucks that the Twins can't even get 5 innings from most of their starters.
  15. Wow, Blackburn's night is over.
  16. Minnesota's situational hitting is embarrassing.
  17. That was clearly a homerun.
  18. Mercifully, Cabrera gives the Twins a free out with idiotic baserunning.
  19. If Blackburn stays in the rotation all season, he will have a great shot at 20 losses.
  20. Well, hopefully the Twins aren't done scoring runs. 5 probably won't be enough to win this game.
  21. Gardy doesn't like to screw up the lineup continuity I guess, even though the Twins have used about 40 different lineups. Who knows.
  22. While I'd prefer to see Perkins in that situation, I don't really have a problem with Gardy's decision to use Capps. You should have confidence that your closer can go out and hang a zero on the board in the ninth inning of a tied game. However, I do agree that Gardy's attitude about the whole thing sucks. If Capps continues to fail in that situation, you can't keep running him out there just because his job title says "Closer". You have to put someone in there who can get the job done.
  23. Mauer does a good job fouling off pitches until he can find a good one to ground out with.
