  1. No kidding. At least a fine or suspension. He shouldn't get away with that garbage at the big league level.
  2. Yeah, it was pretty bad. Carroll was shocked that he got ejected though, so he must not have said anything too terrible.
  3. There was a bang-bang play at first, but Carroll was clearly safe. The ump called him out, so he turned around and said something and was immediately ejected (first of his career). Then Gardy came out, raised hell, and was given the heave-ho as well. But that's the third call that ump has missed tonight.
  4. There are some really good umpires in the league. Tonight's first base ump is not one of them.
  5. Did Carroll just get tossed? I couldn't tell if it was him or Jerry White.
  6. Miguel Cabrera steals second. What an embarrassment.
  7. In hindsight, the Twins probably should've left Swarzak in the bullpen and just set up a pitching machine on the mound. Probably would've gotten the same results.
  8. Twins better be ready to put up an 8 spot again tonight.
  9. Yeah, after going back and reading my post, I realized that it would be impossible to tell whether I was being serious or not. I don't always agree with Gardenhire, but I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that he has a much better feel for his team than I do.
  10. Before I start getting ripped for my comment, I should probably let it be known that I was being a smart ass (my fault for not making that clear in my previous post). Obviously Gardenhire wouldn't deliberately sabotage his team's chances in order to avoid questions from reporters. I've second-guessed many of his decisions before and more often than not he's proven why I'm watching games from my living room while he's watching them from the dugout. However, it is disappointing that a Major League Baseball player would have trouble making a transition from right field to left field, if that is in fact the case with Revere.
  11. My theory is if he plays Revere in left today, he knows he'll be asked later on about the possibility of keeping him there and moving Willingham to right in the future. So he would rather diminish his team's chances of winning one game than have to answer questions about a topic he doesn't feel like discussing.
  12. I agree, it was about what I expected and not quite as bad as Marquis (it's his first start, so I should cut him some more slack I suppose). But it does feel like the Twins may have replaced one batting practice pitcher with another (although I do admit they didn't have too many other options). If they can get a couple quality starts out of him though, it'll be a significant upgrade.
  13. Well, Devries was doing ok till that inning, but the end result of his outing was pretty Marquis-esque.
  14. This should be a pretty quick review by the umps. No way that homerun holds up.
  15. I like this idea, although I'd go the other way and have both leagues use the DH. Obviously I'm in the minority on this one, but I hate watching pitchers bat. I'll admit, the added strategy of an NL game is interesting, but I'm not paying to see players who are either going to bunt or strike out on 3 pitches every time. I'd rather see guys who are paid to hit in the batter's box.
  16. There are a few things I would change that aren't rules per se, but changes I would like to see nonetheless. The first would be to allow the official scorer to decide who the winning and losing pitchers are for each game. It just doesn't seem right that a starter could pitch 8 scoreless innings, the closer comes in and gives up the lead and if his team scores in the next inning, he gets the win. Another one is if a fielder madly misplays a ball, it should still be considered an error even if he didn't touch it. The batter shouldn't be awarded a hit if a popup lands in between 3 fielders in front of home plate. I realize these aren't exactly rule changes and would have no impact on the actual game, they are still things that should be changed.
  17. The last thing you want to do is start walking guys with an 8 run lead.
  18. Is Perkins hurt? Or did he lose his job as the 8th inning setup man? I guess I missed the reason he wasn't pitching that inning.
  19. Does Nyjer Morgan flip his bat every time he makes contact with the ball?
  20. Pavano's day is done. Really encouraging outing by him today though....hopefully he can build on it the next time out.
  21. Dozier gets the job done again with his second sac fly.
  22. Actually, I may have sold Pavano a little short there. He is pitching very well, getting ahead of hitters and keeping the ball down (for the most part).
  23. He's pitching better than he had the last few starts, but the defense has made some big plays behind him too.
  24. Morneau walks, here comes Dozier with the bases loaded and 1 out.
  25. 0-0 in the top of the 4th, Twins have runners on the corners with 1 out and Morneau coming up.
