  1. That would be next, along with Bob Gibson's penchant for chin music.
  2. I've sworn an oath of non-violence.
  3. Jim Thome's charm, and Brad Radke's grit.
  4. And the band played on...
  5. These questions, and many more, will start receiving defining answers beginning Tuesday. And we may even be able to see for ourselves on Wednesday, as that one is being televised. About damn time.
  6. In the end, I probably go to the Pub and party until the end. This is another of those '20 years ago, my answer would be different' sort of things.
  7. I suppose plan for either type. You never know for sure.
  8. Now that zombie cells exist, http://www.giantfreakinrobot.com/sci/scientists-create-zombie-cells-poorly.html#CcSDUF0r5Pg4dgMh.01 Where do YOU go for the zombie apocalypse? For those who like statistics, here is some advice: http://www.sciencealert.com/statisticians-have-determined-the-safest-hideout-for-a-zombie-apocalypse
  9. Can I just fetch them a Morlock? They can give me the 35K and I'll be long gone before dinner time.
  10. Assumption = fact, in this case. No free passes in the baseball threads.
  11. In the film, there are some remnants of the advanced civilization that existed prior to the war that pretty much wiped out the planet. Most of the remaining industrial-type technology was underground, where the Morlocks ruled and took Eloi prisoners for slaves and, ultimately, food. The quickest way to get a handle on the environment may be to search for 'Time Machine 1960.' and then check out the images from the film that are available. And if you've never seen the film, it actually has held up quite well over the years; give it a shot.
  12. I also am still thinking about this; trying to limit it to choices that are actually in my library. Inclining towards one book about Earth science, one about Chemistry, and one about Engineering. I thought about including works related to the Arts, but maybe it would be best to let the Eloi start from scratch and develop their own.
  13. Me too. I offended someone and all I got was this lousy t-shirt.
  14. I'm less certain "not expected to" constitutes an absolute than you are. It's "not expected" to snow this weekend. Are we sure about that?
  15. His debut may be the most important game of the season. Hope it happens at home.
  16. In the end, the only thing that's actually going to matter is Sano getting his 4-5 at bats every game. I sure wasn't planning to buy tickets to watch him field, no matter what position he plays. Buxton, on the other hand...
  17. Okay, sticking with the time travel theme. In the 1960 classic film, The Time Machine, based on HG Wells' novel there is a mystery left at the end. The Time Traveller (played by Rod Taylor) gets back in his machine and returns forever to a future with the illiterate Eloi and the degenerate cannibals, the Morlocks. To rebuild the shattered world, he takes with him three books from his library. His friend Philby inquires of the housekeeper "What three books would you have taken?" So, to rebuild the future, what three books would YOU bring?
  18. I think I'd go and rescue Sam Beckett.
  19. If you think of a good one please do jump in.
  20. I'm tempted to go for something from Cards Against Humanity but that might prove too un-family friendly for this site.
  21. Since all the baseball threads have devolved into pissing contests again, let me see if I can think up a question to get this thread moving again. With your permission, Mr. Vanimal.
  22. Just drawing a breath would likely be enough to accomplish that. -- some random Internet dude
  23. Lew Ford was a huge favorite.
  24. Rick and Daryl chase Jesus.
