  1. My reel-to-reel tape drive doesn't have the bandwidth of your 8-track.

  3. I thought the cholesterol greased up the veins to help the booze slide on through.

  5. I see Hicks stats, a Hicks photo, and a reference to Hicks dominating, in every thread I look at where you post. That's trolling via your profile and settings. And please don't continue trolling the game threads, either.
  6. Four partly different words: Mike Pelfrey's Best Friends.
  7. That bottom third of the lineup is a serious risk for an aggregate o-fer.
  8. I am unwilling to risk horsemeat anywhere but Europe.
  9. Implicit in my parenthetical comment was a question I intended to ask: do waivers transfer over for the rest of the season, after a trade? I.e. does the waiver pertain to the player, or to the team, once granted?
  10. Jay hasn't pitched in a game yet. Were you thinking of Burdi, also in Chattanooga?
  11. The good news is that experience has shown it's not difficult to obtain waivers if you want to remove him. (I know, he can refuse a second demotion to the minors and elect free agency instead.)
  12. C'mon. Nobody Dies Because They Don’t Have Access To Health CareTM.
  13. Ugh, writing up anything on Aaron's May 8 game would be too tall an order for me, so I'm going to lift this passage directly from Jeremy's minor league report: 'Nuff said.
  14. DFA for someone like DanSan probably is for demotion to Rochester, not formal release. To address your question though, probably being taken in trade by another team is preferable. He continues to collect that sweet major league dough, plus service time toward a pension.
  15. You could do a feature on Mrs Ash, who was raised in Chicago. Raised the right way, I mean to say: her dad would call the kids in sick for school on Opening Day, and take her and her brother to Wrigley. One year her brother actually was sick enough to be in the hospital, and she and her dad still went to Opening Day. She also was president of the Cal Koonce Fan Club, unless I am mixing up which player is which. I knew there was a good reason I married into that fine upstanding family.
  16. He has to have one. He hadn't been on a 40-man until the Twins got him via Rule-5, and he's been in the minors for part of only two seasons since then.
  17. That's the dilemma. Even with the bad blood, the Mets probably say "we'll do our own reclamation project in that case" unless someone overpays. If an independent arbitrator put together what he felt to be a fair swap, both teams probably say "no".
  18. I can't imagine the Mets letting him go cheaply. Do you view him as better than a reclamation project at this point? There's a big chance you end up with nothing for whatever you give away to get him.
  19. I'm sensing a bit of a disconnect between these two points of view.
  20. http://www.kimberlyaccess.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/niftylift-hr15-cherry-picker.jpg You are FIRED for being a terrible cherry picker. Don't you know you omit the failures and only woof the successes? (Or vice versa, depending on which POV you take.)
  21. If you listen carefully, you can hear the bitter chuckle from Michael Tonkin, seated in row 30 of the daily American shuttle to Rochester. / OK, you're in the wrong part of the country, so it might not be audible to you
  22. I am only surprised that ChiTown didn't jump on it right away.
  23. No chicken dinnah at the ashbury household tonight either. Flounder. But enough about the bullpen.
