  1. You could have made the same suggestion December 14. Did you?
  2. You know, you and the other guy take the time to scan this thread and take further time to comment that the thread probably should not exist. So I went back and re-read it from start to finish. And I came away thinking that it was an example of what's good about TwinDaily; from a simple starting point the conversation went off onto various tangents with nuggets of value here and there. Including your extrapolation that the ideal backup is a well-paid starting catcher somewhere. So I really don't understand the need for belittling language like "squawking" from you and "bigger problems" from WS to suggest that we squelch ourselves.
  3. Can we make fun of them? Because, I like making fun of them.
  4. His management of the pitching staff has been quite good too, IMO; a couple of games where we could (and did) pick apart his choices, but early in the season you can make a case that he was trying to find out for sure what he's got as a staff, at the risk of that particular win or loss.
  5. Kind of confirms what we knew going into the season, the positions the Twins are overstocked at are the outfield corners and/or first base. It would be natural to swap out Parmelee, so I guess TPTB really want to give him every chance to establish himself.
  6. RB, I'm pretty certain I met the same guy in Bermidji. You sure it wasn't an Applebees you were at?
  7. Ha! I'm giving away my age if I say that I think of Fan Mail when I hear that word.
  8. Oh, probably I'm not giving Boston a fair shake. The last time I was there happened to be the morning after they went to 0-3 in an obscure 7-game series against the Yankees. Talk radio as we were driving that morning was all Bob Freakin' Stanley this, and Bill Freakin' Buckner that. It was glorious. The patented fatalism died that year of course.
  9. It's a meme that the Twins' medical resources are below par. That's all I was doing there. For TR to have better medical information than us arm-chair experts, he'd have to be doing something unexpected; h'yuk yuk yuk.
  10. How did the Tigers go 43-119 in 2003? Did they purposely go sign a bunch of sub-replacement players?
  11. He has a mole at some other team's medical staff?
  12. I don't like to sip my Vichyssoise wearing a parka.
  13. Commandments have been broken on account of her, I'm pretty sure; maybe some laws in certain states. / By 12-year-olds, Chief is likely to add.
  14. I was late to the party in thinking Perkins would be good in this role. Striking out the side? Yeah, that's pretty good.
  15. Slow with the KC sunshine avatar, but here is the celebration one right on cue.
  16. Whoa!!! My bad. KC seems to be doing all right without it, but one mustn't tempt fate and assume things will continue well.
  17. Bottle that mojo, we might need some more. Am I right that all four of the first batters of the inning swung at the first pitch? Somebody did some scouting...
  18. Over the course of a season, the difference between players with the most/fewest walks is greater for batters than for pitchers. And through the minors batting-eye has always been part of Hicks's game. No reason to think he's not adjusting to what major league pitchers are capable of showing him on 1-2 and 2-2 and even 3-2.
  19. Justin started out well then has been scuffling the past 10 games. Hope it's just one of those things. Have they been facing more lefties than usual? He's still got that obnoxious L/R split.
  20. I have to guess that the early "book" on Hicks is to let him get himself out, by not giving him anything to hit with two strikes. The last three games give some (SSS) evidence he's adjusted, and it may be a little while yet until the pitchers adjust too. Then I hope he adjusts again, and whacks the smack out of the balls they lay in there.
  21. Link, please? I must have this for my adopt-a-prospect page, literally.
