  1. That was really underhanded. He thought he was betting against you. Not against Chief.
  2. How do you keep time to the music?
  3. No taking yourself in the pool!
  4. So, shall we start a pool on who in this thread will sign off first because it's a late night?
  5. Go as what? The Kool-Aid man?
  6. Correia, Willingham and Doumit were guys intended to bridge to the good players in the pipeline. If we can cut ties early with Doumit, then 2013 succeeded in at least this one way. Probably the same can be said about Willingham. Correia, unfortunately, looks like he has a bridging role to play for the 2014 squad.
  7. That was always the knock on Puckett of course, that he played so deep and could occasionally snare a ball headed over the fence but gave up a ton of singles in front of him. Hicks playing deep suggests a lack of confidence, not befitting a great defensive reputation when he came up. But I guess the gist of the article is that this is a wrong interpretation.
  8. OK, one thought. From here on out I want to see good results from the players who matter going forward. RBI single by Arcia in the first inning definitely qualifies.
  9. I'm out of thoughts, personally. / so, what else is new?
  10. 2013 was supposed to be a season of figuring out what we've got. I hope that the front office now can be decisive in the off-season, perhaps letting the trade market confirm what they think about their players (or conversely get more in return than they expect, for the guys they want to part ways with), and not let 40-man roster congestion ever be an excuse for personnel decisions going forward.
  11. Sympathizes: (Yeah, I'm basically just spelling out Parker's joke.) Way back in another age, I always felt that early-career Latroy Hawkins and especially Willie Banks would have been more successful if the umpires gave them half a chance. I don't know whether my one-sided fan's view would have been borne out by stats like Parker has pointed to here, though. Do these records get down to the level of pitch count? I suspect if the first-pitch calls are going against the Twins on a systematic basis it matters more than later on - the difference between 1-0 and 0-1 is pretty huge on how the rest of the PA comes out. With all the counts lumped together, maybe that's why a seemingly large disparity between two teams like the Twins and Brewers doesn't translate into much difference in results.
  12. Could a different pitching coach be the change-of-scenery he needs? I'm not in the Anderson Is Terrible camp, but sometimes a switch to someone else that is good but has a different approach could make a difference with the non-performers on the roster. The question about the 40-man slot is vexing of course - that roster is littered with marginal cases like Liam.
  13. You know the definition of insanity, right?
  14. Perhaps just a tad. I recommend going easy on the Ginger vs Mary Ann content of this thread until you calm down.
  15. Sure. You got the gist of it.
  16. Rather poor outing by the Rally Avatar, this game. The rally in the 7th fizzled exactly when she entered the scene. I blame incorrect managing.
  17. While searching for something completely else, I ran across this bit of fuel for the Ginger vs Mary Ann (vs Mrs Howell?!?) controversy: [video=youtube;S8rCy173y7Y]
  18. I'll have to locate my g-string.
  19. Something heavenly, at any rate.
  20. I figured you had noticed right away and it just took a while for the fingers to hit the keyboard to post about it.
  21. I played first-chair* cello in grade school, so I was aware of the meaning. *Also last chair. Small school.
  22. Come on. Your sister may not be the prettiest, but there's no reason to say that about her.
  23. You mis-heard. "Shave the bassoons." We're tired of longhair music.
  24. (CTTF, and maybe everybody, knows this one) What's the difference between an onion and a bassoon? Nobody cries when you chop up a bassoon.
