  1. Kubel gets an assist in LF! Smart move to sign him.
  2. You can't expect a run every single game!
  3. Moderator's note: Amen.
  4. Any cook can cook. It takes a real chef to not cook.
  5. Mommmm's gone. Mommmm's gone. That's what Campbell's soup's for. Mommmm's gone.
  6. If they are, IMO it's not a great way to build a team. A few years ago you could get something interesting in trade for a spare part that can plug in to a contender; not so much now. To invest two of the 25-man roster spots on the (say) 50/50 chance each of them can be flipped for a C-grade prospect just isn't a good use of those spots; the players need to have those spots because they will help the team while they are part of the team.
  7. Regarding Parmelee: Antony in this and other public statements sounds like Ryan, in that to me they sound like they're talking in code at times. Is "a profile guy" an actual thing, insider code for something? Or, is he just trying to say "he needs to fit the following profile (which we think lines up with his skillset): ..."?
  8. We're not sure if the pitching part has ever been finalized.
  9. http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/electriclightorchestraelo/cantgetitoutofmyhead.html I was being a poop.
  10. Graduate Student Emeritus, more like.
  11. That's Electric Light Orchestra, not the Boss.
  12. Not to divert from the thread-topic or anything, but: Welcome!
  13. Unlike other roster moves, I don't think you have to open up a spot days in advance for these FA.
  14. There could be a waiver claim in the works. I *think* it's necessary to have an open spot when you make the waiver claim, not just wait and open up the spot if the claim goes through; that would explain the timing. The wait is due to there being the potential of another team ranking "higher" (in reverse order of standings last October) putting in a claim before the time is up.
  15. This list from sometime TD contributor Stew Thornley contains coaches and managers as well. http://milkeespress.com/twinsnumbers.html
  16. Didn't care much for the trade when it happened last year, like it even less now. This outcome leave me to wonder who is backup CF?
  17. With a slo-pitch Short Center Fielder to handle what would otherwise fall in.
  18. Because it's complimentary I am going to give in to the temptation to leave the post intact and not infract you for it. BUT, the discussion of moderation STILL belongs elsewhere.
  19. For me it's probably the sense of "belonging" to something much greater than myself.
  20. The umpire will still make the pitcher bat. Even if FedEx gets your other guy from Rochester to the ballpark by the 5th inning.
  21. In thread. After thread. After thread. Twins make a roster move. Time to launch a retrospective on the Twins front office.
  22. How many of us identified this #4 without some searching? / not me, for one. Though teh Googlez came through once again for me
  23. Can't even begin to imagine what your definition of a "prospect" is, if you're ready to erase from your radar someone who had an above average OPS while a year younger than the average of his peers in single-A. Of course he has to make progress - that's the nature of a 21-year-old prospect, he still could fail. You're ready to say he *has* failed?
  24. OK, gotta run now, will have to miss the rest of this slugfest.
