  1. Wow. No man-muscles yet. Uppercut swing, gets as far as short center.
  2. Come on Buxton. Time to bust through.
  3. My shirt was manufactured just fine.
  4. You didn't finish reading the CBU. It's 0-0. You didn't miss a single solitary thing.
  5. I wore my new royal blue shirt to the bank yesterday. I figured a Pub Crawl logo would look good when conducting a transaction involving a certain degree of mutual trust, no?
  6. 0-0 going into the bottom of the second. CBU. PS, Big Pelf's got this.
  7. She left the rest of her sentence to the implied, "and your glue is no good and doesn't stick, like the kind you might buy at KMart."
  8. The lack of an off-season training regimen pays off!
  9. It will be, after he pinch runs for Torii in the 8th.
  10. Top-flight? Wouldn't that be the kind of guy we'd like to keep? (The usual dilemma: if we think one-two good games would be only a flash in the pan, so will 29 other GMs. Conversely, if a few GMs start to value Ricky, so will ours...)
  11. At this junction in the road, we do need a little thunder.
  12. Somewhat along the lines of a recent celebrated Miguel Sano quote.
  13. Very tough loss in the first game. Losing streak now at 4, and could come at hardly a worse time. We need a win tonight. A few other thoughts: 1) Mike Pelfrey. 'Nuf said, Big Pelf's got this. 2) Garrett Richards. The Angels threw a competent pitcher at us in game 1, we get another one tonight. Big righty (not as big as our guy of course), eats innings, strikes out his share of batters, keeps his team in the game. He walks a few, so maybe patience at the plate will be key. 3) The Twins Offense. This seems like the overall key. First game today was winnable, and a single run in any number of late inning chances would have achieved that. We need sustained offense the rest of this season if we're going to have a sniff at the postseason. 4) Mr Teflon. Blaine Boyer does it again. He gets tagged for this afternoon's loss, but the run was unearned. So his season ERA is now a tidy 2.36. Does anybody on this planet believe this number fairly reflects the season he has had? Besides members of the Twins front office, I mean? 5) Age 93. My dad celebrates his birthday today. I live too far away to see him as much as I'd like, but he and his bride of 4 years seem to be getting out and about with the other retirees in his residential complex. May we all age as gracefully. Lineups: Angels Garrett Thomas Richards, R, 6'3", 210lb, SP 1 SS E. Aybar (B ) 2 RF K. Calhoun (L ) 3 CF M. Trout (R ) 4 DH A. Pujols (R ) 5 LF D. Murphy (L ) 6 3B D. Freese (R ) 7 C C. Iannetta (R ) 8 1B E. Navarro (L ) 9 2B T. Featherston (R ) Twins Michael Alan Pelfrey, R, 6'7", 240lb, SP 1 2B B. Dozier (R ) 2 1B J. Mauer (L ) 3 DH M. Sano (R ) 4 3B T. Plouffe (R ) 5 RF T. Hunter (R ) 6 LF E. Rosario (L ) 7 SS E. Nunez (R ) 8 C C. Herrmann (L ) 9 CF B. Buxton (R )
  14. Ugh. Foul pop to end the game.
  15. Escobar is due. Let's at least tie this.
  16. The bill of Huston Street's cap is as oily as Joe Nathan's!
  17. FTFY. This was a winnable game. Still possible (4-3, top of 12, CBU), but the odds went way down when Escobar dropped a double play liner.
  18. Liner hit Escobar in a bad spot. His glove. / I'm off the "Escobar is a steady defensive SS" bandwagon again.
  19. Really good play by Dozier to close out the top of the 11th.
  20. Memo to Esco and Hicks: end this game NOW. / edit: 3-3 bottom of 10. CBU.
  21. Nice when a running catch in CF is routine. Kudos, Mr Hicks.
