  1. Survived might be too strong a word. He just keeps posting anyway.
  2. He sees you when you're sleeping. He knows when you're awake. And if you step on his lawn, he has a fleet of A-10C Thunderbolts at his disposal.
  3. I'm looking at this series now and laughing. Might as well, the Nationals are.
  4. It's not always this good. Some games I'm here the whole time.
  5. My nominee for Post Of The Game.
  6. Fernando Abad seems to have studied at the Mike Pelfrey School of Rapid Pitching.
  7. Good counterpoint to the nay-sayers who would tell you his .067 BA is an empty .067.
  8. True story: Mrs Ashbury had exactly that happen to her. I knew at that point she was a keeper. True story.
  9. Troopers do get thrown up upon, they're somewhat used to it. Still won't do much toward talking your way out of the speeding ticket and DUI.
  10. Remember when Dozier hit that three-run homer in the top of the inning? Those were good times.
  11. The other day there was a post about Dozier and Escobar not getting along. The explanation was it's a running joke between them. Looks like it's continuing - after the HR, Escobar gave Dozier a vigorous shoulder rub as a congratulation and Dozier looked irritated and said something that was probably along the lines of "back off". It's good to be in the know.
  12. He's under team control through 2017.
  13. In the AL in 2015 there were 2634 homers hit. 1549 were with the bases empty. 58.8%. The Twins that year hit 156 HR. 92 were with bases empty. 59.0%. This year so far they have 16 HR. 14 were with bases empty. 87.5% Yes, terrible. Unbelievable, even. Which is why I say, same guys as last year for the most part, so I'm going to go with Small Sample Size. That's how I often look at unbelievable things - I don't believe them.
  14. Garrison Keillor's lawyers will be in touch, shortly.
  15. And it works against the strategy you can use against breaking pitches, of moving forward in the batter's box to try and hit the ball before it breaks as much. That requires confidence of being able to handle the high fastball which now comes at you even quicker. Quite the dilemma. C'mon Bruno, work some magic here!
  16. In that case Pedro Florimon had a great 2013.
  17. I don't know why I feel it important to add that he also can not lay off the breaking pitch in the dirt. It's still pitch recognition, of course.
  18. There's no question in my mind that he's good at that particular play - it's what gives hope he can become a good fielder. I wish he showed more consistency on the plays involving hot smashes, popups, and so forth; on some of those I swear he seems to shy away from the ball.
  19. I nominate myself for Secretary of State of Denial.
