unfortuneately, its a double edge sword. There is no value for him right now with how he's playing (or anyone to replace him). If he gets hot & increases his trade value, then TRyan wont want to trade him as a RH bat is of value in this organization (as well as 3B).
i was unsure, but figured it out after thinking bout it a few minutes. Needs to be active for 90 days & can be stashed on DL for the remainder (if a team would try) but on the MLB version of the roster all yr.
Am I not understanding the rule, why wasnt WASH first given the right to take him back for the 25K before he was placed on waivers??
Are we sure they didnt take him back AND then St Lou tried to get him thru waivers to avoid an option??
Just stay out of the PCL is all I care. You cant judge a player/pitcher out there with some of the parks/air/etc. Look at some of the numbers from the Edmonton teams.
Inge is also considered a great clubhouse leader. Now, Im not that interested in that ( I want production), but several people are.
In addition to his position flexibility is his ability to play the OF.
If Im Inge, do I want to go to MN or find a team that is gonna compete & could use his excellent defense as a backup option.
the problem with Thomas playing to me comes back to Morneau not being able to play 1B regularly. Willingham should then be the fulltime DH & Revere shoulda been the fulltime LF. I was looking forward to a Plouffe/Tosoni type platoon in RF. With Parmelee playing 1B, it weakens the defense at both 1B and LF
the AA equivilant of DeVries is Steve Hirshfield. He has done nothing more than get guys out at every level & have dominating numbers in New Brit last yr for the first 3 months, but no promotion
minimum of 67K annually for a player with one day of MLB service is pretty nice. You see why a guy can stick out into his 30s as a AAA type vet if he got that day in early on.
It's like many jobs....pay your dues in the low minors & get a fairly desent payday if you can move up. Starting jobs often start at low wages & then improve with experience.
Look at Sean Burroughs....pretty good paying gig after coming off 3-4 yrs of despair & he was able to make it back up to get a half million $$ job.
