  1. Yes, yes it is.
  2. Apparently neither will second or third tier ones............of course that's because it would require...you know, offering to pay them.
  3. I've read every post in this thread, I didn't read a single one that made this arguement.
  4. But they won't, haven't you been listening?
  5. Like signing a quality baseball player, preferably one who pitches?
  6. I hope Gardy has a f***ing science degree with all this chemistry the team is going to need this year. How about biology? As in biologically better players.
  7. http://www.cartoonstock.com/newscartoons/cartoonists/jna/lowres/jnan1257l.jpg
  8. Odds on Manti making a move on Diane O' Meara? Is Manti Te'o really Manti Te'o ? Stay tuned.
  9. By the sounds of it, I'm a prospect!!!
  10. Well there's exhibit A on your penchant for exaggeration, I'm not saying that. I think it's the contrary, you, however rightfully so you might be, are very skeptical about Ryan changing his past patterns on bringing in outside players, but if someone chooses to have a more wait and see attitude they are relentlessly mocked for being a homer fanboy with no concept of reality. That's just as offensive. I've expressed lots of disappointment in some of the things Ryan and the team has done or not done, I just don't get too caught up in being disappointed about things he hasn't done 2 or 3 years from now.
  11. If he can learn to control the strike zone and lay off some bad pitches there is no doubt he will be better. The bat speed and power are there, no debating that, if pitchers make mistakes he'll punish them. I think he'll be serviceable at third, he made some fine plays last year, just need him to be consistent and make the routine ones.
  12. If he is better than his numbers, then why isn't he...like, better? Ouch, painful to read.
  13. Great stuff Seth, lots of reasons to be optimistic for sure. I agree 100% in your assessment of Wimmers, people seem to have either completely forgot about him or have written him off, I think he's going to come back and surprise a lot people and be in that 2015-16 conversation. Where is he at with his rehab by the way?
  14. Wrong on all counts, you should actually read some people's posts instead of just relentlessly pursuing your single minded agenda. I don't defend Ryan or the Pohlads at every turn, far from it, go ahead, check. I am willing at times to consider possibilities from a different perspective though and at times give them some consideration, mainly because most of these conversations have been going on since early December, a bit early for me. I just don't waste a lot of breath convincing myself of what isn't going to happen. I haven't posted a single thing stating this team will contend in 2015 or 2016, I have stated an opinion that I believe they will be "competitive" however, that's unrealistic? That has nothing to do with giving them a pass for doing nothing for the now, something I have never done. My comment had nothing to do with "sides", it was a reference to your habit of mocking certain posts and then feigning innocence. Yeah, I can be condescending, but at least I can own it, why don't you try?
  15. Condescending post of the thread award....congrats! http://www.websmileys.com/sm/fingers/fing24.gif
  16. Nope....I'd rather have a glove swinging from a rope than Delmon..
  17. This team is going to be harmful to watch with or without Hicks for 2 months. I'd rather watch him for an extra year when the team might actually be competitive.
  18. Well that sounds very grand and honourable and all but it's outright foolish to relinquish that control for so little. I'd suggest being the best OFer out of ST on this team isn't all that big an accomplishment. No I don't belive they will keep him down for only 2 weeks and that's perfectly OK considering how this year is looking. Paying him what he's worth? You have no idea what he's worth at this point and if he turns out to be a guy you extend, what's the harm in having an extra year to do that?
  19. Are the posters who would trade a year of control over two weeks of play, in an otherwise meaningless season, actually serious? Honest question. That seems to be a bit steep for a guy who's never had a AAA PA.
  20. It's January and you live in California....who's lucky?
  21. Exactly!.......wait a minute, that was an insult wasn't it?
  22. I think Devries will start the season and eventually give way to Pelfrey. Gibson will likely surface in June and move Correia or Pelfrey the pen. I would love for it to be Harden but no way is he ready, if he is by June we could be lloking at, Diamond, Worley, Harden, Gibson and Hendriks, hmmmmmm.
  23. I'll concede that one.
  24. That's a pretty consistant lack of bad luck he's had, I guess that makes him pretty damn lucky or maybe pretty good.
