  3. Duensing is a lefty, it will be him, Robertson and Perkins. Although I agree Robertson's role should probably be as a LOOGY.
  4. ......I'm just messing with you. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/fingers/fing16.gif
  5. If he truly has learned from last year and commit's to the disipline in his approach this year, then he's capable of pulling off a .680-.700 OPS, which really isn't that much to ask. Other than that he just needs to make the plays the team needs him to make in the field, not much else. He's really the only hope at the plate this year in the MI from a SLG standpoint, he just needs to work a few extra AB's consistently and we're good.............and then there's Pedro.
  6. Johnny, what's your opinion on Terry Ryan and the Twins FO?
  7. Yeah, this, if the current arms progress as hoped and they add some more high upside guys through this year's draft, then you can probably call it a #2.
  8. 1.Benson CF 2.Mauer C 3.Willingham LF 4.Morneau 1B 5.Doumit DH 6.Plouffe 3B 7.Parmelee RF 8.Dozier 2B 9.Carroll SS SP. Diamond They need to find out if Benson is going to produce this year, I believe he'll get that chance, considering the year of control the team will want to keep on Hicks. Florimon could just as easily start at SS but the team is better off with Carroll's bat . SS is just a mess and an all round crappy situation. I also wouldn't be too surprised if Worley got the start over Diamond.
  9. Having Butera in the lineup is definitely worth being despondant about. The rotation has me in full fledged depression.....thanks for bringing it up. http://www.websmileys.com/sm/sad/310.gif
  10. The mere fact that we would have to the discuss the validity of Drew Butera being on the roster, is more than enough to evidence to be deepy despondant about the upcoming season.
  11. Same place they filmed 9/11.
  12. One game playoff to determine who finishes last, the Twins or the Astros.......................KIDDING!!!!!!
  13. Isn't that what Howard just pointed out? What exactly are you disagreeing with? The only bitterness I see is from you, towards anyone who dares try to remotely criticize the direction this team is headed. We're all Twins fans, get off your sanctimonious high horse and grab a dose of reality.
  14. Wilson Ramos...we hardly knew ye. Matt Capps continues to haunt my dreams.
  15. I think his lack of an "out" pitch is a little overstated. I was at the Seattle game last year where he went toe to toe with King Felix, easily his best performance of the season. What I saw in that game was a pitcher going after hitters instead of nibbling around the edges and hoping for strikes. 22/31 first pitch strikes and kept them off balance all night, 6 SO showed he had no problem getting guys out. No pitcher establishes much of an out pitch when they are pitching from behind all night, something Hendriks did a lot of last season. IMO he just needs to trust his stuff and get after it, something it takes a lot of young pitchers a little while to have confidence in at this level.
  16. Where was he not objective? I think you are expecting Unicorns because nothing Howard wrote is unobjective bitterness, it's the truth.
  17. Definition, Risk/Reward; Direct relationship between possible risk and possible reward which holds for a particular situation. To realize greater reward one must generally accept a greater risk, and vice/versa. Also known as risk/return trade-off. What's the risk to the Twins in this situation? They lose a pitcher to injury (even though he's not officially injured and pitched through the end of last season effectively) and be no further behind than they are now except 4 million or so dollars they said they would spend anyway but haven't. Reward, they immediately get a legitimate MLB pitcher and show their fanbase that they are serious about putting a quality product on the field and value their support. The Twins comfort level in this situation should be high, the reward far outweighs the risk and has virtually no quantifiable effect on any further investment strategy going forward. It's a pretty simple equation.
  18. So hey, don't even bother trying, better to keep trotting out Correia and Devries and tell your fans it's the best they can expect, in fact it might even be good...kind of....maybe....hopefully.
  19. Nothing about the Twins MI infield situation last year should have them saying "we're good enough", bringing in some players, if only to serve as competition would have been the prudent thing to do. Dozier deserves another chance to claim the 2nd base job but in no way should it be handed to him and what about Florimon would make anyone think "good enough"?
  20. Why does rebuilding= you shouldn't sign better players when you can, especially when they are cheap and you can afford them?. So what if they have already signed 3 "vets", if Marcum is a better option you move one of them to the BP. Which of these younger guys are we waiting to find out about? Gibson and Hendriks in reality and Gibson will be limited at that, who would be blocked? May, Meyer? They're not coming before September at the earliest anyway.
  21. And that's a bad thing? As opposed to expecting the other slop they picked up to produce? What exactly is the gamble here? The Twins have loads of payroll flexibility and all the reasons in the world to take a chance on a guy like this, how does it set them any further back? It can only help, if it doesn't work out then that's the price of playing, when you're sitting on 20 million and really have nothing to lose, you should be all in.
  22. How many great pitchers do the Twins have? None by my estimation. This is the exact type of gamble the Twins should have made to fulfill some promises made in the fall, they have the flexibility to do it and lord knows they have the need. If they were willing to take on risks,( albeit far cheaper ones), with Pelfrey and Harden, this was seemingly the least serious and most effective one they could have taken from a playing standpoint. It's a slap in the face to the fans that they weren't willing to take the "risk" because it happened to more "expensive". Can't wait for this year.
  23. Really? Wow, I wonder if my card will come at the same time as my Drew Butera and Kevin Correia fan club membership.
