  1. I love alliteration.....how's that for positive?
  2. Will I continue my streak of spilling mustard on myself while eating a Kramarchuks brat into the second half? Only time will tell, next opportunity vs the ' Stros.
  3. what's this high fiving you speak of? The problem is you don't high five in hockey, you throw yourself face first into the glass, you can't do that in baseball. Now low fives, that's a particular specialty of mine....
  4. Who said anything about public outcry? Everybody knows the Twins will survive without Morneau, the thread is about whether there is any value in him with regards to a trade. I for one believe very little right now, unfortunately. The bigger issue is if the club can't move him and know they are not going to offer him a qualifying offer, what do you do with him for the rest of the season in order to get guys like Parmelee more playing time.
  5. n I accept that, IMHO the next step in their rebuilding is to make the best effort to give players like Parmelee a full and complete chance to play. They may as well get what they can get for guys like Doumit and Willingham, I highly doubt it's going to get any better anyway.
  6. Thomas is a prospect? On who's list? Hicks jumped AAA, I'd hardly call that proven success earning a starting spot on the major league roster, yet there he is and before he was injured was there day in and day out, why is Parmelee not afforded the same opportunity? Plouffe is the regular starting 3rd basemen, not sure what you mean there. There is room on this roster for all the players named above (save Thomas), management just has to accept reality.
  7. No, I just meant in context with the illusion of being competitive with them, that's all.
  8. Arcia is not the issue with Parmelee's playing time, they both should be playing regularly soon.
  9. If the club wants to keep the average fan pretending the team can stay in contention, you play Doumit and Hammer, it will sell a few tickets and maintain curious interest. If they are serious about moving forward they give Parmelee as many PA's as they can through the rest of this year so they are more certain of what might be required when they might actually be competitive in a couple to few years. This will best be accomplished by trading both Doumit and Hammer and quite possibly Morneau, although the return isn't looking too promising right now. They have the chance to make this season a useful one, they've shown the willingness with Arcia, they were a bit late to the party on Gibson, but he's here, and lord knows they've given enough rope to Hicks, they should do the same with Parmelee in a consistent manner, not this stop, start nonsense we've been seeing the last two years.
  10. Which is why we should spend the rest of this year finding out.
  11. I think Baker is a pretty fitting comparison, comparable stuff and similar velocity with maybe a slight edge to gibson. Even their injury history us similar.......gulp! Let's just hope Gibson plays more games for the Twins than Baker did.
  12. Well the answer given by those against this logic is that he's clearly not going to get any better anyway, he's had enough time to prove it and this is what he is. It's the wrong answer but it's the one they've given. It seems soley based on the possibilty that we might win a few more games this year, like it matters.
  13. To paraphrase Allen Iverson " We talkin' 'bout baseball", right? One person's glass is half empty and the other's is half full, I really don't see the difference. I think the negativity gets exaggerated and some people personalize it, that perspective is part of the overall narrative however and needs to be heard. In the big picture of this site, it seems pretty small to me and if it causes people to complain or drives them away, that's unfortnate, they're missing out.
  14. Ahhh, Neil Young always makes people feel better.
  15. This thread went off the rails when "Son of Sal" was mentioned......I blame him.
  16. He's up, I'm happy, he should have been up sooner, but he's up......kumbaya.
  17. I'd let you know, but I'm busy ignoring you.
  18. They will, trust me, they will.
  19. I love how he comes to the plate and just wants to mash the ball, without being stupid about it. He has that confidence about him that just seems to say to the pitcher "Go ahead, throw a strike", he's got game, that's for sure.
  20. Or a cigarette from a beer bottle.
  21. I'll pretend I didn't hear that.
  22. Apparently a few non grads
