    Would have to think Israel will be encouraged by this. The situation in Syria is one of the most destabilizing in the region, with Iran being such a strong ally of theirs it will be curious to see how things might be influenced. Israel will be interested in that development, as I'm sure will Lebanon.

    Betterment of the government is going to have to come from a revolution of the people. Constitutionally the government is pretty much impotent in the face of the Supreme leader and I don't see an imminent change coming in that regard, especially one influenced by the West. Will be interesting to see how this effects things in Syria.

    Young talent? Even with Mauer and Plouffe (and even Suzuki for that matter), it's very possible their opening day lineup in 2016 will have an average age of about 26 and conceivably get younger throughout the season

    What exactly do you mean by "give up on him", what context are you using here? You yourself once said you had long since given up on him actually being a good hitter. I think most peoples opinions were that they were unsure about his long term future in the Twins outfield considering his performance and other players.

    It isn't even a question if his bat sticks, obviously. Sure his defense in the corners gives his bat a fair amount of latitude, but only so much.

    Game threads have always been a bit irreverent. The analogy we've always used is, it's like watching a game in the bleachers with a whole bunch of friends, except in this case mostly ones you've never met. Conversation drifts, you don't watch an entire game from the bleachers and only talk about the game. Hell, you don't even watch the whole game. Actually, I find that the game is mentioned much more frequently this year, that's true for me personally anyway. Obviously the success the team is having is placing more conversation on the actual game, the last 4 years haven't been much to talk about so in most cases the conversation was a distraction from the awfulness on the field. Never be shy to insert a comment about the game in a gave thread, if you want more conversation about the game, speak up, you'll find lots of people taking you up on it. Just expect a few sidebars in between from the guys sitting behind you.

    95%+ on this board had not given up on Hicks. Most had just given up on whether he'd ever turn into a quality big league hitter, yourself included I believe. The biggest question with Hicks involves Buxton. When Lord Byron takes his rightful place in CF, will Hicks continue to hit well enough to regularly man a corner spot? I love his approach and results right now but I can't say I'm convinced yet.
