I don't think Molitor resigning gives the players the same excuse. My hope is that after the season a decision is made quickly and a whole lot of players feel very uncomfortable about their futures with new management coming in after this gong show of a season.
The Twins lack the organisational pitching depth to be able to move Erv. It's only worth moving him if ready or close to ready arms are the return and like you say, that's not happening. Keeping him to anchor what will likely once again be a shaky rotation is likely their best route at this point.
Are you suggesting that Ryan Doumit and Chris Hermann belonged in an MLB OF? Putting a round peg in a square hole passes as cutting edge? To be cutting edge, don't you at least have to have a modicum of success for it to qualify?
Agreed but Mollie has doubled, tripled and quadrupled down on some of the bad on this team. Lineups, bullpen usage and repeated fundamental mistakes are on him imo.
A 12 game losing streak and a 49-83 record? I don't think these guys need a message sent to them that they suck, it's abundantly clear. They aren't going to fire him with 30 games left in an utterly lost season, hopefully he makes the decision to walk away and allows the team a clean break.
