  1. I don't think it would be the right decision but if this year is as bad as last year's minor league season was, I'd rather have Lewis getting some on the job training!
  2. All the super utility options remaining are disappointing and very unlikely to move the needle for the Twins. I'm excited to see what Kirilloff can do this year and am wondering why the super utility role couldn't be filled by Royce Lewis. He can theoretically play s.s. and 3rd. He plays center field. I'm sure he could slide into 2nd and corner outfield spots if needed. He'd pick up 2/4 games per week while also learning from the major league staff. He'd be more exciting than resigning Marwin... And he couldn't hit worse! It would bring some excitement to an otherwise forgettable off-season. I'm not saying to make our top prospect a utility player his whole career. Just this year to get him some major league experience.
  3. I'm glad you'd guarantee this won't be the last move. It would be pretty sad if this was the last move since we need a DH, probably another starting pitcher, a utility player, a relief pitcher would also be good....... It's a big list that's still needed.
  4. I'm getting to the point I'll take any action right now! Sign Cruz, don't sign Cruz, trade, free agent....ANYTHING! Well, anything more than Hansel Robles.
  5. There's a good chance Cruz ain't worth his contact this year. I don't see why everyone wants to pretend father time isn't undefeated. We had great years with Cruz but that doesn't mean we have to keep paying him during what will mostly likely be a steep decline. I'd rather lose Cruz a year early than get stuck footing the bill a year late. If we want to contend we need to spend our money wisely. The F.O. spent the Cruz money wisely, he outplayed his contact. If Cruz wants 1 year, give it to him. Anything more and it's time to move on.
  6. I would have paid that! Unless there's a reason snell only goes 5 innings per start.
  7. The likelihood of Cruz being a .900 to 1.000 ops as a 40 year old are super slim! I love him, but he's old and he was looking old at the end of last year. That was with a 60 game schedule. He won't keep this up forever. You can't find the next Cruz by keeping the young fellas on the bench.
  8. I feel like the one that sticks out for me last year he was leaving the batter's box. But, like you were saying, it's usually not running straight line when he's already up to speed. I hope he stays healthy this year. He is fun to watch.
  9. It seems Donaldson always gets hurt running the bases. Shouldn't we DH him to keep his defense at 3rd base?
  10. I agree. I'd rather not move Sano but like you said, he is mostly passable at first. I would hope Kirilloff could be better then average at first. I was wondering if letting Sano focus on hitting could help him prevent from going into week long slumps with insane strikeout numbers. It worked out pretty well for David Ortiz.
  11. Is the Twins DH already on the roster? I love watching Nelson Cruz, but we are going to jam up the pipeline of prospects if we keep Cruz. We are already paying Sano 10 Mil a year. Why not move him to DH. Let him focus of what he does best, MASH THE BASEBALL! We could start getting Kirilloff set at First Base where he might be better defensively and also an upgrade over Sano. We could also use Kirilloff/Rooker/Sano combo in LF, 1st, and DH until Larnach is ready to step into LF. But then again, I wouldn't mind watching Cruz for another year.
  12. I'll miss Eddie - He played hard, he was fun to watch, and there was always a chance to see something magical (good or bad). He might not do everything right but a kid couldn't have a better example of how to play the game. He wasn't the most talented but he always gave it his all.
  13. Hopefully we have a Maeda/Graterol pitching duel in the world series. Then both teams can win the trade.
  14. The F.O. has to know something about Graterol that is not being let out. We have already been adding 3rd or 4th starters for depth. I think Graterol getting 60 innings of great high leverage use would be better than 150 innings of 4th starter league average pitching. If we developed Graterol into a high leverage relief pitcher his value would be greater than Maeda. I look back at the Andrew Miller / Aroldis Chapman trades and think we may look back and wonder why this trade was done.
  15. Maybe we all just looked at the word "impact" incorrectly. I was thinking an impact pitcher would be someone of Berrios caliber or better. Maybe the front office only meant the new pitcher will have an impact. Like the new pitcher will impact Lewis Thorpe. Who now gets to start the year in the minors.
  16. I'd rather wait until next winter's free agency at this point. I don't see a trade happening. I do see a couple bargain pickups during spring training. That seems to be the direction the F.O. likes to take. I'd wager our pitching help will be coming mid-season in the form of Alcala and Dhuran, and Kirilloff to add some more punch to the lineup after Buxton is out for an extended stretch (hoping that's not the case).
  17. I think that too. But you said it. POTENTIAL all starts. For AN all-star. Who maybe on a hall of fame trajectory. Major league baseball is full of prospects with all star potential that don't work out. The likelihood all three develop into all-stars is probably very slim.
  18. I've read a couple articles noting the Dodgers would like to trade for Lindor. From what I read it sounds like it would be Lux, May, maybe even Seager. With a couple years of team control and the Dodgers unwillingness to give out long term deals, this seems like a steep price. After watching Lindor beat up the twins for the last 3 to 4 years I want the Twins to throw their hat into the ring. Lindor is one of my favorite non-twin players to watch. I understand the Indians would not want to deal within the division... Unless they are blown away. I would not hold back and would be willing to offer a package the exceeded the Dodgers. If the Indians wanted Royce Lewis, Kiriloff, and Graterol I would pull the switch. If the Indians wanted more Major league talent I'd consider Buxton instead of Lewis. A trade for Lindor is going to hurt any franchises talent pool. I would only consider this if Lindor would agree to a contract extension. Sign me up if Lindor would take 10 years and 300 mil of the Pohlad's money! The front office has done a great job stocking talent. As much as the trade would hurt, we'd still have Duran, Alcala, and Balazovic on the pitching side. There would still be Larnach, Rooker, and Cavaco as upside hitters as well. Please tell me why I'm nuts and this couldn't work!
