  1. Gomez and Morris were penned to be at the top end of the bullpen this year. They definitely were not a surprise at all. No expectation beating here. Double for Kreidler.
  2. And if we can trade for at least one good reliever, we have an average pen.
  3. I doubt Lewis sits much so Cartini can play. Also while in contention they won't trade Larnarch. Roden will go back down when Buxton is off the DL and Martin will be the backup. He is not hitting well enough to start.
  4. An even bigger anomaly is how Gomez strikes out 5 of the 9 batters he faced in 4 innings of work that week.
  5. I moved from against trading Jeffers to open to trading Jeffers. If he hits with a .900 OPS then keep him. Or if we get a good trade return of a receiver and prospect. Then maybe. ... I do want to point out other teams have closed up the gap with good play as well. Detroit is 3-3.5 games out of a wild card and Boston is on an 8 game winning streak. One thing I like about this team is it feels like we are close enough to being that competitive team capable of winning in the playoffs. Let's be aggressive at the trade deadline and see what happens.
  6. Banda has turned his season around before getting hurt. He could return for similar money since he was hurt after the season started He was really good after getting hit hard in April and first few in May.
  7. If it's free then it's me! Can't really complain about free when we have the roster space and he will be in AAA while our almost free options get a try.
  8. The bullpen needs to raise the floor. Getting rid of players who implode like Adams is going to help. We still should try to get a really good reliever. Maybe one more after that, I don't know maybe Dan Schatzeder.... I mean Rogers will make it the rest of the way. I like this move as at least the Twins are making an effort. It's hard to acquire a reliever this time of the season as teams are still evaluating.
  9. The pitching available this deadline is going to be deep. Skuball and Gray and Chapman and the two Angels pitchers, KC could make some trades. There should be plenty of starting pitchers to choose from. But we really need bullpen. Skuball with Ryan and Taj make for a great playoff rotation and we just need to pick up a few arms... Let's go we have the top ranked offense.
  10. The Twins are 2 games out of leading the division and half game out of the Wild card and this is while playing a hard stretch of the schedule and they are 6-2 against the Astros, Yankees and Indians. We need relievers. I see Raya is now going on the DL. We have CJ Culpepper left in AAA plus the new guy we just got from Detroit. Who else is potentially available in AA or AAA to help the pitching? We did just resign Bowman to a minor league deal. Anyone else available?
  11. I had pitching, pitching and more pitching. Offense is good. Upgrade in RF maybe or SS/ IF but there are options ready in AAA.
  12. If Buxton comes back from injury soon, I think we have a chance. We have offensive reinforcements at AAA if needed so our offense should only get better. and Raya and possibly CJ Culpepper for the pen. We still need to get two good relievers and not the cheap crap imitation ones. Ober should be back so the rotation is atleast solid across the board. The key as always is health and minimal injuries and overcoming the ones we get.
  13. They should trade for a reliever now. THey can still sell at the deadline if they fall far enough back. not sure they will after winning 4 of 6 in the last 2 series. Anything can happen and Buxton being on the DL isnt helping.
  14. Cartini ' s backup has been pretty good too. Hitting with a decent average and a few doubles. He won't be able to get demoted this time as someone will claim him if he's demoted when Jeffers is called up. What do we do then?
  15. It would be fun to see the Twins empty the minor leagues to go all in. Especially if we win the world series. But we would be in for a long rebuild if we did this. I'm just posting crazy thoughts. My expectations are two relievers with one being elite for best case scenario.
  16. Guys we have the offense. A trade for Skuball and Sonny Gray and Chapman for the pen with Preliepp going to the pen after these trades and that would cost some prospects and some cash but we would be all in with a great rotation and good offense and better pen. Now saying that, I would be happy if they just traded for 2 average relievers
  17. Better idea. Make a trade or two now and if we fall in the standings we sell the new guys at the deadline but we pushed in before..... reinforcements would be nice to have for the two Cleveland series.
  18. Attendance will go up with a name acquisition at the deadline and continued competetiveness.
  19. I like Yates. He has a good track record. Since we are just looking at this season, I want the better of those two now. Also Yates is a name and the media will make that trade to be bigger than it is bringing more fans to the stands. Or at least creating more fan interest. I think Anaheim makes for a good trading partner as well. I too live in Orange county, Costa Mesa.
  20. Boston is a great trade candidate. They have old friend sonny Gray on the last year of his contract with Cardinals paying it down and Chapman for the pen. To get both we would need to give up a lot. Like E Rod and either Dasan Hill or Riley Quick. And someone like Parades to take some innings now. But our status as contenders go up.
  21. I don't think Varland pitches that good here, Rojas is a really good prospect, Roden can be useful. This trade is better than the Berrios trade. Give Rojas a chance to shine. Also did Varland want out? I think he wanted opportunity to start.
  22. If the Twins are serious contenders at the deadline, with their RF as bad as it's been there is a place for him to play every day. Though you do have a point and if the Twins are out of it, I agreed they may just leave him down.
  23. Their 1B numbers are brought down by Bell and Cartini. Lewis and Clemens probably have the Twins 1B situation in the 10-15 range and not 22. So as long as Bell and Cartini stay off 1B, problem solved.
  24. The numbers are probably dragged down by Cartini and Bell playing at 1B. They didn't hit. Defense shouldn't be included here since it was graded separately. Why double grade defense?
