  1. I don't like the FA SP Class at all. Signing FA's this year would be like signing Nolasco back then. That was Terry Ryan's form of aggressiveness. A desperate aggressiveness and it didn't work. The sad thing is that was about the only aggressiveness that TR showed us. Otherwise it was year after year of "I sure hope this average pitcher has an above average year. It's 5 years later (Longer actually) and we are sitting with a pile of plus 5 ERA's and it's time for a whole new thought process. Get aggressive when it comes to the acquisition of upside arms. Trade Dozier... Take a big run at International Guys who can get people out like the dude from Japan. Roll the dice on bullpen guys who could convert to starter. TRADE for them... MAKE TRADES... Big Ones... Little Ones... In between Ones.Go aggressively after Phelps or Montgomery or any pitcher that I haven't thought of that gets people out in the bullpen and stretch them. I've seen enough examples of successful conversion to consider this a viable solution to provide some competition in the rotation. How did the Indians build that rotation Mr. Falvey? TRADES... Kluber was a Padre... Carrasco was a Phillie... Salazar was an International Signing. Bauer was a D-Back... McAllister was a Yankee... That's what I mean by getting aggressive. In the end... in 2017... I want multiple options from the sources listed above and I want actual performance on the mound to determine who gets the ball. No more sitting and waiting for Gibson to get right. But... don't get FA desperate and end up signing that tier two average guy to a 4 year deal because he's what's available like you did in Nolasco. If you want to sign a FA pitcher... Go for the top of the pile... It's a low pile this year.
  2. The ball leaves his bat at 279 MPH. Let him swing it If you do... The rest is up to him.
  3. I get and I can't argue with your plan... I totally get it... But Right Now... That rotation looks like this to me: 8.02 5.27 5.58 7.71 5.07
  4. Yeah a total washing out would be near impossible. I just hope that I don't hear Falvey say something like this: I'm excited about 2017... We got Gibson and some other arms that should have bounce back years. Gibson gets a uniform... fine... that doesn't mean he can't throw out of the bullpen while the Twins try new acquisition A B or C. Trade Dozier... Sign Bullpen arms and convert them ala Pomeranz, Duffy, Montgomery or Phelps... Go get that guy from Japan... Give May a shot... Bring 8 other starters into camp along with Gibson and ask them to compete for the job. Look anywhere and let me read "Twins" once a day in MLB Traderumors on any and all possibilities. I'd like Falvey to get aggressive in search of pitching and it doesn't matter to me who gets tossed over board after the pitching performances of 2016 and I don't want him to wait and I don't want him to try and time it. I want to hear Falvey say that pitching is priority A... B... C and D and then go out and do some general managing that suggests that pitching is priority A... B... C and D. Terry Ryan used to say it every year... Pitching is certainly our top priority and then he did next to nothing about it. I want Falvey to say it loudly and then do it loudly. I'm tired of watching pitchers throw every 5 days with ERA in the 5's. Start tossing them aside instead of tossing them on the mound and that means they must bring in a bunch of flexible options.
  5. I wasn't planning parades but I fully admit thinking and typing. I don't care if 2015 was a fluke. The team did what they did... now you show them that you have their back. I don't believe that Terry Ryan supported the surprising success. With Ryan out and Falvey in. I'm gonna sit here wishing and hoping that Falvey is the aggressive sort. We've done non-aggressive for years under Ryan and it didn't work. I want Falvey to come in and let it be known that no pitcher with an ERA over 5 gets his name on the big grease board behind his desk and then I'd like to see him aggressively find replacements from every single source imaginable.
  6. I was hoping that they would hire a POBO quickly and then slow down and assess. This seems like hiring a POBO slowly and then moving quickly. I have no idea what is happening but I assume that Falvey is a phone call away and I imagine that Antony and Molitor have that number saved in their contact lists.
  7. They should Next time I go golfing... I'm bringing Taco's. Taco's will make those triple bogeys feel a little better.
  8. It's take a village to create that daily event. Chief Scheduling ChiTown's Editing Everyone's effort, creativity and self deprecation made it possible. I wasn't able to participate as much as I liked this year because of my schedule but it doesn't change what I think about it. It's one of the most special places on the internet. I can't think of any place like it... where else can you find a room filled with both humor and respect... On the internet? Some said it couldn't be done. It has been done
  9. Interesting? That's an interesting idea. I never thought of trying that. Here's to next year.
  10. I think Mauer does a tremendous job defensively at 1B. I think he's one of the best in the league however... he is being compared to players at a position where they put the guy with defensive liabilities. Being the best defensive first basemen is like being the tallest midget. I like Mauer... He ain't the same Mauer but he can help us win games and I don't care about his price tag... that price tag was what it cost at the time. It had to be paid. My sole issue with Mauer isn't on Mauer... It's on any manager who thinks that Mauer must play everyday. Mauer's overall game just isn't everyday worthy at this point.
  11. In my opinion... Putting a winning baseball team on the field will be easier to do than changing culture in the front office. Changing culture takes time and it takes even longer when the old culture remains in place. I don't want him to walk in and hand out pink slips and bring in his own people without investigation. Judging by his past experience with one club... he probably doesn't have his own people yet. I do want him to immediately trace everything in the baseball department back to find where the issues are and then make as many changes as necessary. I have no idea who or what the issues are... I just know that they are obviously there and in fairly large abundance.
  12. This has to be as bad as it gets. If I didn't believe this was rock bottom... There'd be little reason to look up.
  13. That's usually what people say to people who show up late. You smashed right through that wall
  14. Love the grasping at positive straws.
  15. This is starting to remind me of the movie Tin Cup David Simms: Tell me... how did a great ball-striker like you – a `legend' – manage to shoot an 83? TIN CUP: “Well, I missed a 4-foot putt on eighteen for an 82, that's how. I think 900 will be reached in similar fashion.
  16. Wow.. How bad can it get? That question is not rhetorical
  17. So you are suggesting a change for a better change. .
  18. Oddly enough That comment probably isn't the first call for his head on Twinsdaily.
  19. Falvey doesn't need to do much. Replace an entire pitching staff is all he has to do.
  20. Here's another way to look at things. It feels kinda good that we have been watching the worst Twins team ever. Kinda special in a way... It feels kinda good that we've reached that rock bottom. Now we can start climbing back up. Gonna have to wait for some rope or a helicopter... or Spiderman... That might take a while but we can't get any lower and that feels good.
  21. Just another example of the importance of the Catcher ERA stat.
  22. 27 Strikeouts can't be ruled out.
  23. Yeah... I'm with ya... I'm more of an Owl dude. Owl's don't over use the word stretch.
  24. Do you mean that all those things you told me about Chief being a Spy are classified. I'll keep that on the down low.
  25. It is often said that the loss of a job can lead to something better. It is often said because it is often true. Things work out for good guys like you. Here's to your future... It's bright... You may not see it now but it is bright.
