I agree with you on Rosario. Eddie has had some serious plate discipline issues and he has been slow to grow out of them. On Peacock... The Guy is dealing and he has been dealing all year. I suspect he is going to make a lot of our batters look silly. Jumping on his first pitch probably isn't a bad idea.

First off... Welcome to TwinsDaily. To answer your questions: 1. Loyola Marymount 8th round pick in 2011. 2. He was probably the best combination of reasonable ability and hadn't thrown recently so he could be used immediately. Either that or they are grabbing names out of a hat. 3. I believe we had an open 40 man spot after Wilk was DFA'd.

Before I move on to other things… I want to start by saying that today is Memorial Day. I want to lead with this because Memorial Day should not be forgotten. That wasn’t meant to be a pun… it was respect and a salute from the bottom of my heart. God Bless those who have served… God Bless those we have loved and lost. The Astros come to town and the Twins have to be tired. Six hours and 26 minutes of baseball is a long time to wear a jock strap without consequence. Six hours is a long time to do almost anything. It seems like it takes 6 hours for my wife to be ready as I stand by the door. I watched “The English Patient” once that seemed like 6 hours. Trips to the DMV seem like 6 hours. The last 30 minutes of the workday… seems to take 6 hours. Coming up with an idea for these game threads also takes about 6 hours. Here are some things to think about: 1. Wayzata – So many people head to the lake on Memorial Day weekend. Lake Minnetonka may be one of the busiest in the state because it is close to a major population center and it is the ninth largest lake in Minnesota. On the north shore lies Wayzata, a destination for the well compensated. The median home price in Wayzata is 8 billion dollars and 24 cents. Situated on Lake Minnetonka with some of the finest boating and fishing in the state, the residents love to fish. They don’t actually fish themselves, they pay people to fish for them but they get to keep the stories and tell them on their yachts. Brandon and Brenda Walsh from Beverly Hills 90210 were originally from Wayzata and that was probably why they had such hard time fitting into the ghetto culture at the Peach Pit. 2. Our Twins – I watched all 15 innings yesterday. It was a great game, and it wore me out. It was frustrating because we had our chances to win but we couldn’t close the deal. There were bright spots in this game; Rosario drew a couple of rare walks and Joe Mauer reached base 47 times. Afterwards, with the bullpen exhausted, Kennys Vargas was sent down so the team could add an extra pitcher, and Justin Haley was placed on the DL with a sore shoulder so they can add another fresh arm. "Hey Justin… how's your shoulder really?" "It’s good." "You sure it isn’t sore?" "Just a little… nothing out of the ordinary." "OK sore shoulder it is… I’ll get those DL papers filled out." 3. The Astros – The best record in baseball belongs to Houston at 35 wins and 16 losses. The Astros are strong on paper and teams that are strong on paper are scary when they are also strong on the field. It isn’t just a starting 9… everybody can play. The worst Houston hitter this year has been Carlos Beltran and he has been pretty good. It doesn’t matter who they throw out there… they can all play. Kuechel and McCullers are forming a talented top of the rotation, Charlie Morton is also nothing to sneeze at and this Peacock guy who is pitching today has been pitching better than all of them in a small sample size. Devenski has turned into an Andrew Miller type in the pen and Ken Giles is a force at closer. My plan is to build the Astros up to impossible proportions and therefore make them easier to take down when they can’t meet those expectations. 4. Today’s Joe M Conversation Maddon: Guys… I’m glad we came here today. Montana: Arlington National Cemetery on Memorial Day… this was a great idea. Mauer: Very moving… the white grave markers… the flags. Montana: The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. Maddon: There are a lot of great Americans resting here. Montana: I’ve been looking at purchasing a plot in my hometown but they are expensive. They seem to increase every time I look into it. Probably should get one soon. Mauer: I wonder why the prices are increasing like that. Montana: I asked that very question… they told me it was a cost of living increase. 5. Memorial Day - It is also a day to remember that mattresses are on sale… basically everywhere. You know it’s out of control when Buffalo Wild Wings is having a mattress sale. --------------------- ASTROS George Springer® CF Josh Reddick(L) RF Jose Altuve® 2B Carlos Correa® SS Carlos Beltran(S) DH Brian McCann(L) C Marwin Gonzalez(S) 1B Alex Bregman® 3B Norichika Aoki(L) LF Brad Peacock P TWINS Brian Dozier® 2B Robbie Grossman(S) DH Joe Mauer(L) 1B Miguel Sano® 3B Max Kepler(L) RF Jorge Polanco(S) SS Eddie Rosario(L) LF Chris Gimenez® C Byron Buxton® CF Ervin Dantana P Weather: cool-ish and cloudy but playable with a 20-25% chance of rain Click here to view the article

The Rays have a Robertson to go with Dickerson and Morrison. I feel like I'm watching the Thief River Falls Prowlers. -

Sano is gonna get pitched around. He needs to keep that discipline. He could use a big bomber hitting behind him. -

Our Twins return home carrying a four-game winning streak. It was a quick, three-win roadtrip to Baltimore and right back home to face the Rays for a weekend series. That is like the ideal trip to the store. You find a parking spot by the door, you walk in and right there is the grill you came for. You head to the counter to pay for it and you walk past a cooler that you also need, so you grab that. The lines are long but just as you arrive a brand new register light comes on, so you avoid the lines. As the cashier rings up the purchases, you notice that licorice you like in the impulse buy rack, so you grab a bag. After the cashier informs you that all these items were 50% off, you pay and off you go with the whole experience taking 5 minutes. BTW… that has never happened in my life so I’m not really sure what happened in Baltimore. Here are some things to think about: 1. Grand Marais – In the northeast part of Minnesota, that pointy part, the part that looks like the carrot on the snowman, is the city of Grand Marais. Grand Marais in Ojibwe means, “Stop go back… there is nothing else out there.” According to the brochures… the land surrounding Grand Marais slopes up to form Sawtooth Bluff which is adjacent to Pincushion Mountain. It’s not really a mountain… it’s really a very large pincushion named Mountain. There are actual pins stuck in Pinchushion Mountain so it is functional, you can’t see them… because they are actual size. 2. Our Twins – We have a fairly warm team offensively of recent days. In the last seven, we have nine players with an OBP over .370. The bullpen had a real nice week and we got some good starts out of Santana and Berrios. Add all that up and we are going to the World Series!!! 3. The Rays – Sitting at .500 currently, these guys can play a little. The rotation is productive from 1 to 5 and not one of them has an ERA over 3.82. The bullpen hasn’t been leaking either. On offense they've got a couple of guys playing above normal with Corey Dickerson and Logan Morrison acting like all-stars. If you are Scandinavian... you can hit for the Rays just like sons of Dicker and Morris. 4. Today’s Joe M Conversation Montana: Hey, Joe… that hole you're digging is getting kinda deep there. McCarthy: I’m planting a couple of bushes. I’m gonna call them George and Jeb Maddon: Why not Randy or Matt? McCarthy: Get your own bushes and name them what you want. Maddon: I already have a Randy Bush. Montana: That’s seriously a deep hole. You are gonna come out the other side. Mauer: I read somewhere… if you did that… You’d come out in the Indian Ocean. Montana: The Indian Ocean? That will probably end up flooding the backyard… I’d stop, Joe. Maddon: It’s impossible to dig a hole through the entire earth. The core is hot… around 9,000 degrees. Montana: You’ll need a special suit or something. Mauer: I’ll get the tin foil. 5. Psycho – I’m not normal but nobody ever accused me of being psycho. However, every path I’ve walked down in my life is now called the Psycho Path. ____________________ Lineups: RAYS Tim Beckham SS Corey Dickerson LF Evan Longoria 3B Logan Morrison 1B Steven Souza RF Kevin Kiermaier CF Rickie Weeks DH Derek Norris C Daniel Robertson 2B Chris Archer P TWINS Brian Dozier 2B Joe Mauer 1B Miguel Sano 3B Max Kepler RF Kennys Vargas DH Jorge Polanco SS Eddie Rosario LF Byron Buxton CF Jason Castro C Hector Santiago P Weather: It will be clear and 70s ... play ball! Last time I was relaxed on the road. A cop came by and suggested that I should relax in the ditch instead. Because it was safer... or something like that.
