  1. You are right... the injuries are a blow but every team suffers that blow at some point. This isn't above normal in my opinion and should have been planned for. Where you and I are going to disagree is saying it's our best 4 hitters and attempting to weight the blow heavier as a result and I guess that's a matter of opinion. Using OPS in 2017 the top 5 were. Morrison .868 Sano .859 Dozier .853 Rosario .836 Mauer .801 To put that in perspective: Trout, JD Martinez, Judge, Votto, Hoskins, Harper, Stanton, Olson, Blackmon, Were all over 1,000 in 2017. Freeman, Goldschmidt, Arenado, Altuve, Jose Ramirez, Bryant, Justin Turner, Correa, Conforto, Rendon, Bellinger, Cozart, Pham, Zimmerman, Cruz, Ozuna, Beltre, Marwin Gonzalez, Abreu, Bour and Upton were over .900 Rizzo, Jose Martinez, Cespedes, Springer, Avisail Garcia, Smoak, Hosmer, Encarnacion, Thames Gary Sanchez, Domingo Santana, Gennett, Gallo and Austin Jackson were all higher than our best. They are not our top 4 and even if it was our top 4 you can see how it compares.
  2. I want through the DL list of every major league team. What the Twins are going through isn't excessive. Some teams are worse off than we are and some teams are indeed healthier than we are but it's about mid-pack. I also went through the disabled lists from years past and it turns out that nearly every team has a rash of injuries at some point so it is reasonable to expect those teams that are currently healthier than we are... won't be later on. It happens often enough... like all the time... it should be a consideration when it comes to roster building. If this amount of injuries/suspensions has got us upside down. We never had a chance because having this amount should have been planned for. Since it happens like... I don't know... all the time.
  3. He's been alright... He's been better. I'm hoping the next club added to his bag is better situational hitting.
  4. Alright let's do this again. First one to find him wins. http://images.mentalfloss.com/sites/default/files/styles/article_main_image/public/toysandgameie.jpg?itok=mIsu2McG
  5. OK... the bottom third of the lineup is marginal. And the Top 6 players in your lineup that is capable of production can be marginalized. I'm still saying that Sano and Buxton playing to Sano and Buxton capability and a RH hitting OF'er will take care of both problems.
  6. You and I have both agreed that a RH OF would have been perfect for this collection of players. Look at this way. Escobar is batting cleanup because he is the only reasonable option to hit in that spot with Sano. Look at Molitors Lineup Left - Mauer/Morrison Right - Dozier Left - Rosario Switch - Escobar Left - Kepler Switch - Grossman Right - Buxton Switch - Adrianaza Right - Wilson Molly has consistently balanced his lineup cards like this to try and avoid letting the opposing manager come in with a left hander to face Mauer, Rosario and Kepler in a row. Without Sano in the lineup and without Buxton Performig and with Wilson playing over Garver because of defensive concerns... This Attempt to balance the lineup is futile. Pick any 3 players in this lineup and tell me where it doesn't make sense to bring Hader, Jennings or Boone Logan to finish the Twins off when the Brewers have the lead. Outside of Dozier... The only threats are lefties or Switch hitters. Just bring in a lefty. The Twins can't counter it.
  7. OK... Buxton has been worse but both are lost and yet key cogs to the lineup construction.
  8. There ya go... That's what we needed. Now watch them produce a run next time up.
  9. In 2018... Sano and Buxton are the exact same player in my eyes. Both are swinging at Garbage, Both are getting hurt and Both are critical to providing any kind of Right Handed Balance to a majority left handed lineup. If Sano and Buxton don't help this team, our need for a Right Handed Bat is comparable to the way a Grizzly needs Salmon.
  10. He is completely lost up there. It looks like he is trying to get a look at the pitcher so he let's the first strike go by right down the middle, then he swings at something out of the zone and boom... there ya have an 0-2 count. Pitch recognition is what he is struggling with.
  11. Choi's been a good AAAA guy for awhile (their version of Kennys Vargas). They could have called up Keon Broxton (their version of Byron Buxton) or Brett Phillips (their version of Zack Granite) instead. When Healthy: They have: C - Pina, Vogt, Bandy, Nottingham, Bethencourt 1B- Thames Aguilar, Braun, Vogt, Choi 2B- Villar, Perez, Franklin, Saladino(was Sogaard) 3B- Shaw, Perez, Franklin SS- Arcia, Perez, Villar, Franklin LF- Yelich, Santana, Broxton, Phillips CF-Cain, Yelich, Broxton, Phillips RF- Braun, Santana, Broxton, Phillips. When Not Healthy C - Pina, Bandy, Nottingham, Bethencourt 1B- Aguilar, Choi 2B- Villar, Perez, Franklin, Saladino(was Sogaard) 3B- Shaw, Perez, Franklin SS- Arcia, Perez, Villar, Franklin LF- Yelich, Santana, Broxton, Phillips CF-Cain, Yelich, Broxton, Phillips RF- Santana, Broxton, Phillips. Still pretty formidable.
  12. I talk about 25 guys who can play ofteh. The Brewers are an example of what I'm talking about. The Brewers have Braun,Thames and Vogt on the D.L. The Twins have Castro, Sano and Polanco out. Look who the Brewers can fill with and Look who the Twins are filling with. 25 guys who can play is what I dream about.
  13. Subliminal Messages from a Canadian is kinda dangerous.
  14. http://www.eclipse2017.org/2017/graphics/19-20.jpg
  15. Yes but the lines to get in are very manageable.
  16. Turn it off and turn it on again. See if that resets the game.
  17. Don't let him fool you with that Grill talk. He's in Tucson. He just puts the Ribeye on Tin Foil and puts it down on the porch and let's the sun cook it.
  18. I really really want Bark back. Nothing made me laugh harder than his brilliant Bark Art.
  19. Mike... You are simultaneously taking me too literally and not literally enough at the same time. I used Judge as an example... I don't believe it is realistic to acquire Judge. I also don't believe it would realistic to acquire Harper or Trout or Yelich so I'm not sure why you chose to focus on Judge. They were all extreme examples to make my point that if I were to trade Royce Lewis, I would want top of the line production for him. Good production for a catcher is not what I would trade Lewis for. My thoughts as nut-shelled as possible. Catchers require more rest so they don't play as much as other position players, Outside of Sanchez and Posey, the best offensive catchers probably produce at the plate as much as average players at other positions. Catchers who can produce are rare so I assume that they are expensive to acquire because of scarcity. So... If I'm going to trade top prospects... I'd rather do it for someone who will produce bigger stats than what catchers produce... that way you get more bang for the buck. As for what position this big bang for the buck guy plays. I don't care... I'm not a starting 9 guy. Just bring people on who can hit.
