  1. I'm trying hard not to like Deduno.... It's not working...
  2. Actual game comment... Morneau Yes... Stringing them together with two outs... A beautiful thing... Nishioka Question... I know Glynn said that Nishi was working hard and looking good... But AAA managers can't throw players under the bus publicly. It's like a hypocritic oath or something. That said... Based on what we saw... It has to be impossible for Nishi to look good at any level. Has anyone seen Nishi playing in Rochester and back Glynn up?
  3. Whatever the explanation... I hope it's a good one. Nishioka's short stint was as ugly as it gets.
  4. I agree... I would love to have Grienke...This team needs Greinke...but... He's going to make big bucks and his stats are good but not big bucks good. If the Twins pay it... I'll be happy... But...he's going to require some serious money.
  5. I honestly have no idea what is going on here. Why he has a major league uniform to wear is beyond me. I'm really trying not to embellish but he plays like he's stoned out of his mind. I seriously can't discount that possibility. This is major league baseball. It's Major League Baseball. His play isn't even close to the level of Major League Baseball. How did the scouts miss this as badly as they did. If the Scouts are ranking him as a AA infielder... I think they are still missing it badly. Take his performance last year and 3 games this year and I've seen enough. Based on what I have seen... He would struggle to land a starting job at Kent State. There is nothing to showcase here... There is nothing to develop... Cut ties first thing in the morning... Eat the money and move on. No need to torture him with low level backup duties. No need to torture his teammates and Twins Fans... Just cut him and let him begin the rest of his life. If upper management is forcing or asking Gardy to play him. That will change tonight or there is a huge argument taking place on the phone or in person. Seriously... What is going on here?
  6. The cops are little different down South I guess. lol.
  7. The other solution is crazy and I don't see Gardy ever doing it. But how about this. A true rotation of Morneau, Willingham, Doumit and Parmelee and even Mauer next year. Let's assume Doumit, Mauer, Morneau and WIllingham are holding down DH, C, 1B and LF next year. One Day on the Bench each week will get Parmelee and everybody playing time without having anyone spend ungodly periods of time on the bench. Just a little creative thinking and they can all fit in. I doubt Gardy would do it though. It's a crazy idea.
  8. It's because coming out of Canada as a baseball player is an accomplishment. A. Short playing season cuz it gets cold. B. Canadian Athletes are born to play hockey. C. They drink a lot in Canada and the ball looks fuzzy coming out of the pitchers hand.
  9. Yeah Parmelee may force his way in with continued stellar play. It could be that there is nothing for him to prove in AAA. However, he has to have a spot to play and 1B and DH are covered by guys who will not play in Rochester. He has to wait his turn and that turn will most likely come with an injury to Morneau, Willingham or Doumit. It sounds like a sticky situation but it's a good problem to have. Parmelee increases our options... Not only Morneau but Doumit and Willingham are trading options because of his play. Until then... I would not do anything to those 3 to decrease trade value. Moving Parmelee ahead of them would send the wrong message.
  10. Is Parmelee out of options??? If Parmelee can play at AAA we are good. Let Morneau play and build up trade value. Parmelee will arrive when Morneau is dealt or not re-signed to a contract. Or when Morneau, Willingham or Doumit are on the DL. If Parmelee is out of options... and continues to hit at AAA. He could force the Twins hand to move Morneau before they should. Is Parmelee out of options?
  11. I would Trade Revere if he brought back Starting Pitching. I would not trade him for a SS. I'd be real sad to see him go but for Pitching I'd say lets do it. Now... If choosing between Revere and Span... I'd keep Revere straight up and I also believe that Span fetches a higher return. So Span is still the guy to move that makes sense. I'd also be sad to see Span go... But for Pitching... I'd say lets do it. On the Subject of Parmelee... Keep him out of the OF if Willingham is also in the outfield. Having two slow footed corners in the OF is a real bad idea. When you are trying to build a pitching staff... You need every bit of Defense that you can muster. Those balls that Revere and Span get to are extremely important to your pitching staff. One ball not caught in the OF can lead to 3 runs scored that didn't have to and that can cause inflated ERA's. In my opinion, You can sacrifice one OF position range wise for a plus power guy. Sacrificing two is pushing it. Also, If you have two slow footed OF Corners. You will need Revere in CF more than ever.
  12. Me: Officer... I was rushing to my hotel so I can catch Deduno on the mound for the Twins. Officer Poncherello: so you've been drinking. Me: no no... He's got an awesome curve... He doesn't know where his fastball is going. Ponch: close your eyes... Touch your nose... Walk this line. Say the alphabet backwards.
  13. Glunn... I gotta make an afternoon drive across North Dakota tomorrow. I hope the Highway Patrol is stationed elsewhere cuz I will be speeding to my hotel to watch Deduno.
  14. Holy Goodness? I was gonna give you crap about that. My son just pointed out that it's in the urban dictionary so now I'll thank you for making me hipper instead. Positive numbers for all... The Minnesota Twins average 35,066 fans per home game. Good for 11th in the majors. Averaging more per game than the Mets, Nats, Braves, Reds, D-Backs, Jays and White Sox. The Twins have filled Target Center to 88 percent capacity in 2012. The Indians are ranked last... averaging 20,486 and filling The Jake to 47 percent capacity. The Twins also draw an average of 30,932 fans to their opponents park during their road games. The Rangers in comparison draw 28,172 on the road. This makes no sense in any universe but I thought I'd point it out and claim it to be positive.
  15. [quote name=roger;42795 Before leaving for vacation' date=' I watched nearly half of Rochester's games the past couple weeks. A couple games before Valencia was called up, he allowed two balls to go right under his glove about a step to his left. The first night, the official scorer changed it to an error after initially calling it a hit. [/quote] No idea how Danny carried himself around the clubhouse. But... This quote is exactly what I typically saw from Valencia throughout 2011. I saw him reach way too much. To me it looked like he played with I don't give a blank attitude. I got tired of it. Delmon was another... I couldnt stand watching Delmon... Half assed baseball... No place for it. Seriously... I like the players on this squad typically. Disliking players is not my style. Delmon I couldn't stand and Valencia was sliding down the same path. I was hoping the AAA trip would make him more engaged. First play back... He laid back on a charity hop and allowed a run to score in the first inning. Didn't seem to make a dent. I have no idea about his attitude. However... He was sent to AAA with no replacement for him. Now he has been traded even though the Twins have no idea if Plouffe will stick. You don't have to look very hard to read between the lines. Gardy will tolerate Butera and what he brings offensively. Valencia is tossed when he collapses. In other words... I have no direct knowledge of what is attitude is like... However... It's pretty easy to believe without direct knowledge that an attitude issue was there and fairly large.
  16. He probably needs security getting to his car.
  17. Nah... Another one was coming along.
  18. And it's a bad Defensive move.
  19. Why Willingham here? You need a single not home run. Save Willingham for Casilla and Carroll. Let Mastrionni hit here.
  20. I'm not worried about him at the plate. He's been OK. Defense... He's been a concern. His range seems OK and he moves well. Yet... He's been a little stone handed at times and his arm inconsistent. I hope you right Seth. I'll keep watching and waiting.
  21. TR said in his weekly Sunday interview that Mastroianni is the first guy at the park and he faithfully takes grounders everyday. He has done a nice job in the lineup and has earned some playing time. I'm a fan. I like players who play hard. His stats are decent... He helps the team when he plays... He works hard in the games... He's working hard pre game for the possibility of 2B... Yeah... You reward that. He's blocked in the OF. I'm not sure why Gardy has waited this long. He must not be sharp taking those grounders. If Gardy won't play him at 2B... At the very least.. Span Revere and Doumit could sit an extra game or so to get Darin in the lineup a hair more.
  22. Gotta get that bunt down Dozier... But Carroll picks him up.
  23. The toothbrush was invented in England... If it was invented anywhere else... It would have been called a Teethbrush.
  24. LOL... Selling out Elland Road in the Champ are ya... Big crowds for the matchup with Portsmouth I bet. Hope you stay out of administration for awhile. The Twins don't have a song... We don't sing at games over here. Because we don't want to be looked at funny. Nothing stolen... You got some bad info. If someone took it... I'll help you get it back. Cuz we don't want it.
