  1. At the moment, ability level...
  2. But only if Dempster does a good job of holding the bull on first...
  3. Yeah, it's not going out on a limb very far, but the real tips were the .182 average over the past week and the .194/.291/.313 line against...wait for it... righties. In the immortal words of Herb Brooks, Parmelee has been "playing worse and worse every day, and right now you're playing like it's next month".
  4. Parmelee is looking more and more like he has an appointment with the Mendoza line.
  5. But with the undeceptive delivery, it looks more like 87-88...
  6. Here's another image where her ample knowledge of sports really catches your eye: http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-STSTHPtUifM/TyLyrPUzVuI/AAAAAAAAFqw/SMGAz2l2Wio/s1600/Jenny%2BDell%2BNESN%2B04.jpg
  7. S'ok, I forgot about the 3 years Dempster spent wandering in the wilderness as a reliever for the Cubs before he became a very good starter. Pretty uncommon career profile for a guy who profiled as a potential ace early in his career.
  8. What reason would that be? He's been a solid #2 almost every season for about a decade now.
  9. American Fry power strikes again, Dough-Zee-A! Seriously, nice cut. Even moderate power breeds perks.
  10. And with that lucky throw, Mauer avoids the disappointing ex-catcher, meals on wheels fate for a few more fan/media cycles...
  11. Gladden isn't into nuance in about the same way that Sasquatch isn't into public appearances, but even he was Lombo-punchin' mad about the strike zone tonight.
  12. Yeah, he's on my pretend baseball team too. Look both ways before you cross the street, Greg Holland. And not just for a vehicle driven by either James Shields or Kelvin Herrera.
  13. And at some point, you figure Worley is uncomfortable too. If playing bench guys more than necessary to keep them up to speed is a valuable intangible, then so is getting a pitcher having his first good game in many moons off the mound with a nice line for the night instead of going with what's best for the bullpen, etc. as the yardstick for the call.
  14. Yeah, I miss her too. http://cdn3.sbnation.com/imported_assets/492179/roseanne_barr_national_anthem-300x225.jpg
  15. Morneau tied Drew's laces together? Cool...
  16. As do many others, but fairly often it turns out that this hatred stems from being inadvertently exposed to the gastronomically punishing and visually disturbing knockoff, Mr. Potato Head Salad. http://www.foodiggity.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/mr_potato_head.jpg
  17. Is this plea somehow related to the joke whose punchline is 'Wrecked'em!?! D@#n near killed'em!!! On an unrelated tangent, Worley's WHIP is now less than exactly, precisely twice of Butch Holz's pre-game mark of .96. Well done.
  18. Maybe you can desensitize yourself to dominance issues through exposure to images of familiar cartoon characters exploring these boundaries... http://i243.photobucket.com/albums/ff266/AlasTTTair/marge4.jpg
  19. Soreness in right shoulder last week, but still throwing. No timeline for rehab start, but at least no report of the dreaded 'setback'.
  20. Maybe that's a bit of a trade off for MLB free agents making almost entirely guaranteed money in the last major team sport with no salary cap?
  21. Would have said yes before I was reminded what an offensive juggernaut the bottom of the twins lineup is. Diamond will sit too long in the visitor half of the inning to come out for the 7th.
  22. Yeah, 1-4 with 2 K's isn't exactly snapping a cold streak. It's Verlander, but that's of marginal comfort when Mauer's ability as a hitter is supposed to rival the ability of Verlander as a pitcher. Possible Strib column: Mauer's Slump Continues; Bruno on Thin Ice?
  23. I'm actually holding out hope that Swarzak can put together a useful season. Esco and Ramirez look like small sample long shots, fun while they last, etc. Whatever they do above replacement level the rest of the way is a bonus. On the other hand, S^3 disclaimer, but Swarzak looks like he's in danger of maybe developing into a reliable reliever. Not where you want your high picks to end up, but better than nothing.
