  3. Reusse changed his tune from a few days ago when he was all for a 3/30 extension. [vomit] I'm good with 2/14, but anything more than that feels like a gigantic "home town" premium. What's Napoli going to get in the offseason? It has to be less than people have been throwing around for Morneau offers. I'm not saying sign Napoli, but I can't remember the last year that Morneau outperformed Napoli. My desire to let Morneau walk and bank on Parmelee or Plouffe is predicated on us using some new-found "cap" room on a top-flight FA starting pitcher. Could we get Hughes for 4/48?
  4. Barerio with a guest (Nanne, Kessler, Rosenbaum, etc) is good radio, but if its just Bump, then I usually end up popping over to 1500
  5. I've always listened to Barerio on my drive home and when 1500 came online I was ready to be flexible... But I can't stand Soucheray, so I kept listening to 100.3. Now that 1500 has adjusted their lineup (thank god) I find myself splitting time between the two stations on my drive home, shifting more and more to 1500.
  6. Also worth noting is that lineup costs about $35 mil, and that includes $7 mil for a highly replaceable Willingham.
  7. Probably, but if Buxton does well at Ft Meyers the rest of this year, starts the year at AA next year, and does well, I can see it. I believe Mackey suggested that he'd be a prime candidate for mid-June call up. I could make a lot of sense because a) he's awesome, and I don't see us solving our leadoff hitter problem before then.
  8. I'm relatively new to the Reusse and Mackey show so I don't yet know if Mackey is an unabashed unrealistic homer, but Ruesse and Mackey were both guessing the Twins lineup on July 2nd 2014 Mackey's lineup almost made me pass out with joy 1. Buxton - CF 2. Hicks - RF 3. Mauer - C 4. Willingham - DH 5. Arcia - LF 6. Sano - 3B 7. Plouffe - 1B 8. Rosario - 2B 9. Escobar - SS (I think this is who he had here) Notable differences are Reusse had: Daniel Santana at SS Dozier at 2B Morneau at 1B Doumit at DH No Buxton No Rosario
  9. My favorites... Goblin Keys Bygone Silk
  10. From this ESPN Insider article: Breaking down Futures Game rosters - ESPN Keith Law didn't talk much about the specifics on all the players, only to say Buxton and Sano were obvious choices. At the end he did drop this little nugget though... Minnesota's Max Kepler probably makes this game next year as the first German-born participant; he's played only five games this year, all in the past week, after missing two-plus months with an elbow injury; the Twins also have two top-10 prospects in Buxton and Miguel Sano, both of whom belong here over Kepler on merit. They probably also kept Puerto Rican second baseman Eddie Rosario off the roster.
  11. Byron Buxton scouting profile; Sonny Gray enters top 10 fantasy prospect rankings - Fantasy Baseball - ESPN Starts the article with this: "Normally we use the top of this column to profile players who can help your fantasy team in 2013. This week we're going to make an exception. Minnesota Twins outfield prospect Byron Buxton is simply that good." Closed with: "The Twins promoted Buxton to high Class A on Tuesday, and he has the ability to mirror Trout's rapid ascent to the major leagues. That would put Buxton in Minnesota before the end of 2014, and it might not take him much longer to develop his 30-homer/30-steal potential. Simply put, he's the best prospect in baseball." Mostly fluff in between, but he was basically comparing him to Trout, and it's always good to have our prospects written about
  12. Also worth noting is the top 10 picks being protected from FA compensation (and deferred to the 2nd round)
  13. Willingham's contract (~4mil more in 2013 and 7mil in 2014) represents a far greater dollar amount than any possible increased ticket sales by trotting him out there 5 days a week. My hope is that our projected payroll gets so low next year that upper management can't help but make an impact signing like Phil Hughes. The problem with that is, signing Phil Hughes will cost us our first round pick (I assume).... unless we are in the top ten. We aren't in a place yet where we can start giving up 1st round picks. Trading our veterans and playing our cheap youth accomplishes not only the reduction of next year's payroll, but also hopefully being able to retain our 1st round pick because we are in the bottom 10. In conclusion: I would trade Willingham for just about anything, especially if the other team is picking up a large portion of next year's salary.
  14. I appreciate any time someone makes looking up stuff like this easier, but I think I'll still go check out each of the box scores. Not only do you get a more in-depth look at the prospect, but I enjoy looking at the guys that aren't top prospects as well.
  15. It was closer on the replay than I thought it was going to be, but still clearly safe.
  16. Remember, the Twins can go about 400k over budget and not have any draft repercussions, only a 75% fine. So, that gets us to about $750k in "bonus" slot money
  17. RE: SD Buhr (team friendly broadcast rights) What is the current broadcast rights situation? Obviously I know it's FSN, but what's contract duration? Are we actually in the lower tier of the league or do we just assume that? I wonder what effect Fox Sports One (coming in August) will have on negociated contracts moving forward. This probably deserves it's own thread... or heck, even an article written by one of the talented writers here at TD.
  18. Righty8383 - After the bonus amount in the original post, can you add how much above or below slot it is?
  19. The Twins could add $413,220 to their bonus pool and incur only monetary penalties ($309,915 in fines). That would be more than enough to overslot Gonsalvez and/or Logan Shore
  20. Disappointing postponement Double header tomorrow?
  21. And it wasn't a solo HR.... PROGRESS!!!
  22. On the G&TG Weekly podcast they mentioned that this is the same team that Gibson recently shutout. I think that worth noting, but for a different reason that Gleeman was. Gleeman was implying that since he recently shut them out, this outing is a relative disappoinment (maybe that's too strong of a word). I take a different stance. We've been hearing this year, as our super-prospects were tearing up their respective A-ball leagues that it's important for their development to have the pitchers see them for the second time and make adjustments. Only then will we get a true feel for their development. Why can't the same go for pitchers? This Toledo team has recently faced Gibson, presumably developed their scouting report on him, more fully, and Gibson was still able to hold them to 1 run over 7 innings. Perhaps Gibson was able to get the Mud Hens to chase outside the zone on the first go-around. This game Toledo laid off those pitches and drew some walks, but ultimately Gibson was able to work around those walks and give his team a great chance to win.
  23. Javier Baez from the Daytona Cubs has 4 HR in 4 AB. Sadly for him he probably isn't going to get a 5th AB.
  24. My Draft Board: 1) Appel 2) Gray 3) Stewart 4) Bryant I'm back and forth on Stewart and Bryant. Prediction: 1) Gray 2) Bryant 3) Appel 4) Stewart
  25. On Keith Law's chat today he reiterated the Eric Davis comp after someone asked if he'd like to revise that comp. Law said "if Eric Davis stays health he would have been a HOFer." Now, Eric Davis is a bit before my time (especially since he was NL), so I went to good old Baseball Reference and looked up Davis. Holy Crap. 1987 was quite a year (even with 30 games missed).
