1. The difference of opinion is that you (pab and a couple others) view eating his salary as paying $6mil. $6,000,000 is a sunk cost. If Ryan was able to move Morneau and get the other team to take on a bunch of salary, it might supplant Erickson as what he views as his best trade deadline deal.
2. I wouldn't expect most fans to understand, but I would expect most people on here to understand.
3. MN Twins: So.... if you're a team thinking about trading for Justin Morneau.... don't bother.... he'll be available in about 12 hours via waivers.... and he's so valueless, that we think he'll fly right through unclaimed
4. And right on cue.... Buster just retweeted this: Bob Nightengale ‏@BNightengale4m The #Twins believe that Morneau would clear waivers in August and could be moved then
5. It was mentioned about but per Buster Olney on Twitter.... The Orioles are not strong on Justin Morneau, reports @Kurkjian_ESPN; the money just doesn't match up for them. I agree with the above poster... this drives me crazy. With the structure of draft pool and international signing pool, as people have stated before, it doesn't do a ton of good to save money on payroll, because it's difficult to spend it somewhere else. Trading Morneau to the Orioles and eating the salary is a PERFECT way to take advantage of the fact that we are under the payroll that we "should" be at and take advantage of teams that are higher than they want to be with their payroll. Couple this with what seems to be disinterest in the 24+ (uncapped) international free agent market and it's been a frustrating last month.
6. Actually, that's more like Park Rapids. What a coup for P.R.!
7. Downtown Minneapolis is giving Target Field the shocker Two in the Coomer, One in the Punto
8. Last year, Houston's farm system lead the way at .546 I'm not finding 2013 compiled anywhere, but the Twins minor league teams (taking the DSL out of it) are at .551 Here's 2012 for reference:

2012 DOMESTIC MINOR LEAGUE ORGANIZATION STANDINGS

RANK TEAM WON LOST PCT
1 Houston Astros 417 347 .546
2 Colorado Rockies 386 329 .540
3 New York Yankees 366 326 .529
4 Seattle Mariners 402 359 .528
5 Los Angeles Dodgers 366 327 .528
6 Minnesota Twins 360 326 .525
7 Toronto Blue Jays 397 360 .524
8 Miami Marlins 361 328 .524
9 Texas Rangers 359 335 .517
10 Tampa Bay Rays 391 368 .515

Twins were 25th in 2011 at .478 (Rangers 1st at .564) Twins were 30th in 2010 at .434 (Candinals 1st at .569) Links to previous year: 2012: Baseball America | Blog | Baseball America Prospects Blog | Astros Turn Into Winners At Minor League Level 2011: https://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospects/2011/10/2011-minor-league-wrap-organization-standings-league-champs/ 2010: Baseball America | Blog | Baseball America Prospects Blog | Minor League Wrap: Organization Standings, League Champs
9. ... and we're battling Danny V in Rochester
10. Perhaps more importantly.... Is Jason OK?
11. Here's the problem with the Walker situation.... who's he replacing in Ft Meyers? Buxton.... Obviously not Mike Kvasnicka.... Probably not. JD Williams... Maybe, but he just received a deserved promotion from CR Vargas... Not unless he gets promoted They only way Walker makes sense to promote is if it follows a FM promotion. Vargas probably deserves it and the options at First Base in NB aren't making anyone blush. But then you're running a 1B/DH/OF rotation for Walker. That might be what he ends up as eventually, but I doubt they want to shift him away from OF quite yet. The other option is to promote Kvasnicka, who's been really good at FM this year. That frees up RF for Walker. There's playing time to be had at NB in the outfield since the incumbent RF there (Parraz) is in his late 20s and is only holding his own. This armchair GM thinks that probably the best option.
12. Who are we getting from the A's? Yoenis is probably untouchable
13. Josh Johnson for Justin Morneau.... who says no? (contracts are almost exactly a wash)
14. I was walking through the airport today when I heard a last call for Delta Flight #1987 to St Louis. I joked with a buddy "where does flight number 1991 go? Atlanta?" Sure enough, Delta 1991 actually does go from Minneapolis to Atlanta. Clever Delta I can't wait to take flight 2017 to Los Angeles
15. Now I am not seeing the Sano HR - I am sure that I saw "Sano (10)" under the linescore.
16. Sano and Buxton each go deep Sano is heating up Pinto with a pair of HR
17. 7 of the 12 have higher payrolls than the Twins. Thanks Pohlads.
18. DSL, GCL, and E-Ton I like to look at the box scores from every level each night and I am familiar enough with the Twins top 20-30 prospects that I know who to look for at Rochester, New Britain, Fort Myers, and Cedar Rapids (although maybe not as much now with the recent promotions from CR), but when it comes to the low minors I could use a little help. Other than Minier, Stewart, and Eades I am fairly clueless. Could someone give me, say, the top 5 hitters and top 3 pitchers to keep an eye out for at each level? Thanks in Advance

22. Justin Morneau with a 10-game stretch of BABIP = 0.000 (0-25)
23. I was going to throw out Hughes for Morneau straight up Swapping home ballparks would be a godsend for both of those guys
