  1. Kaat is an amazing listen - really, one of the best.
  2. What? The Twins, assuming they make the DS, would play back-to-back games twice...if Rogers continues to be ineffective on back-to-back games, that is a real problem. How is that even an argument?
  3. Not really - the ALDS is set up to play back-to-back games (1&2), off day, then back-to-back games (3&4), off day, then game 5.
  4. Having this depth also allows the Twins, if it happens, to not burn through their main guys if they don't have to. If you are allowed to expand your rosters, why not take advantage of it? Although, having this many pitchers on the roster probably eliminates any chance of us seeing La Tortuga pitch.
  5. Graterol would be a nice opener for someone like Smeltzer or Thorpe - or even Gibson or Perez.
  6. Are we to make something, anything, out of Lewis playing different positions recently?
  7. Looks like Dobnak is starting tonight for the Twins...?
  8. Is it within realm to call Gibson the same pitcher that Nick Blackburn was, with the exception that Gibson gets more Ks?
  9. This is a pretty important series IMO, considering Cleveland is playing a good Tampa Bay team this weekend. A great opportunity to push the lead out to 5-6 games heading into September if the Twins do their part and the Rays put in a helping hand.
  10. IF Duffey and May can be effective out of the pen, that is really a big piece moving forward...beyond 2019.
  11. Things are all relative, so let's keep the bullpen in perspective. Their recent string of success has been against bad baseball teams. Call me skeptic that they will be able to perform late in September and (hopefully) in October.
  12. Looking at Ober's stats, holy man. He doesn't walk anyone, has legit K numbers, and everything else is pretty damn solid. What is the word on him? Velocity? Secondary pitches?
  13. Over the last two months, he has maintained the K numbers...it is just the hits & walks that are an issue, and obviously that won't play well as you advance levels.
  14. The Twins really are in a pinch with what to do with Gordon, especially if Arraez is for real and the Twins have full belief in him. With Polanco being here long term, that offers even more pinch. It isn't like Gordon is a wizard defensively, from all we have heard and been told, so he won't push Polanco across the diamond. I would say move him to the OF, but I don't think that is in consideration.
  15. How big would Gardy's smile be if he had a lineup full of actually 9 Nick Punto?
  16. Are Rocco and his coaching staff sleeping in the dugout? This is the 2nd play that should have been challenged over the last few days. There have been more egregious plays that they challenged, but choose to not challenge these most recent ones?
  17. I had dozed off a bit around that time of the game yesterday, and woke up to this...I immediately turned to my wife and said "this is absolutely awful." Nothing like having a nap broken by an awful rendition of God Bless America.
  18. Is it unrealistic to say the Twins need to go 10-3 over these next 13 games?
  19. Plus, usually throwing errors are related to poor footwork. I don't think Polanco has shown to have poor footwork as of late, so it makes you wonder.
  20. Didn't Polanco have a shoulder injury/issue in the past? Not necessarily this year, but sometime recently? Could his recent throwing errors be injury related? His throwing motion is just not fluid. It isn't good. I just wonder if maybe there is an underlying issue that is being kept under wraps right now.
  21. You could see, in the video, that Watkins said something to him and Cave took it as an "oh crap, my bad" moment. He even patted himself on the chest to signal that. I think Watkins told him what had happened, why the Rangers may be pissed, and what may happen to Kepler. Still, stupid. A guy shouldn't have to worry about swinging 3-0 no matter the score. These unwritten rules are so outlandish and stupid. Down with them.
  22. I was thinking about this earlier - do other sports have these unwritten (stupid & outdated) rules?
  23. Cron hasn't exactly been a wizard over there lately as well - makes you appreciate what Joe Mauer did over the years at 1st with poor throws.
